8:55 not Ore Mountains, but Middle Mountains - České Středohoří. Ore Mtns. are flatter and are right behind the Middle Mtns. which are of vulcanic origin and younger so they have pointed peaks.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful drive, drove there many times as I lived in Dresden for about 2 years. However, it was before the last section of the D8 motorway in Czech Republic was opened to traffic, had to take the I-30 through The Elbe Valley or the I-8 over the mountains between Usti nad Labem and Lovosice back then. Greetings from a fellow roadtripper from Germany!
Germany did take notice. The first state to introduce 100 limit on road work sections was Hessen a few years ago. But it only applies to similar road works as in this video. You need to have a 2 lane carriageway with hard shoulder, in Germany thats RQ29 or RQ29,5 Autobahn with a 2+1 traffic direction. You do have atleast a 3,50m lane and THEN you get 100 speed limit. If you have the usual 2,75-3,25m lanes , it is not allowed and it stays 60-80 limit. The good thing is: Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland use 3,75m lanes as standard Autobahn lanes. This is not the tiny french Autoroutes, who look like a joke compared. But they want 7Euros per 100km as toll you have to pay.
Poland in practice uses 3,5m, because major part (6400km from 8500 planned total) of polish motorways are build/planned as droga ekspresowa which have 3,5m lanes and 2,5m emergency lane. Only 2100km are built as autostrada which have 3,75m lanes and 3m emergency lane. I am happy with 3,5m lanes and 2,5 emergency lane. I think wider standard is an overkill. Droga ekspresowa Has also sharper corners but our cars and tyres are so great nowadays that it doesn't make economical sense to build more straight roads. Cargo cars anyway can drive only 80 and it's related to braking distance, not curvature of road. But big failure is that usually barriers are very close to hard shoulder edge and in practice there is no ground shoulder so TIR truck occupy whole width of emergency lane and driver don't have possibility to fix his truck safely. If there would be 0,5m of additional ground shoulder it would be perfect.
The road looks very nice. But the now planned express railway between Dresden and Praha should has been build parallel to the Autobahn construction. Railway and roads are both important infrastructure.

It was the reason for landslide during construction of highway. The slopes of these mountains are not as solid as classic mountains.

That is something I didn't know! It looks like Germany could easily implement widespread 100 km/h construction zones.

I agree, but railways are much more expensive than roads and that's probably they made that wait!
