I have a natural sc1000 and they are very good guitars very under appreciated ,some day they should become collectable on just how good they sound and play,I would say of all Japanese guitar makers Yamaha builds the best in terms of quality construction, and some of these guitars from late 70s to late 80s are worth collecting.
I’ve read descriptions of this guitar and they advertise 13 pickup combinations but I can’t figure that out. If each pickup has an “on” and “off” position, that’s a total of 7 combinations. What am I missing?
There are 3 positions for each switch, on, off, and on with opposite phase. This gives you every combination of the three pickups in phase and out of phase. Some of the positions duplicate though, e.g. you can have two picks up, which is in phase, or both down, which is also in phase.
I had two different versions of this guitar at one time. From what I can remember the bridge position switch had three positions on, off, on same with the middle pickup while the neck pickup had just an on and off switch. The combinations were: 1 Bridge only 2 Bridge and middle in phase with each other 3 Bridge and middle out of phase with each other 4 Middle only 5 Middle and neck in phase 6 Middle and neck out of phase 7 Neck only 8 Bridge , middle, neck in phase 9 Bridge out of phase with middle and neck 10 Bridge and neck in phase while the middle was out of phase 11 Bridge and neck in phase 12 Bridge and neck out of phase 13Bridge and middle out of phase with the neck That was hard work (-:
