How to defog a diving mask... caustic soda or ammonia?

  • When a diving mask continue to get foggy even after all the classic tricks (lighter, toothpaste etc.)... then is time to recur to the heavy calibers!
    Disclaimer: before using this method, be sure to use all necessary PPE equipment, be informed about acid-basic chemical handling precautions and use extreme care at all times... as said in the best American videos: "Don't do this at home!" ;-)

    I found with the lighter you have to do it a couple of times on both sides. Then do the breath test. If it fogs do it again.
    I'm going to try the ammonia the next time though. I don't like using heat on tempered glass.

    Hi there, I didnt quite understand what you say just before amonia because the vid sound is garbled. Something "spirits". BTW, I'm very worried about doing this to my brand new Frameless, but that thing fogs like a SOB, I've never had so many fogging issues with a mask as I'm having now. Could you ellaborate? Thanks

    Just added 3 mask on amonia... lets hope for the best lol
