The 1986 USC Segovia Masterclasses were open to the public. I attended one day during the week and I think this is the one I attend. I grateful having seen Segovia because the next year he died. Thank you!
Very interesting, Segovia seems to have a fixed mental image of every piece he played. I always wondered why he increased the tempo of the Allemande in Ponce's a minor suite so much, did he think that necessary? But actually here he had you slow it down slightly, it's as if a recording of the way he played the piece is stuck in his mind and no other interpretation is allowed, yet this Allemande in particular is played far faster than the usual Allemande. In any case you did a good job of adapting to Segovia's suggestions on the fly. Will check out the Las Folias variations too.
The difficulty of verbal communication regarding the 'abstract' art of music, with MK - one of the very best performers of his generation, c.f. his 1987 recordings for 'Innovative Productions Ltd' - and the 89 years old Segovia communicating across the generations.
Marcelo, que maravilha! Segovia ficou impressionado com vc, não há a menor dúvida quanto a isso. Às vezes não dava p perceber quem ensinava a quem!!! Obrigado por compartilhar!!
Segovia was right on, I could hear this before he said anything, too young and could not hear it being out of tune. In all my seven years of lessons with him he maybe stopped me two or three times, almost always let me play the entire piece, he really liked my playing.
This is great, Mercelo! Thank you for sharing. You played beautifully, and Segovia was awesome with you! :)
Muito bom Marcelo. Um registro histórico super importante. Estive em Santiago de Compostela em 1979 mas não tive essa grande oportunidade.
Edson Lopes my dear friend Edson Lopes... respect

"You must be the 'general' of your fingers... don't go too fast..." 😂 Muito bom o vídeo. Obrigado por compartilha-lo, Marcelo!
Oh what a privilege to hear and watch The Maestro teaching.

I know the importance of the accents, but in the case of Segovia's playing he sometimes used to exaggerate the accents.
prettyimpressive comments by Segovia about interpretation at age 93..
Master without Harmonik and melodic knowledge 😢
Wow, what a ear the old man had! But his "accents" are actually exaggerations; one can be a good instrumentalist but still have bad taste.
He plays it better than Segovia!
Segovia sang too high and let the player retune the guitar to no result.
Bad fake Music - what a waste of time!
