Amazing amazing. Just 5 people gathered to play almost orchestra scale sounds. Did Mozart ever imagine this piece performed like this? And most of all, the pianist never failed to present all of the essentials of this great concerto - crispy brilliant and very lively Mozart piano! Thanks so much!
I love the recording cut by Alfred Brendel and Frederick Gulda...Perahia is also an excellent expert in saintly simplicity and heavenly pure joy or beauty of Mozart..
Somehow, reducing this to a quartet supporting the piano makes it seem even busier and more dynamic, esp in the fast past in mvt 3. Is there any concerto to match this? Yes, #23. To me, and despite how good all his later concertos are, 20 and 23 are the absolute pinnacles of perfection. Who's with me? : )
When someone writes an amazing masterpiece, he can't write something like that again. Even Mozart. This concerto is just like Don Giovanni or Requiem: even Mozart couldn't write something similar again. That's the reason we call such compositions "masterpieces"...
This is some nostalgia for me. 58 years ago, I joined a classical music records club, Concert Hall, and the first vinyl I recieved, was this concert (and no. 23). I remember neither the soloist, nor the orchestra. Mozart is always Mozart, even with a string quartet instead of a full orchestra. And with a piano instead of a harpsichord. The Times They Are A-Changin'. Many thanks for a nice performance with a fine balance between the restrained classicism and the romantic drama!
This performance brought joy to my day. I would love to see more Mozart piano concertos performed as quintets. It works so beautifully. Terrific performance from these wonderful musicians. I hope to see and hear more music from them.
Superb performance !! Its a great shame that Mozart could never know that his music is being performed somewhere in the world every minute of every day
Everyone has its own taste. To me, this is the most beautiful piano concerto ever written. But...Beethoven's cadenzas are superb and a must if wanted to be perfect. The first cadenza is especially amazing. I even can't find a cadenza by Mozart of such a beauty...(fortunatelly, here included, but only the first one).
This is an amazing performance! It let me hear this great Mozart concerto all over again, never missing an element. Did Mozart himself score this quintet arrangement? It sounds quintessentially Mozart!!! Either way, it sends chills through me as much or more than the best orchestral version!. Bravo Jaeyeon Park and company!!!
¡Brava!
This, to my knowledge, wasn’t one of the concertos that Mozart specified for piano and string quartet. Those concertos would be KV 413-415 and KV 449. Who made the string quartet reduction for this performance?
There are specifications of nearly all of the Mozart piano concertos by th 19th-century-composer "Ignaz Lachner". This KV 466 is with a additional double bass. That sound more beautiful. The score is available.

Not only is the first movement Mozart at his most sublime but you get Beethoven's cadenza. Double genius in one go. Beautiful.
A string quartet instead of an orchestra, yet the beauty is in no way diminished.

Park, you are good! keeping up... See you in future full concerto!

All three pieces in D minor…
@@markvarley2962 AND 24, in c minor.
A wonderful surprise today, this performance of the 20th as a quintet! Technically superb and spiritually intense, without loss of force.

For such a small orchestra it's a great sound BRAVO

agree! Mozart music is the voice of God! just amazing
Quite Amazing Jaeyeon and Company!

D minor has always been my favorite, it is unlike any other Mozart piano concerti. Great performance.
Superb performance !! Its a great shame that Mozart could never know that his music is being performed somewhere in the world every minute of every day
Yes over 200 years after his death

Oh, gosh. How beautiful. And how so skilfully played with a string quartet !!
Magnificent! But the sonority of Mozart's original concept is missing.
Wonderful!! I have loved this piece my whole life!! Thank you!!

Nice 👍👍👍
Bravissimo...!
Youngsan Art Hall- > Yongsan Art Hall
Masterful presentation. The sound engineer could perhaps balanced it so that the piano did not drown the quartet. Otherwise...WOW! I loved it.
Wonderful ❤️

Beautiful playing of this great masterpiece but for me this cries out for the orchestral colour that Mozart wrote for it.
Well it's better than having a piano accompaniment for a piano concerto. I think we all take the full orchestra when we can get it!
What happened to the rest of the orchestra?
Show!!!!!!!!
BRAVO!

How strange to mix such beautiful piano playing with such twangy strings
