Such a sweet little wren! The way you are able to paint his eye so easily fascinates me. Always appreciate your great teaching and I am able to see your beautiful artwork completed. I think I have found a place in the kitchen for my goldfinch. My husband wanted to hang a painting I only considered ok & a practice session up on his bathroom wall. Did frame my painting and looks good there as we both decided! Only can thank you for bringing me this far in with my painting projects and Michael who has been encouraging & reminds me I do need a new desk chair so will be purchasing one soon. Have a great afternoon & an even better evening!
I am, at the ripe old age of 99, going t ake up painting again. What a marvelous little bird and you are a wonderful teacher. I absolutely think I could do that, with your wonderful instruction. Since my husband passed I absolutely have found the thing to fill in the hours. Thank you so much Mr. Nansen. Pat
Thank you so much David. You really have a great mighty touch that you put on every strokes of your brush. Very exciting and always have something new to learn.
I was very interested in how this small bird is designed here with the bushes and the implied flowers. Now I did this lesson and enjoyed very much your teaching, Thank you, David!
Good to know that there's a non-toxic MDF! I was refusing to use MDF despite its "great" surface! Thank you, David, the little wren is such a sweetheart! 🤩
Sir, This is so amazing . Sir please do a video on Australian wren . Thanks Sir for bird videos. I have done this with water colours it came out well. You are a great teacher.
Your videos are amazing, they are so relaxing to watch. I especially enjoy your bird paintings.I actually want to paint one for my mother. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us!
Such a beautiful bird and such lovely little flowers! I'll try to paint it soon wirh great joy. This will be my first bird. Can't wait. Thank you for this New Year Present! Happy New Year! 🌟
Grelt demonstration as always - really nice background with all the abstract interpretation of light and stuff as movements in relation to the energy of the little bird - lovely style showing a wonderfull understanding of relationship and the wonder of mystery and loose blurring edges in relation to a dynamic balance of freedom and control - so beautifull 🧡
I love how you get the mottling (I think because you used a retarder?) and your blending is amazing! I painted with you a few years back you are such an inspiration!
Hallo, Artist, excellent, natural , earlier I did watch some of your paintings like flowers , All are inspiring to me. Thanks 🙏, Best wishes to you for Happy New Year, now 1st day of 2022 , I do Landscaping, living in Canada 🇨🇦. Bye Zz/ Zeenat.
I really like the little wrens. The Carolina wren was my first bird I ever painted from one of your lessons. This should be a fun one! Thanks for all you do David and happy new year! 🎊🎆🎈
Mine as well Matthew. That is why the wren is our studio logo. Hey, I just posted a fun Cauchois painting in the MeWe group. I know you like Cauchois!!!
Lovely, thank you. I wonder if one day you could paint a couple of Jays on a branch, either European or Blue Jays, I would love to see that! Happy New Year, stay safe!
I love this "blending of styles" style. If I saw this painting in a gallery I would want to buy it. I can see why this style sells so well for you. Its preciously beautiful. 😂❤
Hi, I just discovered you a day or 2 before Christmas and watched a couple of videos. I've been watching and following other acrylic artists for awhile and I do like your technique, your paintings remind me of oil paintings of the old masters. I perused your website and was interested in your classes. I was wondering which one would you recommend to get a grasp of your technique as a beginner of this tonal method? You also have a Bob Ross thing about you. Thanks.
Hi Ken, The overall best seminar class we have is the S202 Art of Seeing. It by far covers the most information and techniques in the widest genre. It is also a never ending class, which mean it will never stop. I add to it each month and will never stop. I knew Bob Ross very well 😀
Hello David. I've been watching for some time and this is my first time to comment. Can you say what ratio of the extender to paint that you use for your larger quantities of paint that you premix? I recently got my first set of Heritage paints and mediums along with some Fusion brushes and I'm eager to get started. I played around with the paints to get to know them and I'm thrilled with the pigment load and the rich viscosity. I've only ever used low end paints before so this will be a big step forward for me. A million thanks for your absolutely brilliant video instructions!
Thanks, Terry! Consider joining our Heritage group on MeWe.com. Lots of help and suggestions there. I teach in that group every day. To make "global" acrylics I mix about 20% Extender into the acrylics and let it sit open for a couple days, stirring every 8 hours. This allows the water to evaporate out of the paint replacing it with the very slow drying extender. Snap the lid on the container when you at a consistency you like and it will stay nice for years. 😀
I buy large sheets of MDF from a wood supplier and cut the sizes. You can also find it from time to time at a home store. You can order cut panels of hardboard from Dick Blick or amazon.
