I think Antagonize is on the Swashbuckler to help him get his ripostes off, especially since the enemy will have a penalty to hit. I think this is a nice blend of flavor and mechanics as the Swashbuckler creates his own openings by forcing the ennemies to make mistakes. I found a way to make my Bard super-resilient so I have Dirge of Doom + Antagonize AND Fascinating Performance + Focused Fascination to make her the center of attention of all the ennemies.
A few things to add to the discussion. Demoralize takes a -4 if you don't share the language. This can be ignored with Intimidating Glare. Also, Battle Cry and Scare to Death are awesome. Battle Cry lets you Demoralize for free on Intiative. Scare to Death can kill an enemy with one action, but even if you fail the check they still become Frightened 1.

That's hilarious...i was trying to picture what that would look like, and couldn't...but hey, you can intimidate someone to death, why can't you scare them with some creepy lore. The funny part of that feat is you can scare yourself on a crit fail.
@@LegendaryCMD As a quick example, my wife absolutely LOVES to randomly talk about the latest Serial Killer show she watched, in graphic detail, without warning. And yes, she occasionally scares herself by accident when doing this!
I'd like to see your analysis of spending an action on an animal companion in terms of damage. Vs not having an animal companion and instead having perhaps some combat feats instead of the animal companion feats.
As a goof (and for a prospective UA-cam video) I built Freddy Fazbear. That's how I learned how absolutely TERRIFYING Intimidation + Stealth specialization is. It's wildly powerful, especially with a party.
If you are a spell caster with a familiar give it the Speech, Independent, and Skilled (Intimidation) abilities. Each turn your familiar basically gets a free demoralize check for you.
Is it not? That's just been my creed to target will saves against monsters. I didn't want to ruffle anybody's feathers if they have a different style. Whatever works for you.
@@LegendaryCMD it's just a numbers game. Most monsters aren't intelligent so will is low o. Average. Humanoids and casters are the ones with high will and they they usually don't be ambush a party of wizards. Fort is the real challenge to get over
Yes and no. It's default perception+ (there is stuff like incredible initiative that gives you +2 to initiative but not perception). Though as dm decides you can roll something else for initiative related to whatever you were doing when initiative is rolled. Was your initidation attempt the reason you are now fighting? Roll initiative using intimidation. Were you sneaking around? Stealth. Were you playing your lute as the tavern brawl broke out? Performance. There are also few skill feats from archetypes that specifically let you roll set skill for initiative. Fandancer let's you always roll initiative (cause you are always ready to "dance") etc.
13:33 “Tumble through them or something” boy did I laugh hearing this hahaha!
Great video as always!
Missed the ape animal companion support benefit. Easy way to keep the frightened condition going. Awesome video as always.
oooh...good one!
I love the Crunch McDabbles show

Great Video! I was looking for some fear effects to build a Hellknight! Now I know I'll play a Swashbuckler Hellknight
Yes!! I love hellknights!!

Good ones. I was just looking at silvertongue mutagen. That would be a good consumable for intimidates before they get a permanent item.

Also gotta love Agonizing Rebuke from Hobgoblins. Adding mental damage to demoralized foes.
I genuinely believe that all of my friends have the Disturbing Knowledge feat in real life!

Did you guys know that ancient Romans used dried and crushed mouse brains, urine, and hare and donkey teeth ashes as toothpaste?

@@devcrom3 horrifying! ...kind of intriguing though...nope, definitely horrifying.
Just found the feed. Love it. Legendary deception skill reveal machinations also gives frightened.
Great one!! Thanks. Glad you are here.
dont forget the agonize anscestry feat from hobgoblin. adding some damage to your demoralize is nice

You forgot the Feral Mutagen feat. It gives the Bestial Mutagen's item bonus to Intimidation checks :D
Great stuff!

Demon mask is worth mentioning too
Why is the Will Save so controversial?

Why is initiative not effected by frightened?
