Hot and Cool Media is a theory given by Marshall McLuhan (Canadian Philosopher). Hot media has high definition and it demands viewer's attention (thus examples are TV, OTTs, Series, News Channels, etc.) whereas, cool media is low definition and required more mental attention from the receiver's perspective (thus examples are books, newspapers, articles, etc). This theory was given in Understanding Media: The Extension of Man in 1964.
