I mean, these voices look dubbed. So I’m assuming it’s a foreign film and I am a bit coy on it because I remember reading a few years ago that Russia was planning its own depiction of Chernobyl and intended blaming the whole incident on the United States (where as the HBO version blamed it on the cheap cost of the reactor/Soviet Union) Or something to that effect anyway.

If you want to see a real Chernobyl tragedy go watch a documentary films and interviews of witnesses. Thats a truly breathtaking thing. And 2019 Chernobyl is a good artistic movie, but actually lies a lot about story. And of course it is a product of anti-soviet propaganda, and yes, in 2019🤷

An entire populated *town* was affected, they had to leave their entire lives behind..Well, what am I saying? You already know all this smh sorry im an idiot. Yes HBO's Chernobyl was good but there were thousands of people affected, and thousands of stories to tell. I'm surprised people are rejecting it before even watching it! For example, it mis-characterized the role of Xenon (Xenon burn-off, even at high power levels, doesn't occur quickly enough to be a significant factor in the reactor's power transient; xenon mattered for setting up a positive void coefficient), and there was a very cringeworthy moment where they said that corium dropping into water could trigger a 30MT explosion (no, not even close). Even with two rather significant blunders, they still did more good than harm at explaining the accident to the public. There's also other details that didn't make the show, such as the roof using flammable tar because the non-flammable tar specified in the design wasn't available in the USSR.

When you've witnessed the best....you don't want to watch anything else. The HBO series was so damn perfect in every aspect that even without any dramatization of the events it pulled on your heartstrings. And then there is this ostentatious drama. Really....what was the need for this movie ? Just because the "Chernobyl" topic is still hot, doesn't mean the audience will accept any mediocre product. Infact this movie will be overshadowed due to comparisons. Look at the IMDB ratings already!! Movie makers need to act in a sensible way

From the thumbnail - it looks like they are cashing in on HBO success and trying to add unrealistic gore to their production.
There is a very good documentary here, on UA-cam, by the head of radiation safety in medicine for the US and herself, who was a receiving doctor on the day this happened. She discounts many theatrical displays of radition sickness and explains what happens and in what sequence. Well worth watching if you want something more real rather than theatre.
HBO did a superb job weaving fact into a story and created one character to represent a multitude of scientists, whose voices simply could not articulated into a mini series. HBO, I think, will be the Gold standard by which every other fictionalised story will be compared in future.
