Forty years ago! - This album epitomised the heady days of the Apollo moon missions and the impact it had on my generation born in the late 1950s - it was indeed a Moonage Daydream. Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars are synonymous with that wonderful era back in the early 1970s - Thanks for sharing a superbly nostalgic memory of the place where this incredible album was created.
Voted most influential album of the decade. So true, this album changed my life. Bowie turned me on in many different ways, not least the expanding of my mind...helped along by certain illicit substances, but hey, tell me Bowie wasn't indulging himself and his ego, & I call you a liar, but without it, the creation of his alter ego; Mr Stardust, may have evolved very differently...or not at all. Brrr, *shivers* can you imagine a world without Ziggy & Aladdin & The Duke, etc? Pure Genius.
Witnessed all this from its birth, I was a regular visitor. My pal, the late great Willie Palin persuaded two real South London characters only just on the right side of the law, Lesley and Lance who were used car tyre dealers in their shop above, to pump money into his madcap scheme to convert their basement into a rehearsal studio.
Going to see this today and im going to nicely, kindly beg the chemist to see this, the rehearsal room after having visited the bar opposite having consumed very much alcohol,a bit of Norse Courage...;-)
Great little video. I would like to embed this into my web page as I was a very good friend of the late Will Palin who helped build the studio and later worked as road crew member of "Ground Control" for David Bowie. My page is a tribute to Will Palin. Is this possible ?
the last comment, that only one album bla bla bla...if Iggy was rehearsing here it was for Raw Power.. i;d say thats a music scene altering album too. FFS
