Sometimes as content creators we get comments that are tasteless and downright mean for no reason. In this case, the comments are targeted toward 4c hair - my hair type. Each comment in today's video represents a litany of comments just like it that I've received over the years. I've decided to highlight them and talk about them out in the open. Side note: I'm really making this video to highlight the less glamorous side of being an "influencer.” Many of us take a lot of negativity in and are expected to take the hits with a smile because "we put ourselves out there." No. I don't care about differing opinions, as you'll see in the video, but I do want to point out some of the toxicity that's in the community and why so many people get turned off by it. I've been doing this for 11+ years and I've learned to roll with the punches, but that doesn't mean I have to smile and say nothing at all. Content creators are people and just like the people in the comments, we should be addressed respectfully.
I feel like as well it's not just a small insult rather if you can easily say something bad about somone's hair online, then you are bold enough to do in real life and there are bigger consequences. The thing is that natural hair isn't just personal, but the concept of it is bigger than all of us, so these insults really do matter
I used to think that the best way to style my hair was to press it. I got a relaxer at age 7 because my mom just didn’t know. I do still get my hair pressed but I love my 4b/4c hair, embrace the curl pattern, length, density and all of my hair and love to watch and learn each day about it. I wish someone would…
@@bandaqueenlove9134 Yes, on a large scale they do because of the umbrella of white supremacy. It’s not just about having “ugly hair”, it’s about the domino effect it creates in “justifying” why black people as a whole don’t deserve respect and equality. The comments that get directed at me personally - I don’t care. I’ve got tough skin. 😉
Starpuppy said it best: what is familiar becomes what's beautiful. Because it's easier to see the beauty. As we saturate media with our image, our self-image will improve.
I agree!! Since June 2020 (when I did my big chop🤩) I started following way more black hair influencers and black hair trends and now, when I see other black people wearing their natural hair and myself wearing mine, I just looove it!
Why do Americans call black hair or 4C hair "nappy hair"? I don't like it. It sounds inappropriate and insulting. I think the black community all over the world need to learn to love their hair. I have 4C hair and people like to ask me why don't I relax my hair. I don't have any plans of relaxing my hair ever again.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair Same for me. I have the word as a personalized tag on my car because I look at thin stringy hair and it makes me “happy I’m nappy”. But still no shade towards thin and stringy.
@Rosa M sooo lucky. They had to pass a law here in the US so we won't get fired (yes fired) for wearing our hair in it natural state. It only passed in 13/50 states sadly. It's a HUGE problem here, but it manageable depending where you live.
@Rosa M interesting. The weave industry is big back home . When I was young and living back home, folks did not wear their hair natural and it was considered “undone”. I’ve seen the trend towards natural hair grow which is beautiful . Perhaps things are drastically better now and in your area- which is great. I def think African women can style their hair with less issues (ie braids, cornrows , weaves , etc) BUT I still see large Eurocentric pull when it comes to hair
One of the things we have to do is remove everyone else's eyes when we look in the mirror! Growing up and being teased about my hair caused me to hate my hair and hide it. Once I realized that my hair was given to me by the Most High for the express purpose of representing my beautiful people, I learned to embrace it. Nappy Foo was a great catalyst for me learning to love my hair, and she actually recommends your YT channel on one of her videos. Thanks so much for your content!
I honestly do not know what texture my hair is but if I need to do my hair, the only knowledge i have is that i am natural, I always run to your videos, so thank you, God bless you❤️❤️❤️🥂
There's nothing wrong with our hair. Our 4C hair is the most beautiful hair there is and one of the most beautiful things on the planet, next to a black woman.
I have 4C hair and I love it and struggle with it. BUT, commenting that we have the most beautiful hair is contributing to the overall problem. So……what if someone has 3C etc…. i.e my daughters………Think about it….. Everyone’s hair is beautiful.
We will always stay where we are if we’re always looking for the approval of others. I was young in the 60’s, wearing an Afro was the symbol of Black Pride. Apparently my generation didn’t do a good job of passing that on to the next generation and so forth.
I think as times change so do styles. Question, back then weren’t a lot of people texturizing to get the perfect Afro? I came across a lot of old school commercials promoting texturizers, but they were called “blow out kits”
Yeah. I’m with you on that. I feel bad that my generation (70s) didn’t pass on more so that these young women felt more empowered with what God has given them
I was a kid back then and always wanted a big afro by my mom said no! Didn't know blowout kits were relaxers then, I never saw one being used, just saw the ads and it seemed like magic 🤭
Sometimes it not about looking for approval. Sometimes ya just want to be left alone to just *BE* without negative opinions for the way you naturally exist.
I hate it when people dangle the “growth” carrot to prove a point or as click bait. You are right, hair will grow at it’s own rate. I’ve always had anxiety about going to the hair stylist. I stopped going there at age 15, way before I went natural. They would complain about how much hair I’ve got and how hard it was to relax and get straight. I got tired of having to explain and defend my hair to the same stylist who should have been familiar with my hair by then. I only go when I’m platting my hair but now the anxiety has come back as my hair is longer. It was already a battle for stylist when it was a short afro. So I’m sticking to styles that I can do myself to get away from the comments and complaints
You’re not alone. I’m happy that there are stylist now happily willing to service type 4 hair….but they’re so hard to find. Even now I’d have to travel 6 hours to a specialist.
I was relaxed for years until I got burned so badly I couldn't lie down. At that point, I was done. Looking at videos with other hair textures does make you wonder what's wrong with your hair when you go natural - why isn't it curling? But the positive representation that you bring to 4C hair is great. The joy you take in your hair is infectious! I actually enjoy doing my hair now. But I know everyone is not going to feel that way.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair my skin would ooze and bleed for a week after!!! I remember my freshly relax hair being matted in it, and it was so painful untangle it out. Sorry, TMI and gross 🤢. And I thought I had no choose but to deal every few months with this pain. SAD!
Same here. I really enjoy my hair now. I don't even get angry anymore when I experiment with a new style and it doesn't turn out the way I want. I just take notes and keep it moving. With this approach it's surprising my hairstyles still look cute and intentional. I was too hard on myself in the past. If I didn't get exact results I was brushing it down and putting it in a bun.
@@digitallocations1423 happens to me all the time. Actually JUST this morning. My flat braid out didn't come out well, I just shrugged and put it in a Bun and keep it moving. Not one second did I say I hate my hair. Rather have that Bun than those chemical oozing burns any day!!!!!!
I relaxed my hair for 43 years-just went natural at 55 years old. It has taken some time to make the adjustment but it is worth it. I had to find the products that work for my hair and once I did that all is well. I enjoy your channel and your positivity. Keep it going!!
Same with me Movita! Relaxed hair since I was 9 years old ( my mom was done with my hair lol) It took a pandemic to keep me from my regular touch ups till I finally decided to just transition and go natural. Big adjustment but once I found the right products I am good! 😎🙌🏾
I applaud everyone that reads through YT comments, because honestly I could never. I'd get waaaaaaaaaay too angry lol. Sometimes I just find myself gaping like, did they even watch the video?! 😂
This makes me sad lol. I hate when people talk negatively about their hair :( often they just can't actually see their hair and what they have. Also re: anime pics I think generally not showing your face/connecting identity can increase willingness to be nasty and rude. Not always the case, some people have no problem doing that with their identity attached. Anyway, it's part of the reason I put a selfie up! I thought it would probably be a little less unnerving if an actual face was attached to a comment but that's likely not necessarily true haha. It feels a lil more personable on here though.
Wow. I remember watching a few sisters that have 4C hair. You and NappyJojoba I appreciate for your realism. Sadly, the curly vs kinky battle goes on. Remeber, the real issue is European idealism of beauty and hair! We are Goddesses and please embrace your beauty! B1 Queen!💜
I hated my 3b3c hair for years, now that I went natural, I have been watching a lot of videos on natural hair care, I was excited and still am by watching all the influencers teach or recommend products they use… I’m never judge anyones hair texture because to me all hair is beautiful … hell I have been thinking God everyday for beautiful people like you that enter my life at the right time when I did the big chop last year…I was lost, confused and not happy until I went on UA-cam and discovered ways to do my untidy hair aka kinky 😂🤣😂🤣… I want to thank you again and again you’re and so many other influencers are a blessing ❤️I actually dislike that hair chart, all hair texture is beautiful
I was a natural hair youtuber back in the day kinda switched my content, but you know what I'm ready to come back. I wanna rep for my 4 type queens. Ready to start a new journey. I love ur videos btw, ur fan in the shadows.
Two things.. 1. I would say, don't always believe what you see on TV (for our case. UA-cam). Most of those "curls" you see on that type 4 hair are created by twist or braid outs and products. I realized that when I was wondering why my hair didn't look like other youtubers who claim to have the same hair as me. Some youtubers edit the hell out of their videos. Only showing the desirable parts that will get views. 2. Looser hair isn't as glam as one thinks. Everyone make it seems like it so easy, it's not. I have 4a hair and my curl pattern and twist out won't last without putting gel, which I refuse to do, because the looser the hair the more it expands and frizz in humidity and rain. I actually laughed at that winter comment because that's when my hair behaves the best 🤣🤣🤣. I LOVE wearing my hair in afros but I have to really have my hair shaped (cut) to achieve the perfect afro or it will be flat and look like a mullet. I also have to pat it down so it looks shrunken. If not it looks like a bird's nest 🙃. I'm not saying all of this to say I hate my hair, I love my hair, just saying it's not as easy as those video make it looks. I watch a type 3 video once and was surprised by their struggle!!! You just don't step out of the shower with perfect hair because it's loose. It takes lots of work, but some of these videos don't show the crazy amount of it. Just cuts to the beautiful "Effortless" coils/curls. My point, grass is always greener. There's pros and cons for every type. Like latoya said everyone wishes for what they don't have. Please love your 4C hair it truly gorgeous!!!!
I was lucky enough to grow up in an environment where I wasn't taught to hate my hair. My mom never complained about my texture, even during those late nights before school where she had to stay up trying to get it done. So, when I finally decided to go natural it was easy for me to fall in love with my type 4 hair. I feel bad for those that hate their hair, because it's likely they were just raised to hate it. 😔
So the whole reason I went natural was cos my hair was all stringy and it gave me low self esteem which made me cut my hair off for about a year straight, then a friend of mine recommended me to your channel as well as Jenn Jackson and Star puppy (mind you I didn't even there was suck a thing as natural hair). So I learned and came to love my 4c hair, and then one day I was accompanying a relative of mine to the salon and she just up and said I should also relax my also, and kept making these comments about don't I wanna see how long is my hair now, don't I miss my relax hair or imagine how many guys would approach me if only I had my hair relaxed. I felt sorry for her hey, cos now she's complaining about her thin hair but is refusing to start fresh. Sad how we still in the mindset that relaxed hair is the best hair.
You’re so right about the grass is greener on the other side. I have 3a/3b hair, and I get jealous of 4c because I cannot do a thick high-puff. I also cannot wear twists for more than one day or it becomes really fuzzy. However, I do what works for my natural hair because I cannot trade it in for 4c, and I will not trade it in for anything unnatural. I spend a lot of time trying to talk friends into embracing what’s coming out if their scalps. It’s very difficult. Most people are set in their opinions and don’t want to hear anything. One lady asks me so many times, “do all of your family have good hair”. I tell her that all of the world has good hair, they just have to learn to love themselves.
I love my 4c hair. It's amazing. No one has curls like mine, and they ask how do I get my curls so small...it's God. He took the time to curl it like that !!!
I have been on my natural hair journey almost three years now, and like you have 4C hair, I too love my hair... so thanks for this post, as well as the encouragement...
Aww don't cry Gabby!! 🥺 It's unfortunate that so many people say mean things about our hair or that we have unsupportive family members - but that's NEVER gonna stop our shine, Sis!! 🙌🏾💪🏾❤️
@@LaToyaEbonyHair I know I just feel so bad about how the world perceives our hair type and bully people into self doubt and self deprecation for something that is out of our control and 4c hair is just as beautiful as any other hair type.. it’s just disheartening. Love you girl, keep doing what you’re doing ❤️❤️
I’m a new natural and 4c. I am guilty of thinking all hair curled because I just didn’t know. As you can see from my profile my hair is short. I just need styling help and ways to keep it moisturized. Never thought it was ugly, I just didn’t know until I became a natural about all of our beautiful hair types.
Went natural for about 6 years and always knew my texture is type 4. I don’t really pay attention to the letter typing . I did try to get my hair to look like others on this platform but quickly realized to just embrace what my own hair looks like.
Following now! I love your positive message. Thank you for representing us 4c’s! I’m 48 and I am just learning to love my hair. I got to this place in life because of women like you. Not only did I learn to accept my hair, I learned to love all that makes me Black. I feel like a part of me equated my hair hatred to self hatred. Unless I was relaxed or jerry curled back in the day, I felt ugly. Thanks for your assistance in bringing out the real me!
I appreciate your videos, you are always positive. I learned how to love my natural hair and take care it. Girl, I rock with your channel. Keep doing you.
Chile! As a male creator in this space, the comments are really crazy! I stopped making videos, because after my first one, it was just annoying to have to dive through comments after every video! Then when it comes to into the inboxes, it’s just even worse! However I’m definitely coming back soon! Cause, there’s definitely a space for us!
I’m loving the robe and the necklace and the red lipstick. 💄 Thank you for talking about 4C hair. I love your videos and have been telling my sister and cousin who are natural about you.
I call my hair coily hair, as that's what I see.. A strand of bone straight hair, i say it looks straight, when I see my hair, it grows out forming circles on top of itself like the keychain coils, which stretches out into curls, waves, straight with heat, or afro when fluffed/ combed out. Simply coils. It is beautiful, and especially plush and soft, with a pleasant sheen when well moisturized/ hydrated -- the ultimate dilemma-, pleasurable to touch. It is a learning curve to understand how to nurture and care for my hair just like a plant . No denying the time it takes caring for it, yet you took the time and dedication to help others appreciate their hair strands. I appreciate you Latoya.
I believe and saw a comment about something along this lines. People, w people are so used to black people hating their features/ hair that when they see us rock it with confidence they're like : how dare you doing that. 4c is GORGEOUS 💁🏾♀️💁🏾♀️
It's soo sad how self hate among black people is everywhere...I live in Kenya where literally everyone around me is black with African features, and you'd think we'd have learnt to accept everything about ourselves.. But I still get people asking me when I'm "doing" my hair... And men asking if I need money for a salon appointment...colorism is still a BIIG issue here... And it's just sad how far deep self hate among black people runs.
I’m so glad you don’t let the comments deter you because I love your videos and your hair and I really appreciate the effort you put into your videos and I found you years ago when I could not find 4c representation and they make me happy.
We love your videos. They are positive and uplifting. They are often FUN. Always educational. Please forgive those of us who have said they "hate" their 4c hair. If you've NEVER had to manage it yourself and only know it straight (albiet damaged, broken off, heat and chemical damaged, BUT straight) the anxiety of handling 4c hair is real. And we have been taught to hate it. By society but mostly from our close circles (grandma, moms, best friends, relatives etc) telling us our natural hair is hard to deal with and natural hair is "nappy," and doesn't look well "groomed." It takes understanding 4c hair and learning styling and natural hair care to be ABLE to appreciate it. Your videos do that. Don't give up on (previously ignorant) peeps like me. That woman was bitterly crying out for help...but she was still 👀 you!! 🤗😇😁😘💕
We have to love ourselves and disregard what other people think. I guess I’m older so I don’t get it. My parents and grandma always gave me a positive image of myself so I didn’t care what anyone else thought.
I see what you mean but a lot of the time when I wear my natural hair people say mean things about it. Or don't see me as beautiful. One lady wm came up to me and said my adopted daughter is part black/ Mexican. Her hair is curly and beautiful. But your hair is Nappy... I'm just trying to by things at the store that wasn't cool you know
@@psalms1196 But honestly why should you care about someone like that. Clearly that person has issue with her own life to waste her time commenting on someone appearance she does not even know including a Kid !!!! I always respond with this type of people because they never expect it. They are not used to receive a taste of their own medecine. And I would have said "instead of worrying about my family looks you should focus on yours and your personality as clearly you need a LOOOOT of help". Next time she ll think twice before making a comment to anyone. I really can't stand people like that because I know that although they don't hurt me, they can hurt other people especially if they spread their hate on teenagers children and young adults.
@@heredianna2496 I was just caught off guard like she felt that she had the divine right to tell me that her daughter that was part black and Mexican her hair was prettier and my hair thats 4c and I'm full black that it's nappy! And ugly . Also it was 10am in the morning...
Yes, it’s unfortunate. Especially with so much representation today. Everyone is on their own journey, though. Sometimes you just gotta BE the representation for others.
Don't. It's not an ailment to put a chemical on your hair. They are no more or less because of it. I am afraid to do alot of things at first but it's not a handicap
❤️❤️this video!!! This is soooo needed. Convenient isn’t always best ladies. We all have different DNA, let’s embrace our beautiful hair. Continue giving more videos😊
I agree with you, representation really matters. I have low-to-medium density, fine 4A hair and I am hard-pressed to find influencers with 4A and particularly, low density hair. In fact, finding 4A hair videos is a challenge as many of the video results from my searches are really influencers with 3C/4A hair. I only have Naptural85, Naturalreign, Isimeme and Hazel Godesss in the 4A hair category who I follow and our hair densities differ so although curl definition may be similar I can never replicate their wash and go, braid out or twist out results in terms of volume and that is something I had to grow to accept. I refer to 4A hair as the frequently overlooked Type 4 hair as Type 4 hair conversations typically focus on 4B/4C hair.
Have you ever thought about creating your own content online? I think naturals with 4a low density are probably making content, but just aren’t as visible. Being 100 percent honest, people with high density tend to be more popular in social media. People are interesting…we SAY we want more representation, but only support the same kinds of people. It apparent in the views and likes on these platforms. It’s frustrating. I think maybe think about creating your own space on the internet…also check our forums. I saw so many different kinds of people. Way more diversity!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair You are correct. People love to see high density hair. I don't have the inclination to create content on social media and I have accepted my hair. You, Jenn J, NappyFu, etc. have promoted hair acceptance and have winning personalities. That is why I feel privileged to be subscribed to your channels. Also, I love shrinkage because it gives my hair the appearance of volume. I tend to stay clear of stretched styles so wash and go is my go-to style.
I went natural back in 2006 and at the time I knew no one whose hair looked like mine. I love seeing more channels popping up with hair like mine. It's weird that the things some people hate about "4c" hair are the properties that make it so unique and versatile. I love my hair, and I wouldn't want to change it in any way. Concerning the anime avatars: I think people just use them for the sake of anonymity. I've been a fan of anime and manga all my life, and none of the characters look like me. They don't really look like any real human. I'm sure there are some out there that are obsessed with that look, but it's more of a psychological issue than anything else.
Oh so you’re a REAL OG in the natural hair space. I love it!! Great insight on the anime thing. I think the character are cute. I only know one individual growing up who was obsessed to the point of hating themselves for not looking like the characters they loved. It’s definitely a case by case basis.
When I moved to Australia to study in Year 8, I was around a lot of white kids, my best friend was white and all my teachers were white, there was only a small population of kids from my home country that went to the same school and I used to compare my hair texture to not only the white kids, but also my friends from where I'm from, because a lot of the girls would relax (chemically straighten) because it was more manageable. And there was this one girl, who's white, she would always be intrigued by my hair, and touch it without asking. When I would wear my hair in a bun, she'd squeeze it and say "it's so cute". And I was too nice to tell her to stop, but it would make me feel insecure about my hair. But I also got to meet other Australians, The Torress Straight Islanders and they had similar jair textures, some were more 4c, other 3b or so but I felt connected to them because we were in the same boat practically. So when I start to feel down about my hair, i always remind myself that I'm proud to have that is so diverse and complex and unique
….Sorry you’re going through this. Maybe try to communicate to these people what you don’t want them to do/say. It’s takes courage to stand up for what you want if you fear it will ruffle some feathers, but in a way it’s an act of kindness to both parties. You will feel better over time and you give them the opportunity to acknowledge that something they are doing is hurting you. They may not have realized it and will stop. I hope this helps. ❤️
I honestly don’t know why our hair is seen this way. I had a very unfortunate experience with my own brother who is dating a mixed race lady. My brother would constantly tell me how beautiful her hair is and always had negative things to say about mine. That honestly made me love my hair even more. I love your hair content I’m here for it.
My biggest issue is others who won’t accept 4C hair. I constantly get questioned about not doing wash & go’s and my hair not staying straight. I’ve personally accepted that my hair loves braids and will flourish however, if I choose to wear a braid out or wash n go there’s the possibility it won’t turn out then I’ll be frustrated. We need more representation!! Nothing is wrong with 4C or type 4 hair!!!!
I think your content is very informative and fun to watch. I don’t have 4c hair but I’ve learned a lot about the best way to detangle from the way you do it. You have content for every woman. You are a very beautiful woman. You are always positive! Side note: Do you do voiceovers? You’d be great in voiceover work!
I love your content, you got me to try something new and learn about detoxifying my kinky hair. Through your videos it help me problem solve my issues too, thank you very much 😊
I've been following you so lately and I love your videos they're so motivating I've learned to love my 4c hair in my hair journey and it is almost bra strap length hoping to reach there before the end of this year!
Father God did not create bad hair we have this hair for a very special reason. We are the only people on the planet with this type of hair. When I was a child another child told me my hair looked like the inside of a coat, I was horrified. But now I love it, Thank you Father God for our uniqueness.
I support people who try to persuade others to embrace their natural hair in a respectful way and respect the choice of those who don't want to. A lot of it is about corrective reinforcement. It wouldn't be necessary to elevate natural hair so much if everything was already neutral. As long as that Tiktok sound "but I don't wanna be black, I wanna be white" is being used in serious ways, we will need to raise our voices above it. In all aspects, but especially when it comes to hair. I want our future generations to be black af and proud of it because we are beautiful.
Girl! Where are the lies??? The unrecognized self-hate is really sad, and I mean that sincerely. I was so nervous to go officially natural last year, but I am THRILLED that I did. I don't meet many other naturals, but I'm hoping to break barriers with my 2, 4b and 4c, daughters. If you like texturizers, wigs and weaves, fine, BUT....we have to be honest with ourselves regarding the true reasons we don't wear our 4c hair proudly and unapologetically. You are just so beautiful, from the inside out, and I appreciate you representing us 4c ladies so well.
I know a lot of those comments are meant to hurt people with my hair type but if/when I come across them it doesn’t really affect me because I can’t relate. It’s only your truth if you accept what is being said by others about your hair or you as the truth.
I agree on a personal level, but I think it’s a little more nuanced. Blackness has been weaponized against us so much. By society making fun or looking down on things like hair in many ways it justifies unfair treatment in the eyes of many. Just look at the media coverage on something horrible that happens. It’s always more tragic when the person is “beautiful”. If blackness is ugly, they don’t have to work as hard to fix the unfair treatment of us… But yes. I don’t accept it either. Just words to me when it comes in this form. It’s not that serious on the surface…but when we dig a little deeper…
To be honest growing up in the Caribbean 4c hair when short knotty we called picky hair. Or bad hair. So we grow up thinking when your hair is 3b it is nice/good hair. Thank God now we learn how to take better care of our 4c hair. And alot of us are loving our hair more. Atleast me. Our hair are special we can do so much styles with our hair which is amazing. Alot of people are trying for their hair to come like ours. It is just a bad mindset and we need to get out of it. I love to see long 4c hair and the nicest challenge if you can get it to a length that you desire. Watching the movie good hair inspired me to go natural and STOP relaxing my hair. Also watching UA-cam videos also is a great help.
Did that woman just say you were wrong for discouraging people from trying something that works for them, but turns around and does the same thing in the same breath. Talking out the side of her neck to me.
I love anime. Have 4c hair and a Nigerian. When I went natural of cos it was difficult to know how to take care of my hair but I love my hair whenever I let it down the stares and compliments on my hair is nice
I love your hair your the reason I went to a dermatologist to see what was cause my 4 c edges to look like they look and it’s inherent. I have Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. Even though I’m natural and he said it’s not reversible I’m not claiming it . Imma still massage my edges and do what I can do make this baby do something and they are. May not being doing much but hey. My husband is great like yours and tell me don’t hide them but when I do go out I use only satin and silk coverings around my edges But when I’m home girl I’m free lol. I keep saying imma be brave and post my journal on my UA-cam channel.
I have locs but I have 4C hair, I made a video about a bm making a comment about my locs. People are afraid of what they don't understand, I got comments at work recently about my locs at work it's fine, I can educate. But I'm done with relaxers and extensions. I don't want to wear another women's hair on my head anymore.
Hair typing is simply another way to divide us and I personally think it’s ridiculous!! We really need to stop it!! I LOVE my nappy, coily, kinky hair!!
What annoys me is that type 4 hair is so hard or it takes all day. On the brighter side there is so much support in the messages especially when it comes to someone needing help.
These folks in the comments you displayed are fully ignorant! And that’s ok, but you gotta WANT to learn! They don’t want to do any better! 4C hair is far from trash! It’s the most versatile, resilient, and strongest type of hair - IMO. God bless you for reading through this mess while continuing to know that these folks need your help 🤦🏾♀️
Haha! It took me a year to decided if I even wanted to give the comments energy. It’s annoying when people want to go out of their way to “try” to make a person insecure. It’s not working! 😂
I see it from all sides. Naturals belittle relaxed ladies vice versa. It's not that serious!!!! Some don't have the resources to do what you've been able to do or some may not have the time to go natural. Judgement is the issue
I got heat damaged hair and as much as I used to complain about my 4c hair I would love it back. Cus my hair is giving 'damaged 4b' right now and it ain't it at all. I want my healthy 4c hair back give me all the kinks 😍😍😍
My view on negative opinions is this: they don’t pay for my maintenance so they don’t count either way! If you love your hair, love it! This is all a learning process and a journey. Wear your fros, twist outs, braid outs, wigs, weaves, locs, whatever makes you happy. Family used to comment on my hair until I got my first press in 5 1/2 years and it’s nearly bra strap after the trim. 4c is versatile! Maybe now that I’ve gotten my hair properly attended to, maybe it’ll react better to braid outs and twist outs!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 that first sentence is gold. It’s interesting that so many people don’t appreciate type 4 hair until it’s straightened out and long. Welp, not our problem! Lol
I have 4D hair. It's rare and real.😊 My hair comes out in small balls. 4c hair is straight compared to mine. I use coconut water and massage it with a wide comb. Wash and blow dry to manage the hair. I love myself.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair okay I can see that. There are a lot of comments so I know I don't get a chance to see them all or I would be here all day. But I am still here for it! lol
Anime has nothing to do with being rude….. I hate that if a person likes to watch Anime we are labeled as weird or quirky. No. People need to stop with the stigmas bc we aren’t all like this. From a fellow natural hair anime/manga lover 😑
I worked in the tech industry for years and am also apart of the theater community. I have many friends and acquaintances who love anime. We label ourselves as a bit offbeat and quirky, but we love it. Sure, not all are like that, but a large portion are - and are proud of it. But you’re right, liking anime and being rude don’t correlate. I’m sharing a consistency I’ve noticed for years and thousands of comments on my channel. It triggered you, so I get why you responded that way, but it was framed as an observation, not an end all be all.
Just the idea of that we as black people, cant love ourself , we (85%)dont know how to keep our hair healthy and most dont want to unlearn (we dont have caucassiann hair) because there are a looot of old ingrained customs " my granny used to do it and her hair was "healthy" ect....makes me sad.
I don't think that this type of video is helpful for 4c viewers...it can be hurtful to watch as we already know the hate that comes with being our natural selves.
It is very beautiful. As I understand it, type 4 hair is the most delicate. Each curl is delicate. This why our hair is prone to breakage from harsh treatment. Black women are by nature beautiful and very delicate.
God made this hair. I always say to tell Him what He did wrong? You try to improve on what He created... We have been brainwashed to hate our own hair.
I have nothing like 4c hair, I simply watch you sometimes because of what a lovely person you seem to be. People can be so terrible sometimes.
I wish someone would…
@@indrinita You’re so sweet. ❤️ Yeah, some people suck lol! Sometimes it’s pain and sometimes it’s ignorance. It won’t stop the shine though ☺️
👏🏾 Wow what a powerful statement. Big ups to starpuppy. I absolutely love it!
I LOVE STARPUPPY
Why do Americans call black hair or 4C hair "nappy hair"? I don't like it. It sounds inappropriate and insulting.
I think the black community all over the world need to learn to love their hair. I have 4C hair and people like to ask me why don't I relax my hair. I don't have any plans of relaxing my hair ever again.
For some it’s an insult and for others they claim and use it with pride. For me, it depends on the context.
👏🏾👏🏾 That’s my GIRL!!!!
And that’s on PERIOD!!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair yasssssss yasssss! ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕💕💕💕
I have 4C hair and I love it and struggle with it. BUT, commenting that we have the most beautiful hair is contributing to the overall problem. So……what if someone has 3C etc…. i.e my daughters………Think about it….. Everyone’s hair is beautiful.
@@murphyslawschool9888 You're absolutely right!
@@murphyslawschool9888 okayyy????? I'm well aware and WHAT I SAID STILL STANDS. PERIOD
I don’t think we’re looking for approval just want to be left alone.
I hated the burns 😭 I can’t believe I didn’t feel I had a choice back then. Times have changed ladies and gentlemen! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@@LaToyaEbonyHair my skin would ooze and bleed for a week after!!! I remember my freshly relax hair being matted in it, and it was so painful untangle it out. Sorry, TMI and gross 🤢.

Same with me Movita! Relaxed hair since I was 9 years old ( my mom was done with my hair lol) It took a pandemic to keep me from my regular touch ups till I finally decided to just transition and go natural. Big adjustment but once I found the right products I am good! 😎🙌🏾

After 11+ years it’s a lot easier. Every once in a while one annoys me, but by the next day I’m over it lol! I’ve got a lot of practice.

Yessdd and looser hair tangles too!
I’m a Nigerian everyone around me HATES 4c hair including my mum they always complain about my hair but I’ll never make comments like these people
So the whole reason I went natural was cos my hair was all stringy and it gave me low self esteem which made me cut my hair off for about a year straight, then a friend of mine recommended me to your channel as well as Jenn Jackson and Star puppy (mind you I didn't even there was suck a thing as natural hair).
I once had a white person say I should change my hair style. I had a black teacher talk about my hair in front of the class for about 15 minutes.
Omg this video is about to make me cryyy 😩 way too real

I’m a new natural and 4c. I am guilty of thinking all hair curled because I just didn’t know. As you can see from my profile my hair is short. I’m loving the robe and the necklace and the red lipstick. 💄
Thank you for talking about 4C hair.
This is absolutely true for sure I'm from Kenya too and I do natural hair
Nothing will ever get me to hate my 4C hair again...nothing. 😎👊🏾

Yesss thanks for sharing your story. Loved it.
Father God did not create bad hair we have this hair for a very special reason. We are the only people on the planet with this type of hair. When I was a child another child told me my hair looked like the inside of a coat, I was horrified. But now I love it, Thank you Father God for our uniqueness.
If someone dislikes 4C hair, I'd say take it up with the creator - The Almighty. Disgusting behaviour and thinking. Stay blessed LaToya. 🙌🏾
Great point. 🙌🏾
Amen! We are fearfully and wonderfully made and to be praising God by embracing the way he made us ❤
I support people who try to persuade others to embrace their natural hair in a respectful way and respect the choice of those who don't want to.
You are speaking my language Vicky! YES!!!!
If blackness is ugly, they don’t have to work as hard to fix the unfair treatment of us…
But yes.
I saw that low battery on the screen and freaked out! I thought it was my phone dying🤣
Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, the negativity towards 4c continues to gather momentum......
I have not been able to prefect a WnG, but, I have perfected two strand twists, Bantu Knots, and flat twists and 😍
Try the Dickey method! ❤️
Our hair is the original and how it should be to handle the elements of the earth. Everyone else's hair is watered down from us😁.
your 4c hair looks better than mine.looks so moisturized and healthy noting compared to mine.
Ooooh...100,000 subbies coming!🌈👍🏼🔥
It’s creeping up!
Right! 4C girl … it takes time to learn your hair. It’s take years 😉 to figure it 🤷🏽♀️.
Girl why you does want me to be pulling out d pitch fork for these people, people are just annoying
Haha! It took me a year to decided if I even wanted to give the comments energy. It’s annoying when people want to go out of their way to “try” to make a person insecure. It’s not working! 😂
By listening to those comments I think will still have a lot of work. I really think representation is key.
I see it from all sides. Naturals belittle relaxed ladies vice versa. It's not that serious!!!! Some don't have the resources to do what you've been able to do or some may not have the time to go natural. Judgement is the issue
I have 4a/4b hair and love it I can do so much with it I think 4c hair is beautiful to
I got heat damaged hair and as much as I used to complain about my 4c hair I would love it back. Cus my hair is giving 'damaged 4b' right now and it ain't it at all. I want my healthy 4c hair back give me all the kinks 😍😍😍
Aww.. Lavishly savage's comment made me sad bc I've admittedly been there. 😞
Lol
Girl the haters wish they had your hair. They hate their dog fur. They want real beautiful hair like you.
I feel sorry for people who hate 4c hair... I love mine especially in a fro 😍
I have 4D hair. It's rare and real.😊 My hair comes out in small balls. 4c hair is straight compared to mine. I use coconut water and massage it with a wide comb. Wash and blow dry to manage the hair. I love myself.
I’m happy to hear it.
I👏 am 👏here👏 for 👏this! Dont block the names let everybody see the ugly within.
🤔 Didn’t think of it quite that way. I thought that since the comments were public already, I’d just leave them as they are 🤷🏾♀️
@@LaToyaEbonyHair okay I can see that. There are a lot of comments so I know I don't get a chance to see them all or I would be here all day. But I am still here for it! lol
I am feeling hurt by the fact that you are getting the worst comments about 4C hair. Maybe I'm being over sensitive. Let me watch the full video.😔🤔
4C hair is trash?! We were born this way 🙄🙄
I love anime but most who do are very racist without realizing 😔 but that ppl was just trash 🗑
I used to come after rude commenters.. Then I would report them.
😂 Well, no need this time. I’ve only gone after ones attacking my family. Those I don’t let slide. Say what you want about me, but not my family.
God made black people hair 4c for a reason we are unique people you should love yr hair features and lovely skin tones
👏👏👏🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️
🥰😊🥰
Hi, I wish people like themselves all hair is good hair at least you're not bald!
I don't think that this type of video is helpful for 4c viewers...it can be hurtful to watch as we already know the hate that comes with being our natural selves.
4-C hair is beautiful. It’s the strongest!
Is your hair really 4C though?
Yes.
