It’s platonic. Alternatively, you can age up Peter, but please know I don’t ship them in this form.
Trigger warnings for suicidal stuff. But it’s Deadpool so. If you know him, you know he does that…but take care regardless.
Are you ready for this plot? Here we go:
Deadpool and Spider-Man and BFFs. They hang out on rooftops and fight bad guys together because that is my JAM. One day, Wade calls…some car service to come pick him up (Uber? Lyft? Taxi?? Who knows?) because Dopinder either doesn’t exist or isn’t available. Peter works for this car driving service and thinks it’d be funny to pick up Deadpool. In that moment, Deadpool figures out Spider-Man’s secret identity.
I mean, Tom’s version of Peter is so un-secretive about his identity when it comes to fellow heroes (or anti-heroes) that he wouldn’t mind.
Back to the story. Here we start intersecting Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Thanos spares Wade because Josh Brolin put in a good word. Peter dies on Titan. Tony tells Wade because he knows they are BFFs.
They’re both really sad. Wade is so sad he wants to die to be back with his platonic soulmate, but Wade cannot die, so he keeps killing himself to hang out with Peter in his little afterlife apartment for a few minutes at a time.
Peter is dismissive of Wade at first, hoping he’ll go back to his life. But the more often Wade comes back, the more empathetic Peter is, and the sadder he gets knowing that Wade keeps doing this to be with him.
BUT ALAS. What can they do? Not much, it seems, so Wade has to live in a world without Peter and be sad.
Luckily, in five years, they’ll be okay, right?!? Maybe I’ll do a follow up of them reuniting after Far From Home comes out. Meh.
Some of the voiceovers are hard to hear; the volume levels of this song were rough. I was going to add captions at the bottom, but it didn’t look good to me, so here are the VOs in case you can’t hear:

That little part at 0:37 + the fact that this is a platonic friendship, kinda gives their relationship a dad and son vibe. Like Tony handles the death of their newly adopted son well, while Wade is a grieving mess. I really like it, as someone that never understood the apeal of spideypool.

I made it as ambiguous as possible so that you could read the relationship however you wish! As much as I romantically ship this in comic book form, this version of them could only ever be platonic to me, so I support your read of it. :)
