  • If you look after orphaned kittens, I strongly suggest you feed them VentriPro and Lactol milk powder. Venky's VentriPro milk powder costs only Rs 290 and Beaphar's lactol milk powder costs Rs 1180. You can also feed them just 'VentriPro' (without the lactol powder) and your kitten will still love it! The kitten has to be atleast 15-20 days old in order to feed them VentriPro milk.
Mix VentriPro and lactol powder in the ratio of 4:1, add water a little by little to form a smooth paste (so that it does not clump). Gradually increase the quantity of water till it attains consistency.
You can also add about 0.5 ml of colostrum supplement and about 0.5 ml of omega oil supplement if the kittens are more than 15 days old.
Kittens love the taste of this milk composition of VentriPro-lactol. But you can also feed them just 'Ventripro' without the lactol powder. I have successfully saved orphaned kittens by feeding them VentriPro.
NOTE: If you ever have an unfortunate event of a newborn ORPHANED kitten of less than 15-20 days old, then please feed it 'PetAg's KMR Kitten Milk Replacer'. This product is expensive and costs around Rs 3000. Please google search for a pet store and phone them up to check if they have this product. Alternatively, you can also search in your neighbourhood for a lactating mother cat and publish on a social media platform like Whatsapp if anyone has a lactating mother cat or call up an NGO for animals in distress. Please try your best to save the kitten's life in such a case.
The other foods to feed your kitten are - Royal Canin dry kitten food, Matisse dry kitten food, Lara dry kitten food, MeO dry kitten food, and Whiskas dry kitten food.
Please DO NOT feed 'wet' kitten food in brands of MeO and Whiskas. The wet food products of MeO and Whiskas tend to have bacteria in them which can cause severe diarrhoea, jaundice, kidney problems and fever, which will eventually lead to their death if not treated on time. I had lost one of my kittens after she consumed MeO wet food. She had a fever, diarrhoea, a dull fur coat and gradually her condition worsened after 4 months eventually leading to her death. Another cat lost her appetite and had a kidney problem after consuming Whiskas wet food. Her coat became dull and was treated for the kidney problem.
Alternatively, you can also degut fresh Mackerel fish and boil it with a little rice in a pressure cooker for 1-2 whistles. Remove the bones and mix the fish and rice. Fresh homemade food is anytime better which is preservative-free. They also love simple chicken soup. For those who don't have time, then I would recommend purchasing Farmina Vetlife Gastrointestinal tin can food for Rs 170 for 85 grams to occasionally feed your kittens with this treat. Watch the video here - • Farmina VetLife Gastro...
Please DO NOT feed your kittens with 'Gata' kitten food as my kitten died recently on 29 July 2019 after consuming it. She was vomiting, suffered seizures, tremors and then she passed away.
    Video can be seen here:
    ( • Moments with Diana kit... )
Always do your research by checking for product reviews on Amazon, Flipkart, etc before purchasing any new brands of cat food. It is much safer to buy from reputed brands like Royal Canin, Farmina, Lara, Beaphar, Acana, PetAg, Whiskas, and MeO.

Hello do you know how do I register a complaint for animal cruelty? There are a few cats living in our society and one of them gave birth recently. We were feeding the kittens too once they became 2 months old. But suddenly they started disappearing and next day they were found roaming in the local fish market so somebody is picking them up and leaving them in the market without our knowledge is what I suspect. Do you know how do I take action against this? I heard that we should be reporting such cases to PETA but then I also heard rumours that PETA is not good. I don't know whom to contact for this. I live in Andheri Mumbai. Is there any other source or social media where I can contact you? Thank you m

I bought Ventripro recently for my kittens and the powder smells bad, it smells like as if it's expired although the container says, the expiry date is 2021. I have also fed them other kitten formula and they smelled very good like milk or milk substitute but Ventripro has a damp/old-ish smell. I just wanted to know if that's how it's supposed to smell?

VentriPro smells like those typical Parle-G Glucose biscuits. It's strange that you got a bad smelling powder (don't know if you can go ahead with it). Due to its low cost, the quality may not be as good as Lactol or PetLac. But it contains colostrum in which Lactol and PetLac doesn't have. I feed my kittens VentriPro and they love it. But they love it even more if you mix Ventripro + lactol powder. The powder should look yellow as in 0:58. If you have ordered the product online and if it comes in damaged condition (like kinks on the bottle) or unsealed or if the powder is discolored, please don't use it. In my experience, it's best to physically purchase perishable products.
If it smells bad or if it smells strong, please don't use it. Moisture ruins everything.
If the powder is dry and yellow as in 0:58 and if you want to give it a try, then just give 1 part ventripro powder and 3 parts lactol powder and check if it agrees with your kitten.
The company Venky's Pet also manufactures animal medicines and herbal supplements. One such example is 'Fe-folate' which is an iron supplement.

Hii, my kitten is also having his first two legs a little bit bent, it seems like no bones there although I can feel bones but I don't know may be they have not developed properly. But he is very energetic, walks, runs, plays and climbs everything he finds it doesn't seem like any kind of hindrance to him but I don't know if I need to do something about it or feed him something? He just turned 12 weeks old.

    • @NatashaPereira1991
      @NatashaPereira1991  2 роки тому +1

It must be a genetic problem and your kitten is born with it. As long as the kitten is active, then you don't have to worry about. Once the kitten is not dependent on its mother, you can feed it boiled mackerel/tuna fish with rice (remember to clean, degut and cut the head of the fish before boiling as fish can be contaminated). Kittens and cats grow well once you feed them mackerel/tuna fish. In nature, cats are born to eat rats to control the rat population. But if someone puts poison for the rats and your cat happens to eat the same rat, it can die too. This is exactly what happened to my cat. You can also feed your kitten Matisse dry kitten food or MeO dry kitten food. But I would recommend to feed clean natural fish as they are free from preservatives.

Hi Leena, sorry just came online to see your comment. VentriPro is a blessing in disguise. Do feed these three kittens at least twice a day with VentriPro milk or whenever they feel hungry. First, take around 2-3 spoonfuls of ventripro powder then gradually add warm water little by little till it is neither watery nor thick. (do not add warm water all at once as there will be clumps formed and it will not blend well). VentriPro is sufficient for them till they turn 3-4 months old. After that, you can feed them boiled mackerel fish with rice.

:( So sorry to hear that, it will not survive without its mother. But here are my suggestions you can do to try to save the kitten's life:
      1) If you can find a lactating mother cat or even a friendly, soft-tempered lactating dog, then please place the kitten when the mother is feeding her own babies. I have seen a video on youtube where mother dogs feed orphaned kittens. Supervise when this is done so that the mother doesn't get aggressive. If you suspect the mother dog is aggressive, please don't do it as it's risky.
      2) You can purchase 'PetAg KMR' (Kitten milk replacer) from the pet store for feeding kittens who are less than 20 days old. The cost is around Rs 3000 for 340 grams. Feeding about 1-2 ml needs to done in dedication for every 2-3 hours or else they might not survive and young kittens catch infection without their mother. Please do a google search about 'PetAg KMR', it ships from USA which can take days to arrive in India, so we cannot afford to waste time.
      3) Venky's VentriPro can be given once the kitten is 20-30 days old.
      4) You can also take it to a qualified vet to see if they can suggest some special foods for a young kitten.

Hi, if you use 1 tablespoon powder, then gradually add 2 or 3 tablespoons water little by little. It should neither be too thick nor too watery. Kittens at 3 weeks of age consume about ~5-10 ml milk during each feed. Use a feeding bottle or even a syringe while feeding these kittens. Good luck!

      1) If the kittens have a mother, then don't give Ventripro/lactol.
      2) If the kittens are orphaned, then you must give VentriPro & lactol till they are 3 to 4 months old.
*Do not feed them Whiskas wet food or MeO wet food as it can be contaminated with bacteria in the manufacturing process and tends to give severe diarrhea or dysentery.
*I have been feeding orphaned kittens with VentriPro and lactol as it contains colostrum. Both these products are safe in which my kittens have grown well but it might give mild diarrhea.
*Deworming too needs to be done once the kittens turn 1 month or 2 months old. Please take it to a qualified vet to suggest which deworming medicine will be appropriate for your kitty. There are some deworming medicines which cannot be given to kittens who are having diarrhea or else they will suffer severe dehydration. The deworming medicines are given in appropriate dosages as per the kitten's body weight, age and their past history. Giving the wrong dosage or medication can be FATAL. So please ensure this is done with caution and only as per vet's advice.
As for me, the vet prescribed Kilverm (Pyrantel Pamoate/Fenbendazole) 0.2 ml once a day for 3 days in a row for a 'healthy' kitten whose body weight is 350 grams with no history of diarrhea.

Yes, sure. VentriPro and Whiskas dry food are fine. But one thing from my experience is NEVER to give Whiskas/MeO 'wet' food pouch as it causes severe problems like fever/diarrhea/jaundice. Alternatively, one of the safest options is to degut fresh mackerel fish and boil it along with some kolam rice in a pressure cooker for 1-2 whistles. Remove the bones once boiled, and mix the fish and rice. Your kitten will love it. Freshly cooked, preservative-free, and safe -cats love this combo.

I cant get lactol now.... luckily a lactating cat has fostered him..... evn though she does not allow him to feed like she does her own kitten.... so I alternate lactogen and mothers milk..... he drinks both.... since day before yesterday I replaced lactogen with ventripro... so what should I do about the diarrhea condition.... will he still get proper nutrition from ventripro if I dilute it... ??

Diarrhea is something serious to consider. My kitten was 2 months old when she got her first diarrhea after consuming MeO wet jelly food. The food was likely to be contaminated with bacteria, hence her diarrhea. She lost her shine in her eyes, but then she became better at times. But gradually diarrhea was reappearing, so I had to take her to the vet when she turned 5 months old at 1.3 kg weight. The vet said her liver is enlarged and had advised to give her 'Pro-Enteric Triplex' in certain dosages as per her body weight. So, I mixed the required dosage in her food and put 2 small pellets of hepatone (Homeopathic medicine to strengthen the liver).
Deworming medicine called 'Feli-D' was given to my kitten, but a certain dosage should be STRICTLY given as per their body weight and age or else it can be FATAL if given in wrong dosages.
I had given my kitten just VentriPro, she loved it. VentriPro does have colostrum as an ingredient which is useful for kitten's overall health.
Regarding the diarrhea problem, it could be serious to consider. I suggest to take it to a qualified vet. There is a possibility that the kitten is lactose intolerant (inability to digest lactose in lactogen), malabsorption or liver problem or there could be worms.
If not possible to take it to the vet, then give it only VentriPro. Although VentriPro+Lactol will be a better option. There could be less loose motions. Keep a bowl of clean water for the kitten to drink. When the kitten turns 2 months old, you can start giving it dry food. Hope this suggestion helps.

We did not face any problems with VentriPro and I'm still feeding young stray kittens with VentriPro milk. By chance did your kitten consume any wet jelly food? As per my experience, wet jelly food gives bloody stools. Please take it to a qualified vet if the kitten still has blood in the stools, this could be due to worms or intestinal bleeding which further gives liver failure and serious if not treated on time.
My kitten too had diarrhea and blood in the stools since January after eating MeO wet food. She was also having Lactol-VentriPro milk. Her diarrhea was an intermittent problem. Recently in May, that kitten died due to liver failure and diarrhea.

My vet said ventri did not suit her as it doesn't suit some kittens ...but so many of my frnds suggested ventri to me....I'm so confused as to what to give her ...as her digestive system is really delicate since she did not get much of her mother's milk as she was orphaned at about 10 days old ...since then I'm taking care of her

@@nikhat_shaikh Great that you took it to the vet on time with good medications. VentriPro might not be suiting her, so don't give her VentriPro. Give it curd and rice as per what your vet has adviced. Curd is a good probiotic for the intestines. Once her motions become normal, give it Lactol milk with 0.5ml of Colostrum supplement. The colostrum supplement is called 'Immuno+' which is manufactured by Venttura Bioceuticals. Make sure that you use a completely dry spoon to scoop out the lactol powder to prevent moisture and contamination. The lactol box should be tightly capped, wrapped in newspaper and stored in a dry place.

      Hi, these are my suggestions:
      1) If you can find a lactating mother cat or even a friendly, soft-tempered lactating dog, then please place the kitten when the mother is feeding her own babies. I have seen a video on youtube where mother dogs feed orphaned kittens. Supervise when this is done so that the mother doesn't get aggressive. If you suspect the mother dog is aggressive, please don't do it as it's risky.
      2) Venky's VentriPro can be given once the kitten is 20-30 days old and only if the kitten doesn't have a mother.
      3) You can purchase 'PetAg KMR' (Kitten milk replacer) from the pet store for feeding kittens who are less than 20 days old.
      4) You can also take it to a qualified vet to see if they can suggest some special foods for a young kitten.
I faced the same problem too. Young kittens don't survive once their mother is dead. They are prone to infections. Ordinary milk or Ventripro milk will only worsen their condition. But you can try 'PetAg KMR', remember it needs to be fed with dedication. You cannot guarantee that it will survive even after having PetAg KMR.

Hello there, it's very heartbreaking to hear about kittens who lose their mother. You have done your best to save it. I also request you to do a google search on animal rescue organisations in your area to see if they can help. I live in Mumbai and I actually have 2 lactating mother cats, today (20 July 2020) one of them has littered 2 kittens. I would have love to help but facing a problem as people make a fuss

If it's an orphaned kitten, then yes. You can mix Beaphar's lactol and Ventripro in 1:1 ratio as kittens love the taste of lactol. Always use a feeding bottle for small kittens. If the kitten has a mother, then I would advise No.

    • @NatashaPereira1991
      @NatashaPereira1991  2 роки тому +1

Sorry, I just saw your message and I hope the kitten is alive. No, VentriPro shouldn't be given to the kitten if they are less than 15-20 days old. I had the same experience about a decade ago. This happens when the mother cat is of older age and gradually lactates lesser and lesser. This is a pitiful state for the kitten. Please do a google search for famous pet stores near you and call them up to inquire if they have 'PetAg KMR -Kitten Milk Replacer'. This is an expensive product costing around Rs 3000, and it's possibly the only product to feed newborn kittens. You get it online too, but it will take days to deliver, by the time your kitten will be dead. Another alternative is to look out for a lactating mother cat in your neighborhood or publish on a social media platform like Whatsapp if anyone has a lactating mother cat. If you find one, then great! In the initial days, the foster mother cat might screech but it will get used to the kitten later. Please try your best to save the the kitten's life

It maybe too diluted, try giving in concentrated form. Take 1 tablespoon Ventripro powder and little by little add 2-3 tablespoons of warm water while stirring. Or there is a possibility that kittens more than 3 months of age don't want to drink milk anymore, so try feeding it boiled mackerel fish with rice, or those readymade dry foodstuffs such as Matisse kitten food or MeO dry kitten food

It's available at specialized chemists, or inquire at your vet clinic. I caution you the dosage as it depends on the bodyweight of the kitten, you should NEVER exceed above the recommended dosage. I suggest you should give it 0.1 ml (about 1-2 drops) of Kilverm syrup- once a day -for 1 day or 3 days in a row. Check with your doctor if this dosage is ok for '3 days' or for '1 day'.

@@Avelline6 Are you feeding them 5-7 ml Sensium or 5-7ml VentriPro? In my previous comment, I've stated to feed only VentriPro. If your kittens are not drinking VentriPro, then feed them Beaphar's Lactol powder mixed with warm water. Take them to the vet if they have lost their appetite. You can start feeding them wet food such as 'Farmina Vetlife Gastrointestinal' Tin can food, they will love its taste or boiled mackerel fish. 'Farmina Vetlife Gastrointestinal' is very good for kittens, it is expensive but absolutely worth the price and nothing can beat its quality.
You can also feed them a pouch of Whiskas brand Mackerel/Tuna gravy but be careful, some of the wet foodstuffs are contaminated with bacteria that can make your kittens permanently sick. So heat up the Whiskas Mackerel/Tuna gravy to destroy the leftover bacteria before feeding it to your kitten. Royal Canin wet kitten gravy is also good in terms of its quality.
