    Loving the drone shots, vocal sound tracks and history lessons. Most moto vloggers get an "adventure bike" and travel while you took the bike you had and are taking it on an adventure which, in my books, makes your quest more authentic. Kind regards. 🇨🇦

      I've certainly given that drone a workout recently! Out here there aren't all of the drone usage restrictions that haunted me in Tasmania. I found that frustrating. Most places you'd want to use a drone, they were prohibited! Here, well, let's just say that there's plenty of scope to create! LOL Well, I'll be back in Tassie in a month or so. Just for a bit. Then back to the mainland. I'll get the bike serviced, grab some of the stuff from storage, get a bit of work done and tour some of the areas I missed out on last time.👍

    I imagined the song Dust in Wind (Kansas) playing in the background during your conclusion. I like you even more because of your respectful approach to history and your stance on such things as tagging. Did I hear you correctly....the old police station was flooded out?....in the land of no water? I wonder what was the straw that finally shut the whole place down and who was the last to leave? Often, at least one hermit chooses to stay behind, I think.
    Oh ya..could do without the snakes. Safe travels.

    • @HerMotorcycleAdventures
      @HerMotorcycleAdventures  3 роки тому

      Ironically yes, the police station did flood. Though rain is VERY scarce out here in the desert, when it does rain, nature does seem to do a good job at it!😁 The Ghan (railway) passed through. Well, the old route did. I walked along some of the old track. That kept the town going for a while longer. But ultimately, that wasn't enough.

    • @gerdacoonan7250
      @gerdacoonan7250 3 роки тому +1

      In 1864-65, the then surveyor-general, marked a line on the map of South Australia, joining together all the places that had a 10 inch average rainfall. It is called the "Goyder Line", named after him. Below the line was deemed to be suitable for cropping, above the line was only deemed to be suitable for grazing, at best. Unfortunately ?????, around 1876 or so, there was unseasonably good years of rainfall in that area, and pastoralists decided it was eminently suitable for cropping, namely wheat, hence the town of Farina, (which is the Italian name for flour), was established to service the area. All went well for a while, but eventually Mr. Goyder was proved absolutely correct, when Mother Nature had her way, and the country was unable to produce, hence its state today. Cheers.

Sorta felt warmer watching you explore the buildings (could not have been fun to find firewood). But then I felt my age, no graffiti or writings on my carcass yet!
    The more you ride sand the body acquires a memory of riding position and it will become easier. IB said its fun riding fast in sand now.

      @HerMotorcycleAdventures  3 роки тому

      Wow that is cold out there! You can have that!❄️ It's been a little warmer over here. I'm currently heading south so that I'm not stuck in the extreme heat over summer. Yer, sand is a challenge on this bike. The front end is pretty heavy and it has a tendency to simply bog in the sand. If I gun it too fast, the wheel simply turns into the sand and the back end slides out. I think, longer term, if I'm going to keep doing sand, I should consider a bike with more play up front and a more upright sitting position. I'm not necessarily in a hurry as the next few months should be in territory better suited to this ride.😁

    What an exciting find! I love seeing stories like this. The stories behind building & then abandoning a town is fascinating to me. On the issue common sense, I'd like to throw an idea at you. From the video (the rusted out car) it seems like people were gone by the 1950s or 60s. Yet, you drove into town on a semi-maintained road. I'd love to know why the country is maintaining a road that effectively leads nowhere. What is the point.

      I have to admit to contemplating that. I need a new helmet. I've nearly killed this one. I was curious as to how they'd go at speed, they don't look as aerodynamic. How are you finding yours?

    I see that you use a DJI Osmo Action Camera and I must ask if the quality of the raw (original) video is ok? I'm asking because what I see on UA-cam is disappointing and could be because of the internet speed (on my side) or video conversion done during the uploading process.

      When I got the DJI Osmo action cams, I tested the latest GoPro at the time and tested these. Ultimately there was little difference between both of them, and these were economical enough to purchase two of them for the price of the one GoPro. These two cams have been through hell and back. The quality is good. The Rocksteady mode is amazing! The new DJI Osmo is being released this month, and I'm watching closely to see it's capabilities.😉

      @@HerMotorcycleAdventures well, I bought first the GoPro (Hero 7 black) but didn't used much. Then I bought the DJI Osmo and really liked the usability of it. As far as I could tell, the(built an video) quality are similar. I'm not a professional "camera man" so it's ok for me. Still, the UA-cam video quality doesn't do justice to the sceneries captured. The conversion made on the UA-cam upload is heavily affecting the quality.

      I certainly would like to take the series international. I guess we will have to see what happens in this crazy world over coming months. But yes, that'd be fun. And quite an adventure!

    Enjoyed the droning, music, and your commentary (rant) on people etching into monuments, graffiti, and don't forget the stickers! It is a real problem in our country (USA) with its natural monuments being defaced by visitors. :-(

      Yet the graffiti of cave people facinates us . . . . .
      Of course they weren't just leaving their initials with heart symbols . . . .

      It is so sad that monuments are being defaced over your part of the world. I swear we are going backwards as a civilisation.

      I believe Farina is Latin for flour. Which is ironically what they were at least trying to harvest out there!😉

      Ironically I don't tend to swear all that much. I guess it's a topic I'm passionate about. These days it often feels that there's not a lot of respect around.
