I actually liked it. It is a sweet song, nothing special, but it's sincere. Malik pours his soul out and it shows. The rap part especially makes it sincere..

@@sara1coco This song is honesty. I'm shocked with how people say anxiety and existencial crisis, being overwhelmed, with a damaged mental health and suffering nostalgia is "generic". How is generic? How many times do you see this kind of rap in ESC? Tons of real generic songs with no personality are being praised each year (like Greece this year, sorry but sounds too artificial) but when someone sings about his internal issues and real worries is "nothing special"? Is obvious rap is not well recieved in this contest (even Ukraine, a favourite, is disliked exclusively for the rap) but saying is bland or generic makes zero sense.

Make me a list of 10 songs from a random radio station you picked up while driving your car with this song among them. 99% of People wouldn't be able to tell this song apart from the others, simply because it has No recognizable value to it. It's neither good, nor bad, it's just another cliche radio song among millions with no memorable parts that stand out in any imaginable way, no catchy beat, no unique melody nor voice, even the visual presentation of the song is as lazy as it gets.
The people in charge who sent this to the ESC surely don't have any Intentions or goals of winning the contest or score good at all.

Germany is not taking it seriously, the Public supported "Pump It" by "Eskimo Callboy", but it wasnt even let into the national finals cause its not a "Radio Song".
There was a Petition with over 100K signatures to give them a chance which was ignored, any critique on how we decide our entry got ignored, the public opinion got ignored.
Thats the state of Eurovision in Germany.

Amazing… I am loving this song and the performance. He has got a great voice, comes across as a talented musician who is writing his own materials and the lyrics are moving and very relatable. I also love the childhood pics of him in the background. It is something everybody can recall, the days when as children we felt invincible and as life goes on there is no going back. Seeing his dad in the audience with tears in his eyes is awesome too. The performance is flawless and the rap is the real highlight and gets so intense and highlights the meaningfulness of what he has to say. Chapeau Malik, this performance rocks!!! Good luck, they will love this one in Italy ...

as I've cried when I first heard Germany 2018, I cried when I first saw this performance. The sincerity in his voice when he sings this song is gonna capture the audience in May.

I've listened to this song two times now and had to shed a few tears both times. I think that that's the best thing music can do: voice our inner worries and musings en make us feel better and understood. Many songs and artists try that and it somehow feels so flat and cold to me, here: you can immediately feel it and I believe many ESC viewers at home will be drawn to this gem in the Grand Final. And to make your parent so proud: just warmed my heart! This is definitely in my top 3 next to Belgium and Ukraine. It's just so emotive and utterly beautiful! Thank you, Malik and good luck!!!

It's not underrated, it is a bland and weak radio friendly cliche pop song. IT litteraly Sounds like 99% of all the songs in your car the moment you turn on the radio and it doesnt set itself apart from those Songs in any considerable way. The song is neither good, nor bad, it just exists and nobody will remember it, because it doesn't have anything memorable to it, and that's why it wont get pass the 20th place

I think that this is the best choice for Eurovision this years selection. Rockstars is a decent song with a nice Melody. The most important thing is the message of this song that a lot of people will identify. Malik’s voice is amazing and the song stays in mind. I am proud of Germany this year and in such bad times we always have to be thankful for what we have!

So kommen wir als Deutsche immer nur als unzufriedenes Meckervolk rüber. Und das macht uns sowas von unsympathisch, was sehr bedauerlich ist. Denn wir können auch anders, was wir gerade in der Hilfe für Ukraine beweisen. Ein bisschen mehr Emotion tut uns generell gut.
