  • This video covers track plan evolution, a bit about my model railroading experience, a layout update and sound installations in two locomotives.
    Also, I mentioned this in the Community Tab about two weeks ago, but in case you missed it, take a look at fellow N scaler Chuck Geiger's channel Las Piedras Railroad, ‪@laspiedrasrailroad‬ Chuck was kind enough to post two videos about Fulton Road. He's a talented modeler and he's a great guy who regularly features other railroads on his channel. His desert themed layout is a hoot and like many of us he's a disciple of Boomer Dioramas, ‪@boomerdiorama‬ he has product reviews and much more. He even does Taco Tuesday Shorts! No, not the kind you wear, usually progress updates.
    Thanks!

      Thanks so much Boomer! High compliments for my small shelf layout from someone who so many of us look to for inspiration. I really like your video on the street, sidewalk and gutters on Duncan Way. One day I'll have to try the crackle paste. Keep up your great work!

    Great little history lesson about your work. Very nice that you moved from H0 to N scale. I know too many N scale people that I "lost" to H0 at some point.

      I really like N and like many I never thought I would. It's a great scale to work in. Thanks!

    I'm exactly the same as you described of yourself. I'm not good at planning everything out either. I do have a photographic imagination and can remember details in a photographic way, of something I saw in reality that got my attention, and was facinating to me. I have to create as I build. As yourself, I've got to see something first, then figure out what will work and what won't. Many times it's not like I see it in my imagination. So, some final changes and a bit of tweeking is always involved, before producing the final idea or modeling feet. Yes, I truly understand expermenting. I'm building what repersents a 12 mile freelance industrial branchline module layout. 14' foot long x 18 3/4" inches wide. Simplicity is a must for a small layout. If you stay simple, and concentrate on scenery and super detailing, a small layout can look larger than it is, and be very awsom. I also follow Boomer. His work blows me away. His River Road is probably the most beautiful scenic work I've ever saw on a model railroad. I plan to try his tree building method. If I can pull it off making a tree with autumn foliage-(Autumn is the season I'm modeling on my layout)- I'm going to scratch make all my trees. If I can't pull it off, well, I'll just have to buy and use the best type available, such as realistic tree kits from Woodland Scenics. Looks like you've got a nice layout coming to be. I'm just now at the track laying stage. I got a long long way to go, before model building and scenery. This is my 3rd and final layout. I hope to build a signature one. Reflecting childhood memories, railroad experiences, and special things in my family that gave me many precious memories growing up. Modeling loosly the era of early and mid to late 1970's, during which time I was ten years old, and first was bit by the railroad bug. Company West & Katy Industrail Branchline (Ink Falls Division) is my railroad. Ink Falls is a fictional small rural town. It fictionaly connects via small interchange, two miles south of the layout, to the MKT, which is actually my stageing track. Company West Industrail is a private railroad operation contracter, that operates the branch. They perform their own light duty genral rail maintenance, but contract out big jobs of MOW if needed. They do service, overhaul, rebuild, and repair their own locomotive rouster. Ink Falls is located somewhere in the mid U.S.A.. It could be in Oklahoma, where I live now and grew up. Just somewhere where in those places the MKT ran through back in the day. 10 of the 12 repersented miles is industrial area switching. Well, enough of my yak yak, as you can see I'm excited. Keep up your good work. I'll be checking in to see your progress updates. God Bless untill next time, happy modeling. I'm a subscribed to your channel. I'm not posting anything as of now on my channel. I hope to share a few pics of completed scenes in the future, but thats all. I'm not interested in producing videos.👌👍

      I'm happy you stopped by! It sounds like your industrial branchline will be great. Video production can be a headache and it's very time-consuming. Still, I hope you post a video or two when your layout gets to the point that you're ready for others to see. It sounds very cool. I'm sure you're familiar with Tom Johnson's work. He's mentioned MBR Models in Poland that he's purchased trees from (MRH Forum, Tom Johnson's Cass County Railroad, January 26, 2024 post) if you're planning on buying some. Just a thought.

    just found your channel. Yes, try and error is one way to learn. I try not to do that. Do you have some ops schedule or just run trains?

      Thanks for your comment. I've found over the past few years that using the switch list program referred to in the April 2024 video always gives me a set of cars to come back to from one session to another and gives me a lot of enjoyment. No schedule just whenever the urge to run a train strikes.

      Thanks for the feedback. In this case you could just use a set of dice to call the cars for a specific op. just an idea.

    Assuming that UP 1310 is HO scale, what is that oversized sand-filler part called and where did you get it? Or is it molded as part of the shell? I have a prototype that I want to do that has that feature but I'm unfamiliar with it.

    • @FultonRoad-yv3me
      @FultonRoad-yv3me  19 днів тому

      Hi Jeff. 1310 is HO scale. I think it's molded onto the shell. I've never looked to take it off. This is an Atlas MP15DC that's about 8 yrs old. I just did a quick search. Atlas' parts diagrams for the MP15DC Gold Model shows a "Sand Hatch Large" part #990225. Here's the link: shop.atlasrr.com/t-partsdiagrams.aspx Scroll down until you find the HO scale MP15DC Gold.
      Not sure if this is useful to you but you might be able to make it work. Good luck!

      Not a problem. I've been to Atlas website to look at their parts diagrams many times. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether my shell has that indentation at the top of the filler molded in.
