Dude it has been so fuggin cool watching this channel grow into what it is now! In a world full of A.I. videos an bot bull shit, its super refreshing to have such an amazing "human experience" flaws and all. It's a beautiful thing and should be celebrated.
Yes. I’ll take human commentary over AI any day. AI is great for visuals, especially if you’re covering a more obscure topic that doesn’t have a whole lot of art or photos for it.
I'm stroking my wumpus
Yeah I've been watching John's videos since he had around 20k subscribers. I listen to them before I go to sleep. It's crazy how much his channel has grown lately
Yeah In this current trump era of anti-intellectualism these videos are always refreshing
Ain’t no flaws in JMG videos, dawg.
You're still the best on UA-cam, John. Thanks for the video! 🍻 cheers
Thanks!
You have the best voice for delivering this kinda information..
Thanks man. You are among the best channels on a messy unfun platform full of clickbait and annoying loud persons. Everything here is smart and well done. I appreciate you very much.
Happy your doing these 10 things style more commonly again. Appreciate you JMG! ❤
Love falling asleep to these 💤
Too late for going to sleep
HE SAID IT! LOL😂😂😂
HE SAID THE MEME! WOW! EVERY VIDEO! THIS TIME IT WAS HIM! YAH! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
WAY TO GO! VERY FUNNY REDDIT MOMENT! ❤❤❤
Really appreciate your advocacy for science and research (at the end of the video) in a time where it is under attack more than ever.
We're in for years of attacks on science and technology I'm afraid. Thanks, "patriots".
Mahalo for this great news!
I had NO idea that Chandra was saved for another year! As you say...writing Congress can help! Excellent!
Awesome! Nice to see new scientific discoveries, while being on vacation.
Great stories and well told.
Thank you, Sir Godier.
Joy of joys! JMG drops another gem just before bed.
Too late for going to sleep
I'm overseas at the moment and clicked on one of your vids while not logged in and it began in a foreign dub! Glad that your content is available to as many people as possible but these dubbers need to know we show up for your wonderful voice as WELL as the fantastic content! 😂❤
Dolphins and Octopuses are my favorite marine animals! It's cool to see we still have lots to learn about them.
dolphins get a pass...but I will never accept whales. enemy of mankind. eat all of our fish.
Shouldn't be eating them... Bit of Parsley sauce, squeeze of lemon?
Thanks a bunch for the video, John!!! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Lots to ponder Thanks! 👍👍
Thanks for the video!
100,000,000 channel views - congratulations!
Good show thank you.
You’re the man. Thank you.
Love the monthly discovery updates! Thanks for doing all the research!
It's like the more we learn about animals the smarter and smarter they seem, how incredible.
Galactic ORCs? Let's hope they don't bring the dakka to us!😅
Nice timing as always
Congrats on 100m total views 🎉🎉🎉 can you even imagine it, that's a solid sized country watching your videos
Rogue Waves shoulda been #1. That could be a game changer. Very cool.
I always looked at Rouge waves similar to getting Power jumped on a trampoline. Where multiple people time their bounces at just the right time in order to super jump one of the people on the trampoline
Saving Chandra is the best thing I've heard in years! Yaaay!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
hey john, could you start a series of videos called "as explained by john"?
the reason i ask is because after i watched this vid i watched one of your older ones on exoplanets...
in that vid you said something about a planet being too big and thus may not have a biosphere... you went on to say that the best alternative planets would be no bigger than 2 earths or something like that...
well can you make a video explaining why if we found a giant or super earth why it still wouldn't be inhabitantal to us??
perhaps that video could kick off a side series "as explained by john" or
"john explains" because details like this size of a planet effecting our ability to live there I'd like more information on!
you could pick out details like that and make highlight videos on them.
just an idea...
John, I want to say that I love your videos. You always put out exceptionally good content.
As such, I want to apologize for being somewhat pedantic, but I hope you will understand.
At 8:25 you described snakes as "poisonous," but there is a difference between poisonous and venomous. If you bite it and you die, it is poisonous. If it bites you and you die, it is venomous. The snake switch you are referring to in the video are venomous.
A playlist for these 10 discovery of the month wuld be great
road to 500k!
You can imagine the horror of seamen seeing a rogue wave bearing down on them. Everyone has always told them they cannot exist, yet in their last seconds seeing one with their own eyes... It must have been like a dragon suddenly appearing in Trafalgar Square or a flying saucer setting down and saluting Nelson's statue!
fall asleep to your vids almost every night
Appreciate the work you do JMG, in a world of crazy at least science is still rational.
Oh dear. The Arecibo failure mode discovery is perhaps the most important one. When a replacement is ever built, the construction mistake mustn't be repeated. In a galvanic contact of Zn with steel, Zn dissolves (this is how Zn-plated steel is protected from corrosion: Zn becomes the sacrificial anode if water makes it through the coating). It makes sense that the process is accelerated by induced currents, but the huge metal construction seems to provide enough grounding even for GHz-range currents, as it hardly has any inductance. Apparently, it ultimately doesn't, and these currents need to be considered.
I like how it's only February 7 and there's already been 10 interesting new discoveries this month....
I often notice how just because we can't explain or understand how something is, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Like when others tell us about this or that thing and we find it unlikely because no ones broken down how to explain it. I think of all of the truths out there that aren't known, and maybe we get glimpses of but dismiss them.
Ahhh, my next sleeping pill is delivered. Thank you JMG! :)
Cool and weird, especially the story about Arecibo!
Weird that I don't have snake-o-phobia, but that spider thing was a "please, nope" even though I'm not actually scared of them.
I do live in Australia, so being really close to a spider is kinda annoying (and certainly sets off your defensive measures).
Hell yeah.
Perfect timing! I was just trying to find something to sleep to 😁
Hey John, do you like the Mass Effect trilogy?
It's one of my favorite games of all time. I've probably done 5 play throughs of the trilogy at this point.
@@JohnMichaelGodierdo you ever live stream?
@JohnMichaelGodier Awesome, you struck me as a Mass Effect fan. I'm looking to do another play through myself. I played through it and was blown away. Currently in a Half-Life 2 phase as well at the moment
John is the coolest, I wish they had revived the multiplayer for ME3 for legendary edition.
No live streaming yet, but in the future we might do some on the JMG clips channel. It's not really right for this channel or Event Horizon, but might be fun on clips or twitch or something. I can tell you folks what I'm currently playing on PS5 tho. World of Warships Legends, which I've been playing for years, and Helldivers 2.
It would be interesting to learn what kind of asteroids Jupiter has captured in its lagrange points.
Damn. I am really out of the loop this month, I only read (beforehand) about Number 1 this month LOL
I know these videos probably take a lot of work but I wish there was more! They're always very cool
Nice.
Love it!
Just so everyone knows, the beautiful emerald tree boa is non-venomous and some people even keep them as pets! (captive-bred ofc)
Sounds like Arecibo had some stray current in the harbor ;-)
If dolphiins can "hear" with their teeth it must be deafening when they eat.
People before watching this: 😇
After it:🗿🏆
So JMG, it's only a week deep into February. Can we expect a double hitter this month?
JMG does it again. 💪
I feel for the dolphins that get toothaches if they're loaded with that much extra nerves.
♥
Well it seems thalasophobia will get some reprieve with that rogue wave detector
👍👍
I had no idea that anti-venon was specific to each species, I'd assumed all snake bite medication were broad spectrum already.
Most of the snakes he showed don’t have any venom at all.
100,000 snake deaths each year, snakes make me jump out of my shoes or worse if I'm diving
I enjoy watching this channel. However the several with double the volume of this super chill and awesome channel often ruin the content. Just one mans opinion though
What if we received the reply to the Arecibo message but they jacked the signal too strongly and killed our receiver 🥶
At 12:15, there was Orion in the upper left side of the screen.bout the Arecibo radio-telescope, you can also speculate that the strong radio emissions+ very high humidity could have provoked a kind of electrolysis of the zinc.like copper tubing near an iron nail + humidity produces a slow oiercing of the copper tube.China Fast 500 radio-telescope is stronger than the one at Arecibo wich was 305 m in diameter.
Now we need AI that can predict ball lightening
3:56 "in the not too distant future... Next Sunday A.D.
There was a guy named Joel
Not too different than you or me"
Charon is pronounced like “Karon”. It’s from Greek X (chi, pronounced “kai”), not Sharon.
why zinc though? because it's cheap? that's why washing machines are failing so quick.
We got forcefem fireflies before GTA6 🙄
What would JMG do?
You know that emerald tree boas aren’t venomous, right?
But, but... wait, what about the Possum 2.0?
He's currently studying maps of Antarctica for some reason and A.N.N.A. is looking up air fare for "Specimen". Prolly nothing.
Enjoy new space discoveries while you can, this administration will likely gut astronomy budgets as well.
australia has had single antivenin for years now might only be for australian snakes not sure
Oh dang I’m here early
Yay
You start by saying "Science moves forward, as always", JMG.
Does it? Does it really? Many people are saying that science has been going backwards recently.
😮
Honestly, zinc sucks. There's a reason an original Floyd Rose is better than a shitty Special. They wear out super fast and you have problems whereas an Original German Forged on the depths of Mordor Hardened Steel is the best option
14:08 River channels?? #CitationNeeded
Early!! Yeah...!
Should an CO2 ice deposit on the equator of Mars be called an ice stripe instead of an ice cap? 😉
If I dream about loose teeth tonight...
11. disclosure
Spiders.. more Spiders, Snakes.
Did this guy just pronounce February properly, using all the letters?! How?!
Unlike “Charon”
At this point these videos are for waking up, not for going to sleep, come on, who goes to sleep so late? People who wants to age faster and live a shorter a life
Instant watch. ❤
Perhaps some monies from USAID can be used for science instead of lining corruptible pockets...
USAID did an immeasurable good for people across the globe.
That money will now be going to line Elon musk's (and others) pockets.
Please think for yourself instead of swallowing the propaganda
@@asafoster7954Yeah! How could Ireland ever have survived without US money for gay musicals!
So we finally have orcs in space, nice
Thank uuu
yeah buddy just in time to wind down for bed! love you bud :)
YES YES YES
I have all buoys albums
Comment for algorithm
#1
im a little late but thanks
Man every few months or so we get breakthroughs on just how intellegent Spiders and other arthropods actually are!
Perfect timing just started charging my ev 😊
