I love y'all so much for making these videos. Brownsville made me into the strong black woman I am today. Yeah, we saw lots of stuff (good and bad) coming up, but life is rough everywhere. Brownsville stand up!!!
Sonny T. I love your videos man. My family grew up around 139-145 Lenox in Harlem. Brooklyn is like another world to me as I never had any family over there. Live in Maryland now as my parents got me out of NYC in the 70's but I love your work man. Keep it up!
yea,us older dudes gotta step up and do our part, help our baby moma rais ours even if we aint with her,not only for little man(our sons)but we gotta show our daughters how a man is to treat a woman.this Channell is a good start Sonny, communication.if its a day us OG's can unite and do something,I'm in.We need it.Keep it up.I predict this channel getting stronger and bigger.
Betsy Head Pool was the shit back in the day. I lived in Van Dyke and me and my younger brothers would hit up the pool in the summers in the late 70s early 80s. Those were the days.
Sonny i like your documentaries bro, please keep shining the light on the situation cuz eventually somebody is gonna see it and do whats right to make the ville a better place, and from the looks of brownsville does have hope and looks to be a decent place to be its jus as you said the people really need to come together in the community and stop the violence and learn to co exsist wit one another, god bless Sonny
Brilliant sonny. Brilliant money. This is enlightenment for all of those who really don't understand how Brownsville is, was, and potentially what is to come. Coming from a guy who grew up in Harlem, I can relate to certain aspects of your Brownsville hood. We have to do better. Once again I commend you, and keep voicing yourself through video. It's powerful, hard hitting, and educational. Stay positive bro.
Just watched this video, MOP brought me here. I am English but live in the country in France. I have visted Canarsie, Glenwood projects and Coney Island projects. Maybe next time I am over I can slide through Brownsville
Thank you for posting this video. I live in East New York, alot of the stuff you guys talked about, I see here as well. Crime is rising, I feel we were left here to die. At least that's how it feel here at the projects.
Good Work Brothers I love what yall are doing..The footage is crisp and clear & audio is on point I almost feel like I'm there..This brings good awareness to the community..You should do a East New York tour also..Much love keep them videos comin!!
Word is bond, 35 years later, and I still won't go into B-ville man ... I'll pass through, or maybe play a few pickup games on Linden, but that's it man.
I remember buying a pair of British Walkers from Stadler on Belmont, and when I came outside there was about six dudes waiting for me. They chased me up Rockaway, only stopping when they saw a cop walking down from Pitkin. I was able to make it to the bus, and didn't begin breathing easy until I made it to the C train. And by the way, even though I could hold my own back in the day, I wouldn't dare ride the last train on the 4. Everything dude says about the 4 in this video is true.
Yeah it's as bad as you heard it was I'mma old head from Bed-Stuy across town, remember your colors when in Brooklyn Brownsville,Fort Green and Redhook dont go there word. Bedstuy Crown Heights can give it to you too shout out to Marcy, LG,Thompkins,Sumner,Roosevelt,Breevort. East New York Linden,Pink Houses,Cypress Brooklyn is the truth my dude, that's only a few projects, shout out to Albany PJs Crown heights...
Thanks for the insight. I am planning on moving to BK from Miami after College; but people say it's very dangerous. it's pretty much dangerous everywhere now a days. thanks again.
That bridge was very dangerous. The same thing happened to my mom back in the day; but he did not get her back; he just popped the strap. My mother scared him off. It was dark; and as we were getting ready to cross the side going into East New York; that sorry bastard came flying up the stairs on the Livonia side and tried to snatch my mothers pocketbook.
Peace. What's up Sonny & Money. I don't have to ask "what's good?" cause I see ya'll do'n ya thing. Keep it Bruhs, especiallyl with the history of the 'Ville (never ran, never will). There are a lot of young-ins who need to know what existed before them there. I DEFINITELY feel the segment about riding the last car on the #2 (back then) and the # 4 trains (many times it was like the wild, wild west back there!, lol) Looking forward to seeing more of these jewels. Keep press'n Bruhs. Peace.
Just dont wear no Chains or rings on cuz the second you walk away. other thugs will get ya..Then there will just be beef with the dudes that bought u out there u and the dudes that robbed u..People out there be in beef so much it becomes natural U get use to it...
THese videos are dope sometimes i try to explain to niggas around me here about the ville and they think im making shit up until i play these vids and they hear you guys the say the same shit i have been saying all along.... Dope keep them coming ......... A DO A VIDEO ON THE CRACK HEADS AND HOMELESS CATS OUT THERE, LIKE ROBIN IN VANDYKE SAMMY IN GLENMORE DOCUMENT THEM BEFORE THEY PAS THEY HAVE CRAZY LIFE STORIES....... KEEP UP THE HOOD WORK FAM...
these oldheads sound cracked out! one moment they're talking about the youngsters wildin the next moment they're Biggin up the robbing and crime in 70s 80s.
The same shyt in my hood...they say today young kids need their asses kicked but they did the same Shyt in the 80s...what a mind fuck ..ya cant win both ways and thats what their trying to do
We used to call LH the towers, Langston Hughes used to be the center of the Brownsville universe. But to respond to your question as to why Brownsville is steadily on the decline. There are no strong male role models in the community all the OG's are dead, in jail or just fucked up on the ave (Belmont and Mother Gaston). So a state of hopelessness exist amongst the youth. As a result many of them just live for today cause they dont think they will make it to 21.
So Brownsville is up and coming, but getting worse, but not as bad as it used to be? Im confused! I know Brooklyn as a whole is undergoing gentrification, I was in Bushwick the other day, and it was full of pencil neck, ironic moustache wearing, bird looking, skinny jean wearing 'artists' But then me and my bro wanted to see some of the real shit, so we walked along Morgan Ave. to Bushwick Ave and scoped some projects on Bushwick Ave.
Dirty ville madness alway hqve to look over your shoulder jake have problem with other project u speak the truth it sad when woman and children caught betwen these cross fire
I disagree. Brownsville has changed. I used to hate walking to Rockaway and as far as the last car on the train go it was serious I was always in the car with the train conductor. The police care a lot more then they did. I know the drug scene is crazy. Every body robbing everybody. Every body getting each other high. We killing each other. I do miss Brownsville to visit is always good. When I make it. I will do my own documentary. My side Livonia Ave.
Brownsville was and is bad lots of the shootings doesnt make the news. Back in the crack era Brownsville was really bad everyone was gettin robbed, Alot of us young dude back then thought it was cool to get locked up your peer looked up to ya and respected you.. the girls wanted you it was really twisted. We did alot of dumb shit some dudes stuck up their neighbors not caring bout the results.. yo it was and is some people out there that just dont give a fuck.
Sonny Townsend The US government killed Malcolm but that's not really an excuse if the Nation did it.Their parents and grand parents claim Christianity even though many of our people were forced to believe in white Jesus and killed and lynched in the name of that Jesus. But that false belief was not and is not strong enough to take our childrens minds and inspire them to be righteous.Example=I guarantee you there was no muggers out there whos parents were in the Nation of Islam.
Sonny Townsend The parents in the hood didn't follow them because they didn't want to be righteous. If you're not righteous, you can't stay in the Nation of Islam.
Sonny Townsend I'm saying the Nation of Islam has the solution for us.Their lifestyle produced a Malcolm X and has inspired many like him to give up crime. There was a time when Malcolm X was a stick up man.The process that reformed him will reform all Black people. Can you imagine one saying," I don't want to join them because they killed someone' and they don't even follow the one(Malcolm X) who got killed? They would rather their children be crooks than follow the Nation of Islam? No.They just don't want to be righteous themselves so they are cursed with children that make the neighborhood a living hell.
That sister talking about the family structure spoke the TRUTH.
I love y'all so much for making these videos. Brownsville made me into the strong black woman I am today. Yeah, we saw lots of stuff (good and bad) coming up, but life is rough everywhere. Brownsville stand up!!!

You robbed people on the back of the train because your parents rejected the way of Elijah Muhammad and Louis Farrakhan.
parents in our hood probably didn't want to follow them because... hold on didn't they kill Malcom ? just asking thats what they say in my hood...
