This Theme is so legendary and so iconic for Tales, it really makes you wonder why it never has been used apart from "Phantasia" and "Symphonia". Imagine, if every Tales game had it's own rendition of this legendary piece!
My understanding is because it’s specifically the theme for battles against the summon spirits in the Phantasia/Symphonia universe, so they want to kinda reserve it for that context to preserve the song’s meaning and impact? That’d be my line of reasoning anyway.
A new version of this song officially came out in 2021 that has the metal/rock and roll feel that these remixes have, it came from the game "Another Eden"
Can you imagine that in 2020 this game is already 25 years old .. Got my SFC Edition for 23.. was the first (JRPG) game I truly fell in love with, right after Super Metroid :>
So f**king awesome! Nothing better than driving home late at night, putting this on at max volume and just blazing away the road in front of you. Thank you Tales, for giving a broken soul such limitless inspiration
@@ElectTheMusic I have weird soft spot for that game, mostly because it came out when I was in college and my roommates and I did a group playthrough of it, and had so many wonderful inside jokes that we still quote today. However, it *is* an objectively bad game, lol.
my inspiration, the series i never touched but i liked the music, and the series i just look up to play someday... are you implying they are connected by motoi sakuraba or something?
After beaten Tales of Berseria and listen to this again, i wonder if sometime comes a new Tales Game with Spirits and this Music. I loved the encounter of this most strong enemys in my first playthrough of Tales of Phantasia and Symphonia. So much adrenalin.
This song is probably why my favorite "tales of" game is still Phantasia. I mean growing up I was playing Tales of Phantasia, but Berseria is definitely the best game in the series. But Phantasia is peak nostalgia AND the S.S.H remixes are fucking awesome.
This is great! I came here looking for something like this done to "Castle of the Dhaos," but didn't find anything for that song. Stumbled upon this instead and I can safely say this search didn't bear *no* fruit!
@omgitsdash I used to be able to listen to mainstream music. But now I have an iPod full of amazingly awesome music to listen to. I don't even bother with my car radio anymore. If I forget my iPod I just listen to the sound of the wind.
I knew it was a remix, didn't know it was in every game though, thanks for telling me that. The reason why I asked is because I'm interested in hacking Fighting of the Spirit into a Fire Emblem game, possibly.
For those of you who still want to download this mix, you can still get it from his site. Just go to his site, ssh(dot)ne(dot)jp/index.php/mp3(remember to replace the (dot)s) and download the 04 zip under [Old Arrange]. The track's title is top-fots_ssh.
@holykirby95 This tune is based on an in game battle theme. (from ToP/ToS, maybe the others too) And is probably the most epic theme ever, so no wonder the feeling.
its meant to add character to the song, sometimes songs build up and then kick off...its that moment of anticipation, and then elation when it hits hard
Awesome! It reminds me so much of "Dawn of Sorrow" from Raiden III's stage 3, when you attack the enemy naval fleet and offshore ocean platforms. This would fit in SO well in any Raiden game!
+MastaGambit Stage 2 music of Raiden III is basically a cover of Vampire Killer from Castlevania. That and Stage 3's track name show that the composer is a Castlevania fan
+Furry Fox Jet Pilot I love you. For mentioning Raiden and how this would fit well as a stage theme. Raiden is among one of my favorite Shmups of all time.
Pretty sure both soundtracks were handled by Motoi Sakuraba. I'm not sure how many other tales of games he made music for.. But Fighting of the Spirit is a staple among a number of them.
OMG I loved this game back in the day, I remember when it 1st came out like 12 years ago with a horrible ROM translation, it really has gone a long way!
Demon Fang, Demon Fang, Double Demon Fang, Light Spear, Guardian Field, Rising Phoenix. Dhaos explodes and turns to ashes from this vicious attack and this epic metal.
That's a good comment and all, and I completely agree with you, but there's just one problem. You didn't click the reply button. The guy you intended to give the message to hasn't got the message.
It's actually very fun. They did the most they could have with the game on the GBA. They had all of the extra sidequests and stuff in the Playstation version and it also had the best voice acting in the whole series; even better than Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
Well, sadib, it kinda does help it, in my opinion. Why should a remix artist be restricted by the original song? If Saitama (the artist of this version) wants to make his own remix of this song, he should still be entitled to SOME creativity, as any other person should be as well. And at that, he didn't even ruin anything in the song; in fact by injecting his own elements into, and switching the order of some parts, it makes this song much more appreciable and respectable as a REMIX.
I know this has nothing to do with this particular song... but it makes me want to randomly go: "Zan! Kuu! TENSHOUKEEEEEENNN!!!!!!!!" (lol sorry been playing ToVs. and I'm hooked on Kyle's Hi-Ougi!)
@Gandufalo well umm.... i like the the old school final fantasy's there good!! im right now playing ff5 but the tales series i actually grew up with so the series has sentimental value which makes it feel more special
This remix is better then the orignal better then the one in tales of symphonia, better then any other remix. this makes me wanna go berserk with those dam elemental monster!!!
@tarkeke agreed, and crap i accidentally clicked the spam button when i tried to click the reply button lol. but yes i whole heartedly agree with you, Symphonia was the best, Abyss is fun too tho. i loved Vesperia, havent beaten Phantasia yet, Symphonia 2 was ok... had some pretty hilarious quotes i.e. "courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality" i can say that who ever had the courage to dream that into reality had some spunk, i almost died of laughter when i heard that from richter.
SSH's covers were the epitome of cool to me when I was in middle school. 14 years later, they still are!
Yea

The only 2 Tales games i finished. Translated ps1 version of Phantasia and the Gamecube version of Symphonia which i still own today.

Where has this remix been all my life. Holy damn, that was a big hit of Dopamine.
Slic-fucking hell ya it's been months like 2016 kinda long since I found this and it still holds as one of my favorite rock covers to this day
Like for the dopamine mention
I think this is one of the ones I used to listen to in the 1990s.
It's like my childhood just hit me full force...I'm actually crying. This is fantastic!
I see what you did there

guitarwaytoheavenboy feel exactly the same way...
let me guess ... Klarth plays the bass (or maybe is Origin) Arche on the drums Cless on keyboards and . . . Dhaos on the electric guitar solo!
No amount of toilets in the world can contain the bricks i was shittng from the pure awesomeness of this remix.
did you ever recover from the incident sir

SSH still after all these years, I have this on every device. Love you
Tales of Symphonia basically took the theme from Tales of Phantasia. It was a nice throwback to their predecessor.
Strange how this song didn't return for Tales of Symphonia 2.
