Going to failure isn’t “optimal” but it’s fool proof. Tons of folks just don’t know how much they truly have left in the tank
Yep. It's funny how the lifting community, which is quite niche to begin with, will debate this 'til kingdom come yet 98% of people you see in a typical gym train with 5-6 left in the tank. Hard training is hard training and you can't really go wrong when you're fighting for PR's every session.
Most people I see in my gym don´t use weights or reps that would challenge them at all. They have more than 50 RIR,@@nomad9584
Yeah true, but eventually you should be able to tell what 2 / 3 reps off failure feels like and you do that - then you can go to the gym more often
Right... If you don't know how closely you're training to failure, you have no clue how hard you're training and you have no consistent measuring stick for progress.
@@MegaShiney99 that’s where the foolproof part comes in
And there it is. After 35 years of training, this is the most simple explanation I’ve heard.
I mean, it's not rocket science, as much as people want to make it that way.
Having access to quality gear means a lot, too. I have 3 connects and all 3 of them have tried selling me fake primo.
Back in the day when I was strong, I pretty much just kept trying to get stronger and stronger and I got bigger and bigger. I didn’t eat big, so I probably didn’t get as big as I should’ve. But you just have to do a little more than last time.
Heard! People ask me if I weigh all my meals and I say YES. How are you supposed to know what adjustments to make if you aren't tracking? As you stated, it's consistency over time that yields results.
exactly
i love deca but the panic attacks I get remembering things from 6 years ago when trying to sleep is harsh
Man I would get panic attacks simply from a nostril plugging up at night with Deca.
That and it’s the only compound that makes me feel borderline depressed at times.
I am at the same boat. like overobseessing about exact calories. injection amount. exercise selection. and generally overthinking everything.
Just saw a very simplified way said by Kurt Havens. He said "When scale stops moving up calories. When strength stops add anabolics" seems simple enough.
additionally, Victor Black and Broderick Chavez recommend that TRT be at 3mg/kg of anabolics. so when progress stalls I will add another mg of test until the side effects are intolerable. I will start to add Primo or Masteron. to me, it is around 5.5mg/kg. I will continue adding food and anabolics as needed not preemptively. and take a break to restart when the bulk usually ends from 12-16 weeks.
Best simple truthful advice.
Like Paul said, be consistent. Even if it is trial and error, at least you tried it consistently.
Consistent Hard training w/ skill, proper diet for goals (if you’re not an expert, pay 1, I see too many guys who are wayyy off), basic PED choices-starting as low as you can & slowly escalate over yrs (not per cycle) if you wanna get somewhere. More advanced or if you wanna dig deep, sure topics can get as complicated as you’d like.
So eat, train, annoy big Paul, get bigger. Got it!
All that golden advice ans your dog comes in at the end to literally steal the show!
LOL - He's needy for attention.
lift to failure/eat/pin/sleep/repeat
One thing that a lot of bros do is use anabolic WITHOUT a testosterone base. They’ll suppress their endogenous testosterone production and maybe gain some size, but at the expense of feeling like shot and causing ED.
How often do you see that? One of my physician colleagues who specializes in sports performance sees this commonly.
The guys that are blaming their coaches are the same guys spending the majority of the time in the gym playing on their phone. Great rant only piece that you need to add is the part about guys spending 95% of their time on their phone in the gym instead of focusing on their training.
Yea, that's an issue too.
Patience, young padawan...
Another excellent video mate. Thanks and keep 'em coming 👌
Best Freaking Video on UA-cam!
Great talk💯 ,thanks 💪
Its a marathon not a sprint. good video as always brotha
Being 160lbs I feel targeted 🤣 dont worry im consistent though gained 20lbs over the last 5 years. Conditioning is on point shredded down to a small amount of lower back and glute fat.
Keep grinding.
Hey Paul. Another great video! I hate to mention one more other thing besides the painfully obvious ones you outlined. Now, if someone's head explodes over this one, don't blame Paul. This is for informational purposes only. LOL Here it is:...
SLEEP. I've coached so many people and enhanced or not, male or female, experienced or not, one common denominator exists for growth that is impossible to ignore. SLEEP. When you CONSISTENTLY get at least 8 hours of sleep, your training and growth will accelerate all other things being equal. Paul, go check your BP dude haha!
I have pretty much slept only 5-6 hours a night my entire adult life and I have grown. Maybe I am an outlier.
@@anabolicbodybuilding Oh, I get that, but so many people are not like that and when they prioritized sleep everything improved. Except their looks LOL
It definitely helps. That's for sure. I wish I could sleep more.
Great content
People don’t eat enough or train hard enough but will take a lot of gear. I see it all the time.
Yep. I see yokels in the gym who have little clue what they’re doing, never train intensely, yet they’re jacked on gear
True lol) just made a vid on it, never traced macros to gram. Just eat enough
Most people need to train their ass off and constistenlty before even diving in PEDS. I grew all natural from 47kgs to 104kgs in 7 years. Then added PEDS, but even then it was just small cycles and even that wouldnt be needed if I didnt want to compete.
Is that when Justin uses the “Lawnchairs on titanic” example? lol certainly there’s phases to each BBers journey, but after decades you realize what paid out in what. I still regularly put in a 40hr study weekend on topics but it isn’t w/ the delusion that the holy grail of mass will come out of it.
Believe me, I love doing deep dives into to things. I am on pub med almost every day.
I look at it from a top down approach. Do the basics perfectly first. Once you have those covered, then you can dig into the minutiae, but very few people ever cover the basics consistently enough and long enough to make it that far.
I'm at somewhat at a divide with my bodybuilding endeavours. Have been training 13 years, 6 enhanced, and would love to use more test than 600mg but at that dosage per week my hair starts falling out, my prostate swells and my blood pressure increases. At 300mg - no sides. I don't know how you handle a gram+ and primo on top, Paul.
Well, I gave up on my hair, and I have no real major side effects otherwise. I guess I am lucky there.
People should consider PED ONLY after they have everything else in check, diet, training and recovery. Personal opinion
If you're speaking of running shit you'll grow no matter how old you are. The shit works
The secret is eat food and train hard consistently not for a few weeks before the summer all year round the amount of guy's at my gym thinks having a shake post work out will do 😂😂
Hahaha how good is milo!
He's a pain in the ass right now. He's still a puppy though - only 8 months old and already 140lbs. I have had several mastiff dogs. They are the best. I have an 8 year old as well.
In other words, all you need is just the basic stuff 😁
yep
Test , dbol 😂 yeah the basics 😂
i have a question about muscle maturity is that a real thing or it’s just great condition
I don't know that there's any science to it, but older lifters have a denser look.
The Damn truth Paul🥩👊🦍😂
Beautiful dog, Paul
He;s my puppy. 8 month old english mastiff and already 140lbs. I have another mastiff thats 8 years old.
So for a bit of a rant Hunter Labrada actually proved that he could get to single digit bodyfat on a diet of mostly protein shakes and protein bars? If this is true then his method worked?
I mean a calorie deficit is a calorie deficit. Might not be the healthiest way, but you can get lean eating candy bars in theory.
i guarantee that average or even more advanced bodybuilder cannot control 3RIR vs 1RIR vs till failure. its a theoretical smart thing but in real life no way.
therefore going to failure is fail-safe for most, just adjust volume down and frequency up.
progressive overload is KEY. small steps
caloric surplus (300-500cals)
some test and bobs ur uncle
But Paul that method doesn't sell special programs 😂
Unfortunately, no. If I had no ethics I would just make some BS up like eat bull testicles and do my magic training program.
Milo: “Eat, train, steal Paul’s flank steak at the end of prep. Repeat.”
lol
Simple not easy
The biggest issue with these guys is their diet. They eat garbage food, sugar drinks ect.And don’t eat like a bodybuilder meat and rice, rice and chicken, steak and rice like you said 5 times a day you grow.
Paul,
You forgot to add “lots of patience.” Otherwise, you were on point.
I thought that was implied with the constant repeating of do this month after month, year after year.
@@anabolicbodybuildingyes. To those who have been around and heard it told again or read any of Justin Harris’s ebooks. Too many thing gear or anabolic accelerated the process 10 folds. They are delusional af.
Thank you for all the great contents!
Appreciate the support my man.
Eating is the big thing, enhanced or not. And it doesn’t have to be very complicated, I do 5lbs of meat a day, with 150 carbs per meal, that’s my bulk, on a diet I just reduce calories via carbs. Train like an animal, and sleep as much as you can. Rinse and repeat
you must be huge
@@ianmontgomery9356 was up to 373lbs in the 18% area cutting now, down to 360
If you're speaking naturally you would have some growth at the beginning if you started in your teens, early 20's then you'll flatine just doing maintenance and refinement for the rest of your life.
🎯🎯
What does Milo charge for coaching
He charges in flank steak.
Bro how did u do in your show?
1st in the super heavies and was in the finals for the pro card. They don't give placings at the finals, but I think I was in the mix.
Don’t forget to drink 3 gallons of water
Or just drink when you’re thirsty
And
Fasted cardio 😅
Although not a bodybuilder, Eddy Coan, probably the best power lifter ever, competed and held world records in multiple weight classes. He just got bigger by being consistent, rarely trained to failure, used progressive overload within a training cycle and trained alot like a bodybuilder, especially his assistance lifts. The big 3 lifts were only trained in very low reps close to a competition.
He has mentioned he doesn't have the genetic structure to be a bodybuilder but used their training ideas to get bigger and progressively stronger all over.
I mention him as he literally out grew multiple weight classes in powerlifting by training short of failure and a fair amount of volume.
Eddie is the GOAT
I wish I could eat more I know I’d grow but my appetite is shot
I struggle with appetite too. I eventually hit the wall in the offseason.
How fat. 15%?
?
its 15% fat thats how much it is. how tall is a midget?
If you can't see the outline of your abs, you are too fat.
KISS 👌
Consistency, repetition and having a plan. Not rocket science, nope
If you weigh all your meals do you need to weigh your poop too?
What is your point?
The only guys I have ever seen grow in 35 years of doing this were ones who were taking shit 💉
Test is natty, all else is gear!
At this point I would agree.
and whats wrong with that?
It seems that there is this supposed Utopia at the end of the tunnel for natural bodybuilders. They still believe that there is this continous improvement that will happen to the time they drop dead. I wish someone would finally come out and put them in there place for a reality check. Maybe a video you could do.
Whatever happened to natural ...
To natural what?
