I thought I was tripping! I moved my daughter into a full on white school. I do have to drive 20-25 mins there probably like 5-8 Latinos there and tell me why she went from being a straight As student to having barely passing grades the first 2 years. She's now back to her grind and all caught up but now I know why. The education is not the same for lower incomes.
Unfortunately, this is a systematic issue. Education inequality is very real and even more noticeable at the university level because it's there that you notice how prepared or unprepared you are compared to others. That's also why a lot of first gen kids drop out their first year.
Worse than that- he and a bunch of people like him can’t see the privilege they actually have. I was the same way back in college and grad school, until I had to go out into the real world and realize that to be a productive member of society, you have to play as a team with members of other ethnicities and cultures. All of sudden, my neighbors, co-workers, the people in the same boat as me were of all types of backgrounds and I didn’t have the privilege of complaining about my cards, etc. Bro is at The Stanford complaining smh. Can’t make this shit up. Kids these days. I hear ya in the Central Valley. Beautiful place, but you have to want to see the beauty. Blessings.
