So very proud of valiant Americans, who despite all odds, remained loyal to their Founding Fathers' Constitution. In 1861, forced at gunpoint, they rose up and fought bravely against the violators from the "union" who waged war upon them. Sic semper tyrannis!!!

Very funny considering the confederacy was verging on autocracy when it all came crashing down. Anything tyrannical Lincoln did, ole Jeff Davis did that too and then some. It was a different time back then and those were pretty typical war time actions everywhere. Doesn’t make it right but it was typical. Unlike slavery which was on the way out, yet some folks couldn’t handle that. I’d like to remind yall that it was never about states rights. States rights was just a cover. The confederate constitution did not leave slavery to the states, but proclaimed it mandatory and forever like they wanted to do in the convention in 1787 but had to compromise

@Jett Rink...to begin with the Confederate States of America did not rise up against their nation. They several Confederate states left the Union and simply asked to be left alone. The United States of America invaded the Confederated States of America because the economy of the USA would not survive without the tax base the CSA provided. Please learn history before you comment on it.

WRONG Captain Revisionist History. You left the Union because you were not allowed to move the institution of slavery West into the new territories. With the election of Lincoln it was a done deal and your institution was dead in the water. Obviously the US did fine without your tax base for the next five years and now the rest of the nation is still supporting the slave wages that are paid in the South. So you are WRONG.

The taxes from New Orleans were drops in the bucket compared to NYC and the north also had Boston, Baltimore, and a good many other smaller ports. They didn’t need the South for taxes

So they are veterans of defending slavery and commencing a civil war against the union?

My great great great grandfathers a real civil war veteran and fought to serve this country, not tear it apart to preserve the social order of slavery. Y’all don’t see Germans doing this with their WW2 veterans and if they do, they are severely looked down upon. You pay respects to the complicated person, not prop up the flag of the problematic army he fought for when it’s one of those obvious wars.

I was born in the south. This only public funding it deserves is to be placed in a museum. Private citizens are free to fly it on their own property. Otherwise, it's day has passed.
