Traveling this weekend by myself for the 1st time and my anxiety is thru the roof.. I hate looking foolish and having to rely on strangers for directions.. thank you for this Vid
Toni Korin don’t worry, although ATL is big it is very logically laid out and has great signage. Check in/drop any checked luggage at your airlines ticket counter, then head through security, then go to your concourse/gate. You got this!
I made it through other airports just fine but ATL is too big and confusing for me but maybe it was because I was so sleepy too early in the morning for me
Brian Ozment (Update) I did pretty good! 👍🏾 The worse part was the driving thru Atlanta to get to the Airport .. felt like I was in the middle of drag racers lol but my trip went smooth even picking up my car at one of the paid garages .
Toni Korin I’m glad it all went smoothly. I also find the traffic around Atlanta and the airport to be the most stressful aspect of flying out from there.
Next month I will be flying on a plane for the first time and I will also be by myself so that makes it even more stressful for me.. This helped a lot and relieved a little anxiety.. Thank you!
That looked easy lol. I just thought because it was big and busy it would be horrible to navigate around but everything was pretty straight forward. I’ll be flying southwest too so I’m glad you made this video!
nunya bizness I live around there i have traveled out of there several times to go back to Wisconsin for the holidays it is somewhat easy to navigate if you’ve been through there before if not it can get a bit confusing and this place is also fucking HUGE lolzzz
So who else prefers late night/early morning flights? I just like the silence and comfort of those late night flights. How quiet certain airports get and the natural serenity it affords.
Yes absolutely. It is less busy during the early morning and late hours. Less congested. Peak times are normally between 9am and 9pm when there are the most people, flight arrivals and departures build during the day. ATL is a major connecting airport and becomes quite congested once inbound flights begin to arrive around 8am to connect passengers to outbound flights around 9-930am. Banks of arrivals/departures occurs about every 2-3 hours until around 9pm.
Im flying for the first time and its by myself out of atlanta. Ive been so scared of screwing things up. Like where to check in, where to find where I'm going. Im allowed a carryon and a person, so do I check both in? 1 in? None in? I am terrified Update: that was insanely easy. At least going through delta. It was so easy to find my terminal, security was a breeze. Honestly, I was blown away by how simple it was to navigate. If you're in the same boat as I was, it's gonna be okay, you got this. If I can do it, you can do it.
You’ll just keep your carry-on and personal item with you until you board the plane. You only have to check the larger pieces of luggage. Don’t worry, you’ll find it simple and easy once you get there. Check out some of other ATL airport videos to see what to expect. Hope you have a great trip!
That’s why I’m here now. I’ll be experiencing this tomorrow with Southwest. I’ve never even been in an airport. This video was helpful and so was your comment!!
I'm flying in 4 days to Florida with 3 kids alone. I needed this video! I was nervous about finding the train but not anymore. Just follow the crowd after check in. 👍🏽
Crazy Copelands that is really all it is - following the crowd. Although ATL is large and busy it is a relatively simple airport design and has plenty of signs/directions. Not sure where you are flying to in Florida, but if it’s Fort Lauderdale you should check out my other video that covers landing and getting to baggage claim at FLL. Safe travels!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I’ll be at the Atlanta airport with my family for the first time in forever next month. This helped tremendously! Thank you for making this video
Great video! I will be traveling by myself for first time. I've been nervous about navigating through ATL airport but your video has helped so much to know what to expect. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I am flying out of Atlanta to New York for the very first time in 3 weeks, and really needed this video. I appreciate you doing this!
I have multiple ATL airport walkthrough videos including some showing the walk that travelers arriving at ATL complete. Thanks for the comment, I hope you had a great trip!
This truly calmed me down, I’ve flown plenty of times, although Atlanta is always the most confusing for me because it’s so big, but all last night I just felt sick thinking about it and over stressing, it’s my mothers first time flying, and out of Atlanta, alone, and afraid of heights and she is terrified, and I don’t know how far I can walk with her through the airport. Thank you so much for this video, at least now I can give an insight of what to expect flying Southwest and arriving at her gate. Once again thank you so much!!
It's very simple. Ask questions of airline staff or airport employees. Remember you are in the deep South. Southerners and southern hospitality is very real and you will find us to be polite and helpful.
This videos really helped me..Me and my boyfriend leave next Saturday to go to Virginia and this really give me a peace of mind and calmed down my anxiety I was almost gonna cancel my flight cause this is our first time flying and we were scared honestly I see going threw an airport isn’t what I thought it would be...Thanks for this upload‼️❤️
Jamelle Mcrae Obasi A Gate to gate transfer isn’t a big issues, especially if it’s in the same or and adjacent concourse. Even if it is at the opposite end the PlaneTrain makes it quick.
@@pestoboi I just came back from my trip and I had to hurry to get to my gate due to the pilot delaying us at the airport here in North Carolina by making us sit a extra 30 minutes when it should have taken us only a hour to get to Atlanta being that North Carolina is a state that is not too far from Atlanta and I was supposed to get there a bit early. I rode on the train inside the airport which got to the area quickly but I still had a lot of walking to do to get to my gate but luckly I made it on time when I didn't think I would make it. I was flying out of Atlanta to catch a international flight which is why I'm thinking that's why I had a lot of walking to do once the train arrived in the area and the area was mostly where international flights take off at but I really hope you are able to catch your flight on time. Overall it was easy to get around and navgate in the airport but I hated being rushed but once I got back to the states and had my layover back in Atlanta, it was easier to deal with since the layover was longer this time.
Thanks for the comment! My best piece of advice for a first timer is to watch what other people ahead of you are doing and just basically imitate them. Safe Travels!
I'll be flying from Atlanta back home next week, and i always like checking out new locations through google maps and stuff like that to already have somewhat of a sense of direction (unfortunately no street view for inside the airport haha) so this video was definitely helpful
Brian Moody the only thing I wasn’t able to show was the TSA check, but it’s pretty simple. You just do what all the people in line in front of you are doing when it’s your turn. You’ll have ample opportunity to watch them before it’s your turn to go through the scanner. Also the TSA agent yells directions out to everyone every so often so everyone nearby in line to hear.
Thank you so much for this. Flying Southwest out of Atlanta airport in 3 weeks for the first time and this video is a lifesaver. This will be my exact route 😂
Should have watched it the first time I had to fly out from ATL to ONT. I'll be making another trip in a few days. Thanks for the video. I hope that I'll be able to navigate through the airport more quicker.
Flying for the 2nd time in my life in the next 2 weeks and this time it's alone! This video helps me remember the order sequence LOL. Atlanta to Memphis!!
You’ve got this! Since there are less people in the airports than they used to be it’s a little more slower paced and forgiving than it was pre-COVID. I hope you have a good trip!
THANK YOU SO MUCH IM A MINOR AND IM GONNA HAVE TO FLY BY MYSELF. My dad gonna get an escort pass to take me to the gate but I still wanted to watch this to make me feel better
Airline employees are very helpful to young travellers. Depending on you're age, you're Dad can accompany you to you're departure gate. Don't worry you will be taken care of very well. Enjoy you're flying experience.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. With it being a major hub, layovers are rather common here. Fortunately I live in Georgia and it’s the airport I usually fly out of.
Thank you! I will be flying by myself for the first time in two weeks with a 2 hour layover in ATL... I'm very nervous because of the size of the airport but this video helped calm my nerves a bit.. I would like to walk between concourses instead of taking the train though if I have time, I heard they have some pretty cool exhibits in each one! Thanks again for posting.
Emily Marshall there are neat exhibits for those walking in between the concourses. The great thing is if you walk in between concourses and decide that it’s a bit too much you can always jump on the plane train. Safe travels!
You'll most likely be flying out of the International Terminal at ATL. You should check out my video on international check in at ua-cam.com/video/vhGKbrc9Vdk/v-deo.html Also, thanks for the comment - I hope you have a great trip!
I’m flying for the first time in 30 years in a couple of months and airports give me huge anxiety. This video helps to relieve some of that stress except for the bit about getting to the airport on time.
Sonja Wright I’m glad that the video alleviated some of your stress.... now if I could only figure out how to make a video about simplifying and conquering Atlanta traffic...hmmmmm
Brian Ozment I live in Virginia about 5 miles from the Norfolk international airport but the stress of getting an Uber to the airport on time is weighing on me.
Sonja Wright I’ve always found that the earlier you get to the airport the better and the less stress that you incur. I get there early and spend my extra time people watching.
I’m a 15 year old boy about to fly by myself and I’m having to go through all of this by myself at the ATL airport right after my football game… lord bless my soul.
Just pay attention to the overhead signs and don’t be afraid to ask an airport worker if you have a question- they will be very helpful! I hope you have a good trip!
Thanks for the positive comment! You should check out some of my other Atlanta airport videos. They contain trips to other gates as well as a check in from the south terminal where Delta operates from
I'm Flying to Miami for this first time... Thank you so much for this video... I live in Georgia and didn't know how to get through this airport... LoL... Thanks again...
Oh my gosh thank you so much for making this video! I don't leave until July but I'm still searching the internet for videos like yours. I'm a first time flyer so I have absolutely no clue how to do anything. I'm nervous that I'll get lost or miss my flight or something. Also how do you know which terminal and concourse you should go to?
The domestic terminals has two sides, North and South. They are connected by an atrium. South is pretty much all Delta. The North Terminal is everything else (Southwest, United, Alaska Air, etc). If you enter the wrong terminal, its no big deal because you can just walk over to the correct one in maybe 2 minutes. As far as which concourse you go to, once you check in and you get your boarding pass from the kiosk or desk (whichever the airline you are flying on uses) the boarding pass will have a gate listed. It will be something like "C-10" or "E-22". The letter in the gate number is the concourse that the gate is located it. Once you get on the plane train just get off at the correct concourse, ride the escalator up and at the top their will be signs with arrow pointing the direction of gates. I remember being intimidated on the first flight I ever took because I had no idea what I was doing - that's why I've made videos like this to help others. Hope you have a safe journey!
@@bozy106 Thank you. That clears it up! Haha I screenshot your reply just in case I forget. I appreciate you answering! A lot of people who upload videos like these don't.
Thanks for the video... I'm in atl and travelled a few times without checked luggage.I was worried that I ll look dumb even tho I have 17 days to leave... This time I have checked luggage soo the checked luggage part was helpful😁
Viviana Perez I’m glad the video could be helpful. I know that I always like to try to thoroughly research everything prior to traveling so that I will know where to go and what to do. Safe travels,
Thank you very much for this video! It helped me get an idea of what the Atlanta airport look like but I’m still nervous lol. I’m traveling in a few months to Italy so I’ll have to go through Atlanta and few others. But overall thank you again for this!
Seriah Schenk I’m glad That you found the video helpful. If you’re flying into Rome Italy you should check out my other video which depicts landing in Rome and Walking through the airport to the express train that leads into downtown Rome.
Your traveling companion didn’t want to walk beside you with a camera strapped to your head. After passing thru security she made a dash for her gate. I enjoyed the video. Thanks!
I couldn't bring myself to having the camera strapped to my head in the airport - I would feel like too much of a dufus. It was actually clipped to the chest strap on my backpack. This was one of my first videos and my companion was a little shy. Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
First time flyer and going from Atlanta to California next Friday, so worried I’ll not find my plane, flying Frontier. Nervous don’t wanna mess up. Any advice would be ever so helpful!
Check out one of my other videos at ua-cam.com/video/dMWBZj8h9Ps/v-deo.html It shows the North Domestic Terminal where you check in for Frontier flights and drop off any checked bags you may have. You will also see the North baggage claim where travelers returning on Frontier flights will pick there bags up. I also have several different other ATL airport videos that may be helpful. The simplest bit of info I can give you is to pay attention to the overhead signs and don’t be afraid to ask airport personnel if you have a question, they usually have no problem with answering a traveler’s questions. Also, your boarding pass will have your gate number listed on it. It will be in the form of something like D-10 or C-22. The letter in the gate assignment tells which Concourse the gate is in. To see a good map of the airport concourse layout, check out the maps at Atlanta airport's official website at www.atl.com/maps/ You can also click on a specific Concourse in the map and it will show the exact layout of the Concourse, the location of each numbered gate and the stores/restaurants/amenities in that particular Concourse. I hope you have a good trip!
Awesome! I love the video! I plan on flying out of ATL for the first time in June (if this Corona Virus don't mess up my plans) to LAX on Southwest. This video helped me a bunch!
Thank you for posting this. We're flying for the first time and my anxiety has been through the roof about it since I can't walk through everything ahead of time. We'll be on a 6 am flight and it looks like you were that early here. How long does TSA take that early and is there anywhere to eat open? I was debating buying Precheck but it looks like they don't open until 5 am.
Kadinh13 at that time of the morning the main TSA line isn’t bad at all- maybe 5 or 10 minutes from entering the line until exiting. Some eating places open at 5 but most open at 6. You can look at the opening times of the various eating places by going to the airports website at www.atl.com
Kadinh13 it was around 4:45 a.m. when We entered the airport and our flight was scheduled for 6:20 a.m. if I remember right. Hope you have a stress free trip!
My wife dislikes the escalators too. I will say that some of them are exceptionally long. Although I’ve never used them I do believe that there is at least 1 elevator at each concourse for ADA compliance, just in case you have a real phobia. You will probably just have to really scrutinize the overhead signs to find it.
Check out my videos ua-cam.com/video/JV-syTsT_SQ/v-deo.html that I recently posted. At time stamp 4:35 you can see an elevator near the escalators leading down to the Plane Train right after TSA security. Also at the 7:51 mark on the same video you’ll see a sign pointing in the direction of the elevator used to get to the gates in Concourse A. Hope this potential alternative will help ease your mind...
P E S T O B O I I’m glad it was helpful. I know when I first started traveling that new places and modes of transportation were intimidating. That’s why I try to show everyone how easy it is, even in one of the busiest airports in the world.
Thanks for this video! I have some questions - is TSA at this airport really bad? I always hear horror stories about dealing with them, so I'm really anxious, as this is my first time flying! Also, if you get there earlier than 2 hours, can you go through check-in, TSA etc and then just wait out the 2+ hours at the actual place where you wait to board? How do you know what concourse and gate to go to? Does it say when you print your tickets? I worry so much about doing something wrong or getting lost and missing my plane!
I’ve found that the TSA checkpoints at ATL airport are about like all the other airports, there are just more security lanes and agents. Sometimes they make you take your laptops and liquids out, sometimes they don’t. They usually always make you take your shoes off, but not 100% of the time. They are pretty efficient at getting people through the checkpoint. One thing that a lot of people going to ATL for the first time don’t realize is that there are actually 3 different security checkpoints. There is the main security checkpoint (which is the largest), and there are 2 smaller checkpoints designated as the “North” and “South” security checkpoints. I’ve found that these smaller checkpoints are often much less crowded, probably because people don’t even know they exist. If you look at a map of the Domestic Terminal at www.atl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Dom-Terminal-Mar-2019.pdf you will see that the Main Checkpoint is in the upper center of the map and the smaller checkpoints are above and to the sides (shown in grey). As far as checking in early, I’ve personally checked in and waited around 3 ½ hours at the gate for my flight to depart. As long as your airlines allows you to check in, you’re good to go through security and sit and wait.
You will learn what concourse and gate you will need to find when you get your boarding pass from either the ticket counter or self-serve kiosk (whichever you use) when you check in. It will usually say something like “Gate C22” which would mean that you need to go to Concourse C and then find gate 22. As far as taking a wrong turn or getting lost, I wouldn’t worry. The concourses are very easy to navigate because they are essentially just long straight hallways with stores, restaurants, and airplane gates on each side. Also, the overhead signs are very simple to understand and are everywhere. If you re-watch the video, you may be able to see what I mean. I hope that these answers ease any anxiety. I remember what being a first-time traveler was like and still to this day I like to extensively research where I am going and how I’m getting there before a trip. That’s why I made this (and some other videos) to help those folks who want to know what to look forward to. I hope you have a great trip!
@@bozy106 The main TSA Security checkpoint is huge and congested but there are. many lanes to help expidate you through. TSA in ATL is no different than in any other airport. Remember millions of passengers transit the ATL airport daily. If you arrive in ATL on a connecting flight you do not have to go back through any TSA CHECKPOINTS again. Only passengers originating travel in ATL have to go through the TSA SECURITY CHECKPOINT. However if you leave the airport for some reason, you will have to go through the main TSA SECURITY CHECKPOINT again.
Thank you much for this video. This was very, very helpful. My nerves are a little less crazy. Thank you again for making this helpful video. I will be flying Spirit, I hope the process is similar.
Thanks for the comment. Check out some of my other videos on ATL airport which show similar topics like moving between concourses using the Plane Train at ATL. I hope you have a great trip!
I'm glad that it was helpful for you. My intention was to show people how to navigate the Atlanta airport if they had never been there before or lately. Safe travels!
I went from Frankfurt Germany, to Atlanta Hartfield Jackson, to DTW Michigan, to Burlington airport, and let me just say, Atlanta airport was stressful and took forever to get to terminal E
Hi , I'm traveling in Sept.: my questions: 1.Where are the nearest restrooms near southwest check in counters? 2. Someone told me that "Southwest" counters have changed their counter area in north terminal , since this video, what is the best door for me to go into now instead of N5 door? for less walking ? 3. Is it easy to find the priority lane in Northpointe TSA. I'm new at this lane.
It appears from ATL airport’s online map that the nearest restrooms are near the entrance to main security. The map also appears to show that Southwest’s checkin counters are still in the same location. I haven’t been there in a few months but generally ATL keeps their website up to date with changes. Their map is here: www.atl.com/maps/ As far as priority As far as I know it is near where the south TSA checkpoint and main security are. If you look around the 3 minute and 33 second mark of one of my other videos - ua-cam.com/video/_33HKi7TWig/v-deo.html you will see the one I’m talking about. If there is another one I’ve never seen it. Also, the south TSA checkpoint is solely TSA Precheck.
My I get ready to first walk-in to check-in and booked a flight a American Airlines Ticket & Boarding Pass and I am get ready to catch the flight from Atlanta, Georgia to traveling soon in California until next year 2022.
Went to the Atlanta airport in 2023 and flew to North Attleboro, Massachusetts to celebrate my grandfather's 90th birthday. I almost didn't go because my grandfather has been having issues with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. We had a good time.
I’m glad the video was helpful. The main reason that I do many of my videos is that I remember what it was like the first time that I was going to fly somewhere. I had no idea what to expect and I researched it the best I could. The problem was that people often only had bits and pieces of videos out there. I figured that I could make videos showing the process from A to Z so that other people who are either new to traveling or new to a particular airport where I’ve filmed could research it and be a little less anxious. If you are taking a trip from, to, or through ATL airport you should check out some of my other videos like my plane to baggage claim video or my connecting flight video. Thanks for the comment and the subscription!
Okay I am back to your video. I'm leaving in 19 days and it's stressing me out a bit since I've never been in an airport or flown or any of that. If you don't mind can you tell me the process of going through the airport?
Going through an airport can broken down into steps .... 1.) Getting boarding pass and checked luggage drop-off; 2.) Going through TSA/security; and 3.) Going to the appropriate gate and waiting for the flight to board. If you are flying out of ATL, what airline are you flying and is the flight a domestic (inside the USA) flight? I will be glad to give you more specific directions.
@@bozy106 Do I still need to go to the check in at the airport if I check in online(already have my boarding pass too) and I'm only bringing a personal item and a carry on? And yes I'm flying out of ATL. Its an international flight with Virgin Atlantic.
@@aryonnahamilton2400 International flights leave from concourse F which is connected to the International Terminal on the other side of the airport. Since you don't have any checked luggage and you already have your boarding pass, I don't see any reason why you couldn't go through security at the domestic terminal (the terminal depicted in this video) and ride the Plane Train to concourse F to your gate. The Plane Train connects all of the concourses (T,A,B,C,D,E, and F) with T concourse being anchored to the domestic terminal and F concourse being anchored to the international terminal and the other concourses being in between. The airports website www.atl.com has an excellent interactive map of the airport if you want to visualize what I'm describing. I would only see the need of checking in at the international terminal if you have to check baggage or print a boarding pass. I intend on doing a video in November about the international terminal but that will be a little too late to help you. I hope I have somewhat answered your question.
My I am getting ready to booked a flight down to California from Atlanta, Georgia a American Airlines and I getting ready to check-in and TSA pre-check to wait until for TSA checkpoint and before ready to catch a flight down to California.
Looked like one of those first flights of the day departures. I had to take Groome bus to ATL and sleep overnight at ATL to catch my flight early the next day. The only thing open at 3:00am in the main entry hall area was one restaurant. It was close to Mother's Day weekend and the restaurant was not staffed for all the people sleeping in the airport overnight so they could board those first of the day flights. The next day TSA was making people throw out almost any food they had in carryon luggage. I had to dump my banana and sandwich in the trash.
It was a 6:15 a.m. flight so we were checking in a few minutes after 4 a.m. Those early flights (or sleeping at the airport) makes for a long and tiring day!
This airport is nice but one big drawback is all the restaurants close at 8 pm so if you have a connection there you would be smart to get something to eat at the first airport. I wish I had known bc as a diabetic it's not good for me not to eat until after midnight when I finally got home
Unfortunately these days after around that time there are few options except for prepackaged sandwiches or snacks from some of the small storefronts like Hudson’s.
What if you don’t wanna drop off your bags and instead take them them on the plane with you? Do you still go to the clerk? Also, is southwest always gate C?
If you only have carry-on luggage (less than 10x16x24 inches for Southwest) you can just print your boarding pass at the kiosk and roll your carry-on with you to the gate. You only have to deal with the baggage people if you are checking a bag. (I usually check my carry-on sized bag since Southwest allows 2 free checked bags per person - unlike other airlines). Every Southwest flight I've been on either left from or returned to a gate on C concourse in ATL. According to Southwest's website, all of their operations in ATL are from the C concourse. Happy Travels!
I will be arriving from europe to here and be on a 4 hour layover for a connection flight to California, will they put me through emigration here or in Cali? Also thank you for making this
You should go through Immigration/Customs upon landing in Atlanta, because the flight from Atlanta to California will be a regular domestic (in-country) flight.
I have a question since it will be my first time flying ever and by myself this Friday When finding the gate you’re supposed to be at say you didn’t pick your seat when booking…how do you know where you sit? Will your boarding pass that you print just randomly seat you somewhere on the plane that’s available? Or do you have to go up to the desk at the gate and do something about it?
Typically (but depending on the airline) you will be assigned a seat at check in which will be on your printed order electronic boarding pass. However, Southwest Airlines operates a little different by assigning a boarding position which essentially assigns you a position in the boarding line and you sit at whatever seat you want or is available when you get on. If your boarding pass doesn’t have a seat number you can just check with the desk at the gate whenever you arrive there to wait on the plane.
T concourse was the original international concourse. T stands for Terminal and is the closest concourse to the main check in area. The remaining councourses are lettered A B C D E and F. F is now the international concourse. T has its own separate TSA Security checkpoint and is much less congested than the main TSA Security checkpoint.
Most airlines have an smartphone app that will generate an electronic boarding pass upon checking in online, so that can be used instead of a printed boarding pass. You can usually check in online 24 hours before the flight takes off.
I'm heading to ATL but this seriously has me even more nervous because I have never been on a plane and not to mention I'm going by myself to meet up with my GF In ATL
Check out some of my other ATL airport videos, particularly ua-cam.com/video/oFoy7AvnTP4/v-deo.html which shows arriving in Atlanta and heading towards baggage claim and the area where arriving people meet up. I have several ATL arrival (and departure) videos. Watch a few and hopefully you’ll see it’s fairly simple and uniform. Thanks for the comment. I hope your trip goes smoothly!
Just booked my very first flight, it’s also my first solo trip. I’m freaking out trying to understand how everything works and this helped so much. Y’all pray for me my nerves are gone at this point 😂
Shinell Dixon on this particular flight We flew with Southwest Airlines. They allow 2 free checked bags per person. When I fly other airlines I typically choose economy tickets. These usually allow for one piece of checked baggage and the ability to select your seat. If you pick the airlines version of basic economy you are assigned a seat at check in and you will have to pay around $30 per checked bag. Most airlines allow a smaller free carry on bag as long as it meets their size requirements.
Yes, a driver's license is sufficient for domestic flights (although in October 2020 a drivers license must be Real-ID compliant.) The reason I used my passport was that we were flying to board a cruise that morning and we already had them handy in our backpack. Also, since I spent $100+ dollars for each passport it makes me feel like I'm getting my moneys worth out of them when I use them!
Flying 1st time tomorrow and I got 2 luggage and a carry on. When you were printing your boarding pass and luggage tags, do you pay for the luggages then and there?
Lit Tee depends on the airline. Southwest Airlines includes 2 checked bags along with a carry-on. Other airlines (depending on the type of fare and airline) typically charge for checked bags and allow on free carry on, but not always. (Some like airlines Spirit charge for carry on AND checked bags.). Often you can pay online beforehand or when printing boarding passes.
@@bozy106 Okay so I'm on Jet blue, I just read that there's no fee for carry on but 1st baggage is 30 and 2nd baggage is 40. So do I pay that when I'm printing boarding ticket and luggage tag or after?
Lit Tee you’ll pay while printing boarding pass. You’ll like JetBlue. Good in-flight entertainment built into the headrests and more legroom than all of the other domestic carriers.
Interesting. I've never seen any other part of ATL besides the terminals, since I've never originated a flight there, only been through on connections.
There are many shops, restaurants, artwork and historical exhibits of mueseam quality located in the transportation mall where the trains are located. Enjoy our airport. It is a city in itself and is something you will never see anywhere else.
Correct. The boarding pass will have a gate listed like "A24" or "D2". In the A24 example you would go to Concourse A and you find gate 24. The same goes for gate D2. It is in Concourse D.
Woww, i have flown many times but never alone and i had totally forgot how the Atlanta Airport is! im so glad i came across this video as i am too flying for the first time without any family or friends. Im 25 y/o, its definitely time but im nervous bc im scared i will get lost or at the wrong gate🙃😩 Im soooo glad i came across this channel. I take my first flight solo in JULY🤞🏾
Chris mckeithen I fear that may be the case. A lot of people will be hesitant to get into a sealed up tube with so many people even after the infections subside out of fear of a relapse.
Brian Ozment I am going on a trip on my own 😬 and I wouldn’t have known where to go without this video:3 so thank you but I have one question! Do people have to go on the train?
@@dennydaisies5911 no, you do not have to ride on the plane train. Where you see me get onto the plane train at there is also a long, long corridor that runs between the concourses/gates. Many people decide to walk between the concourses instead of taking the train. Along this corridor in between the concourses are moving sidewalks every so often as well as various displays of art or history that are sometimes interesting to glance at as you walk by. I've walked between concourses before when I had a lot of time to kill before my flight boards or if there is a ton of people waiting for the train. If memory serves me correctly, it probably takes about 4 or so minutes of regular walking to get from one concourse to another.
I need to update the description with the song titles/artists. This was one of my earlier videos and I know I got everything off of UA-cam’s creator media center then. I’ll work on it any update the description and comment again on your post here so you’ll get a notification and know it’s done!
If your connecting flights are with the same airline and you purchased them at the same time as part of a single transaction, the airline with "check your baggage through" to the final destination and you only pick it up at the end of the last flight. However I always make sure to ask if they will "check the luggage through" when I initially hand it over to in order make sure the representative is reminded to pull the special "transfer" tag on your luggage also. This tag is a visible reminder to the luggage handlers that your luggage's final destination is not the destination of the first flight.
No. If you are on a connecting flight, you're baggage will be transferred from one flight to another. Notice out the windows, thehundreds of small baggage tugs pulling baggage carts are transferring you're luggage. It may appear confusing but it is a highly coregraphed efficient system. Pick it up in baggage claim at you final destinnaation.
I believe in you
Thank you I was looking for something exactly like this!! Not Atlanta but just any airport gives me a sense of things
Next month I will be flying on a plane for the first time and I will also be by myself so that makes it even more stressful for me.. This helped a lot and relieved a little anxiety.. Thank you!
I'm glad you found it helpful. Safe travels!
Same here. Wasn’t nervous until I started watching UA-cam videos about checking in at airports lol
Frist time at atlanta airport for me too
Same!! I’m going for my first time in a week!
Alyssa Sitman How was it?? I’m 13 and I’ve rode airplanes by myself many times and it was stressful
It looks easy because it is easy.
So who else prefers late night/early morning flights? I just like the silence and comfort of those late night flights. How quiet certain airports get and the natural serenity it affords.
I do prefer those 5am flights, there always seems to be calm then that isn't present during the midday hustle.
I don't mind red eye flights, but only if it's last resort. I have been on a 6AM flight before. Leaving Miami for Wilmington, NC. It was packed!
Ikr
definitely late night
So weird seeing what society was like without masks
Jarius Spears maybe we’ll get back to that point again soon!
Im flying for the first time and its by myself out of atlanta. Ive been so scared of screwing things up. Like where to check in, where to find where I'm going. Im allowed a carryon and a person, so do I check both in? 1 in? None in? I am terrified
Update: that was insanely easy.
Thanks for the encouragement! I am terrified.
@@rhondajohnson9594 you got it! Trust me! You can do it! If anything, you can ask any of the workers, they're everywhere
That’s why I’m here now. I’ll be experiencing this tomorrow with Southwest. I’ve never even been in an airport. This video was helpful and so was your comment!!
Thanks for making this video, there are a lot of first time travelers and we freak out a bit but this video help some. 👍🏻
David Juarez that’s why I try to make them, because I remember that “first time” worry I had. Safe travels,
This is best video yet! I've watched so many. Thank you so much. Flying the 29th to Hawaii by myself for the first time. On Southwest. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the positive comment. Check some of my other ATL airport videos on my channel!
Brian Ozment I will be flying to MCO Orlando Airport.
I haven’t ever flown into there, but from my understanding it is well laid-out and easy. Have fun!
My trip was a success. Orlando has a great layout. Thanks for the video again!
I’m glad you had a great trip,
This is by far the most detailed video the rest of the videos are about the shops, they're not specific at all... thank you!
I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for the comment.
Thankyou for this video! Finally a video that shows you EXACTLY how to be prepared and what to expect 🙌🏽
I’m glad it was helpful. You should check out some of my other ATL airport videos. Thanks for the comment!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I’ll be at the Atlanta airport with my family for the first time in forever next month. This helped tremendously! Thank you for making this video
I'm glad it was helpful to you. Safe travels!
Great video! I will be traveling by myself for first time. I've been nervous about navigating through ATL airport but your video has helped so much to know what to expect. Thank you!
Thanks for the positive comment. I’m glad you found the video helpful. Have a great trip!
Shanna Buford I’m glad it could ease you and your mothers anxiety. I hope she has a safe trip!
Brian Ozment thank you so much!!! She took all your advice and did great on her own!!!
Kaelynn Hall glad it was helpful. Airports always have simple and easy to understand signage telling people where to go and what to do. Safe travels!
This helped a little bit since I will be flying into Atlanta for the first time with a very short 42 minute layover to get to my gate.
Jamelle Mcrae Obasi A Gate to gate transfer isn’t a big issues, especially if it’s in the same or and adjacent concourse. Even if it is at the opposite end the PlaneTrain makes it quick.
Same for me! A small 40 minutes between my flights. I’ve never flown and I’m going by myself. So stressful!
So was the 40-41 minute a good enough time because I also have one but its 48 minutes and I’m scared I’m gonna miss it
Angela Grace my flights on the 27th, can’t tell you yet
First time flying tomorrow and this video helps a lot! Thank you(:
Thanks for the comment! My best piece of advice for a first timer is to watch what other people ahead of you are doing and just basically imitate them. Safe Travels!
I'll be flying from Atlanta back home next week, and i always like checking out new locations through google maps and stuff like that to already have somewhat of a sense of direction (unfortunately no street view for inside the airport haha) so this video was definitely helpful
I'm flying for the first time since I was 6 months old. Very helpful!
People like you are a lifesaver thanks !
I’m happy that you found my video helpful. Safe travels!
Thank you, for this video. I'm traveling international solo for the first time and this really helps.
Hope you have a good trip!
Thank you so much for this. Flying Southwest out of Atlanta airport in 3 weeks for the first time and this video is a lifesaver. This will be my exact route 😂
Have a fantastic trip, and thanks for the comment & view!
@@bozy106 thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH IM A MINOR AND IM GONNA HAVE TO FLY BY MYSELF. My dad gonna get an escort pass to take me to the gate but I still wanted to watch this to make me feel better
Dustin Allen I’m glad you found it helpful! It makes it much less stressful when you already know what to expect. Safe travels!
Airline employees are very helpful to young travellers. Depending on you're age, you're Dad can accompany you to you're departure gate. Don't worry you will be taken care of very well. Enjoy you're flying experience.
God damn it’s cool to look at this airport again since it was my first airport I ever been to
Me too
This is amazing and exactly what I have been Looking for thank you so so much !!
I'm glad it was helpful to you! Safe travels.
The ATL Airport is most definitely an amazing sight and facility. It is also easy to navigate.
Thanks I enjoyed the video. This airport is no joke. I live in Alabama and have layovers here all the time. Whew!
Thanks for this, me and my anxiety will be visiting next week and knowing my around will help!
I'm glad the video helped ease your anxiety. The signage at ATL airport is super clear and easy to follow/comprehend. Safe travels!
Thankyou so much! I'll be going to korea soon, so I needed a refresher of the layout
You'll most likely be flying out of the International Terminal at ATL. You should check out my video on international check in at ua-cam.com/video/vhGKbrc9Vdk/v-deo.html Also, thanks for the comment - I hope you have a great trip!

@@bozy106 Thanks for letting me know, I’ll definitely watch them!!
Brian Ozment I plan to get to the airport two hours before my flight. I know once I get in the air I’ll start to relax.
Very helpful to get my general bearings before heading out from ATL. Much appreciated!

Eleisha Waller I’m glad you found the video helpful. Safe travels!

This is the one I went to on my Mom's birthday this year from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta Georgia!
ThemeParkJunky51290 I’m glad it was helpful. Hopefully all this mess will die down and you can make your trip as planned. Safe travels!
@@bozy106 Thank you so much for your reply.
Kadinh13 it was around 4:45 a.m. when We entered the airport and our flight was scheduled for 6:20 a.m. if I remember right. Hope you have a stress free trip!
I put the video on x2 speed. Boy did that awesome music really rock.
i appreciate you! i really came for the escalators. they scare me more than the plane!
The escalators are the longest you will ever see. There are also elevators if the escalators are not comfortable for you.
@@bozy106 Use the elevators that are adjacent to the escalors.
I really needed this! Thank you.
Thanks for the comment. Check out my other ATL airport videos. Have a great trip!
Thank you so much for this!! You have no idea how much it helped!!
Thankyou for this video I am going to travel on Martin Luther king birthday day and this help me a lot

Their map is here: www.atl.com/maps/
As far as priority As far as I know it is near where the south TSA checkpoint and main security are.

I almost didn't go because my grandfather has been having issues with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. We had a good time.
Ido what gave you this idea to make the video but I’m so glad you did
I’m glad the video was helpful.
Safe travels have a good flight
This was so helpful I will be flying commercial for the first time in August
Royal Simplicity👑🌹 I’m glad it was helpful. After you fly you’ll look back and think “Wow! That was simple!” Safe travels!
My I am getting ready to booked a flight down to California from Atlanta, Georgia a American Airlines and I getting ready to check-in and TSA pre-check to wait until for TSA checkpoint and before ready to catch a flight down to California.
My luggage is getting ready to dropped off a security to get a airline ticket.
Ok
@@bozy106 yep I definitely thought other people in the same situation ought to know.
Brian Ozment thank you for the info! Also, when transferring planes, do we have to go through security again or can I just go straight to the gate?
Heey Coco you can go straight from gate to gate. No need to go through security
You will go through customs and immigration at you're first point of entry in the US.
I have a question since it will be my first time flying ever and by myself this Friday
When finding the gate you’re supposed to be at say you didn’t pick your seat when booking…how do you know where you sit?
I remember a lot of this is my flight T17 Atlanta to Houston
T concourse was the original international concourse. T stands for Terminal and is the closest concourse to the main check in area. The remaining councourses are lettered A B C D E and F. F is now the international concourse. T has its own separate TSA Security checkpoint and is much less congested than the main TSA Security checkpoint.
Could we get a version without music? Thanks!
Just mute the volume
It isn't music, it's someone using a stapler over and over again.
i’m gonna be flying alone for the first time, do you have to print your boarding pass at that screen? or is there another way
Most airlines have an smartphone app that will generate an electronic boarding pass upon checking in online, so that can be used instead of a printed boarding pass. You can usually check in online 24 hours before the flight takes off.
It varies. You might have a paper boarding pass issued at a ticketing location or at you're departure gate.
You’ll do just fine. Check out some my other airport videos. Have a great trip!
Thanks so much. God bless you!
Thanks for the comment!
love Southwest Airlines!!!
As far as luggage allowances and price (usually), it’s hard to find a better value.
Did you have to pay extra for your luggage ? And did you pay for your check bags ahead of time online
Why are you using your passport if you're flying domestic? Wouldn't a driver's license or state ID be enough?
Yes, a driver's license is sufficient for domestic flights (although in October 2020 a drivers license must be Real-ID compliant.) The reason I used my passport was that we were flying to board a cruise that morning and we already had them handy in our backpack. Also, since I spent $100+ dollars for each passport it makes me feel like I'm getting my moneys worth out of them when I use them!
Yes Us state drivers license are suffi isn't. Passports are only required for international travellers. Either are a acceptable.
@@bozy106 Thanks. You very helpful!! 💙
SUCH a good video!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Im a kid and i love this airport i love going to this airport at night it feels so werid
I only love airports because of the noises and cool stores, especially the train
Interesting. I've never seen any other part of ATL besides the terminals, since I've never originated a flight there, only been through on connections.
Stone Trellis it’s exceptionally large once you include the baggage claim area, ticketing, security and detached portions like the car rental center.
There are many shops, restaurants, artwork and historical exhibits of mueseam quality located in the transportation mall where the trains are located. Enjoy our airport. It is a city in itself and is something you will never see anywhere
else.
@@bozy106 Largest in the world sir!
I got question if the boarding pass have the terminal plus the gate so first you need to find the terminal and then find your gate right?
Correct. The boarding pass will have a gate listed like "A24" or "D2". In the A24 example you would go to Concourse A and you find gate 24. The same goes for gate D2. It is in Concourse D.
It's going to be my first time flying alone. I always go with my family but this time I'm going alone. So nervous
No need to be nervous. Check out some of my other ATL airport videos, you can see how straightforward the airport is. I hope you have a good trip.
@@Smileyvido thanks for the comment. I’m certain you’ll do fine and hopefully will have a great flight!
I'm starting to forget just how busy the airport used to be. Nowadays, it's a ghost town, kind of like a dead mall.
jaysondudas yeah, it will be nice when all of this is over and everyone can get back to traveling again with no worries,
Chris mckeithen I fear that may be the case. A lot of people will be hesitant to get into a sealed up tube with so many people even after the infections subside out of fear of a relapse.
This really helped Tysm for posting this
Sweety Pie I’m glad you found it useful, thanks!
@@dennydaisies5911 here is a video from another UA-camr that gives you an idea of what its like .... ua-cam.com/video/C0apwl-t6Mw/v-deo.html
Hey, what is the name of the music in this video?
I need to update the description with the song titles/artists. This was one of my earlier videos and I know I got everything off of UA-cam’s creator media center then. I’ll work on it any update the description and comment again on your post here so you’ll get a notification and know it’s done!
If I have connecting flights, do I have to pick up my luggage at every airport
THANK YOU OMG THIS WAS INVALUABLE!!!!!!!
