This Foxwell NT604 code reader allows you to scan and view live data as well as read and clear vehicle specific codes on the engine (DME), transmission, ABS and SRS modules. This is huge as getting brand specific codes gives you a lot more information compared to the generic OBD2 codes and allows you to troubleshoot issues much faster. Save money by not going to the dealer or confirm that your mechanic isn't charging you for something that isn't broken. Diagnose at home and save!

Great review. Because if one were to read the amazon reviews, one would be led to believe that it only reads transmission codes (if they were to come up) and not that this device actually shows you LIVE TRANSMISSION...which is critical because you would be able to tell that a transmission is slipping ("input shaft speed data") which is absolutely critical if buying a used car
Yes, exactly! They don't mention this stuff because they seem to cater to DIYs or someone that wouldn't know how to use it, but I was able to fix a few issues with live data. Very helpful.

Thanks for the review, it gave me the confidence to buy one. Now I have a question. When you scan for DTCs, it comes up with two menu options once the scan is complete: "Current DTC" and "Other". What is "Other" supposed to be? Are they maturing? Historic? or a reference of all the possible ones? The manual shows one of the more upscale model screens and the menu choices on those are a little different. Thanks!
Depending on the car it would be permanently or pending codes.

what do you think the nt6x4 is it now has 2 special function's it will not update as it is registered to my neighbor that moved and sold it so when they clear it to me it may get the middle number and more special function's

can i clear these codes with this obd tool--i have this problem with my 2010 ford focus diesel car, i sent the instrument cluster away but when it came back car wouldent start the people who resoldered some of the joints on cluster emailed me with this
The Ford Focus has DTC codes that are stored separately from the ECU and these codes will show up on the driver's information screen located in the gauge cluster. Ford has a list of DTC codes that can come up and what they mean. If You have a code E510 D900 then that means that there is a communications fault for the ignition, as well as a communication fault with the transmission. Usually this means that Your car will not start. This most commonly happens when the wiring to the ECU gets damaged and it does not get a signal from the transmission or the ignition system.
Does this allow you to put the car in a service position like for breaks, disengaging the parking break ???

Hello...very nice video...stupid question possibly, but can you tell me if this tool has the ability to tell me why my a/c isn't blowing cold air please? I have tried a can of A/C Pro Refrigerant as recommended to no avail. I have been advised with many different reasons but would like to get a more accurate explanation before taking it into garage for diagnostics.
Hi! Unless there is a failed electronic component, this tool won't tell you why it's not blowing cold air. Most likely you have a major leak somewhere or your AC compressor isn't working. Best way to figure this out is to hook up the gauges and see if there is pressure in the system. Good luck and thanks for watching!

This is the most basic model so it does not support ABS bleeding. The NT644 can perform ABS bleeding.
Will this work with active handling codes and steering angle sensor readings?
This may not be the scanner for you. If you need to clear active handling codes and SAS, you will need a scanner that supports all modules (this one supports engine, transmissions, ABS and SRS only).

I have ABS and ESP warning lights on my dash. Can this tool tell me exactly which part is faulty? Can it pinpoint which wheel sensor is faulty or if the ABS pump is faulty?
I’ve got a similar problem. I have a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali and have a “Service Stabilitrak” light on. Just ordered this scanner from Amazon and am waiting to receive it. It did mention in the comments that it can read all ABS and Stabilitrak codes. So looking forward to scan my car. I’ll let you know what it says if you’re still curious.
@@antuanla1519 I got a ThinkDiag instead, so much cheaper. It identified my pump as the cause.
It didn’t clear my abs codes even after fixed. Any troubleshooting I can do? It said cleared on the foxwell unit but not the vehicle.
Did you go to the ABS module and cleared the module specific codes? After clearing, when you check for codes again in the same place are they back?
So this scanner will show what cylinder is miss firing?

to bad they do not save the data in one place. i ran mine today and found codes and it only save on set of data this is a poor way to have to use one of these having to save and enter names for every section when it allow the save data mode

They have a list on their website and I would also recommend asking on the Amazon page as they respond there pretty quick.
Do you need the key ignition on to do a proper scan ?
Yes, the car should be in ACC (accessory) mode. It could be different for different cars. On most, just turn the key right before starting the car, on some (like newer BMWs), you have to triple click the start button and the car goes in to 'diagnostics mode'
If you have a BMW buy a refurbished laptop with large memory and large disc space, EBay $250. Then buy ISTA+ which is the proprietary BMW diagnostic software that the dealer uses, EBay $30. Plus a DCAN cable.
From there you can truly work on your BMW like a professional.
I have one of those and I've used it for programming new modules etc after an engine swap, but this is much more convenient and works on different makes of cars.
Nothing compares to ista! And anybody with it would throw out any scanner in a heart beat. Ista is the absolute best software for Bmw. No comparison.

I just bought one recently. Can you operate this scanner with car fully turned on? Or only when you put the key in and turn it once to get the battery on?
Yes, you can operate in accessory mode or when the car is running.
I took my car to oreillys and it had said transmission request on the obd. Do anyone knows what that mean . ? Is it low on transmission fluid or something because it doesn’t give me any transmissio
You'd need the actual code to get more information. Otherwise everyone will just be guessing.

No, it cannot so current testing. I have done reviews on some units that have battery clips and can do actual CCA test etc. I’d recommend that instead

I’ve never worked with GMC or 90s cars, so I have no personal experience here. According to the manufacturer, it should support anything starting at 1996, but it will be just basic OBD2 functionality.
So all models of car work from 96

I'm not familiar with Audi inspection lights. Do you mean like 'state inspection' or oil reset lights?
There would be a service inspection light at certain mileage set for service schedule… idk if this obd is capable of removing any light indicators

Hey do you know how to download the software for this model NT604. I went on the website but this model is not on there.
I don't remember 100%, but I think I just downloaded FoxAssistSetup from www.foxwelltech.us/support-tools.html for NT624 and it worked to update it.
