The van was acting up and I got a great deal on everything. You are correct, the distributor was fine. However, it had been in the van for nearly 20 years. I just wanted to install all new parts to make sure it was running great especially before the winter hit. Thank you for watching.
@@TerenceDIY got it on first try lol. I appreciate it. I'm having trouble with the camshaft sensor.. code reader says "camshaft position sensor A circuit" I had this problem before changing the distributor. I have put two different sensors in and same thing. I took a voltmeter to the cam plug and I have ground but there is no power going to that sensor. I then checked voltage after the plug thinking maybe the plug is screwed but still no power. I did a continuity test on the signal wire and meter stayed at 0. I then check continuity at the power wire but It is going under the fuse block under the hood according to online and not really sure what to do now LOL.
@@TerenceDIY nevermind I found the issue. The camshaft sensor wires were pinched and weren't even connected besides the ground wire lol. I'll stop bothering you now lol. Thanks for your help!
The problem im experiencing is after the engine starts, it's idle is so rough that it bogs down and shuts off. After it warms up with some very slight reving (I know it's not good to rev a cold engine) it's fine unless im sitting at a light, at which point it tires to shut off because of the idling. Thanks for the vid, it'll help!
@@TerenceDIY 2004 chevy astro vortek engine, 4.3 I changed the distributor yesterday and it fired right up and stayed on with no rough idle. Vid was excellent.
Hi Kevin, I doubt its the distributor unless you removed it and did not reinstall it correctly. Is it trying to start or just spinning (no spark)? You should test for spark before you go any further. Thanks,
@@TerenceDIY it's actually stop running now when it died on me the first time i was driving i assume it was ⛽ pump it was replace and started but ran bad an blk smoke out the tail with new cap and rotor and plugs not it won't start at all I'm going to replace the distributor
Hey man awesome video, thanks for taking your time to make it. I am a little confused about how you did the wires. Before you removed the distributor that the wires were on wrong? I'm confused as to how to make sure the wires go back in the same plug. Do you have a video that shows how to remove that engine cover in the cabin?
Hi, the wires were not on wrong, I just know them by hard. To make things easy for you, you can write a number on the wires and on the cap as well. I apologize for not showing how to remove the cover as it is very simple. I do have a 2008 express van video where I show how to remove the engine cover but it's a little different. There are quite a few videos on UA-cam that shows how to remove the cover. Once again, I am sorry for not showing that. Thank you SO much for watching.
This is a great DIY video - no stupid music, no foolishness, Just a smart man doing a job and showing us what he's doing. Thank you.

Remove the screen under the cap and rotor there known for condensation in the distributor cap.
This is exactly what I'm going thru... I checked the distributor it has slight wobble but will start with with shot of starter fluid. Very helpful...
just a hint , always cover the dist. hole, theres a glemlin in there that grabs small screws and tools
Key point, put it back in the direction it was pointed, thankyou. So many other vids spend 20 minutes to bring you back to this simple procedure.

your distributor timing or your timing gear is still off. That's why its such a hard start. let me guess, you have code p0016?
