  • Ok guys we Finally got the last video in this series done! This is where we did a back to back test of our dyno mule combo. As a refresher the combo is a 461 cid Pontiac that has all forged internals, KRE 290 cfm 85 cc D port heads, one of our Pro Warrior Hydraulic Roller HO 041 for EFI camshaft, and as you can see it is topped of with a KRE Trade Wind Tri-fi Tri power intake with three 500 cfm AED custom configured 2bbls
    We made a 600 rpm baseline pull to start off making sure the engine was making the power we expected it to. Those dyno numbers are represented by the first dyno sheet in the video.
    We then put our 3-D printed Holley 2300 base plates, our FAST-AF Tripower air filters, our off-set carb studs, and a set of stock 1966 Pontiac Tripower air cleaner lids.
    After verifying everything was running ok we made another 600 rpm per pull to see how much power we were going to lose ..... SURPRISE!
    As you can see by the second dyno sheet, we picked up 1.6 ft lbs of torque and 5.9 horsepower PEAK! We also saw average torque pickup 2 and average horsepower was up 1.8.
    We were VERY pleased with those results. If you are interested in any of these parts you can find them here on our website:

    Hey Kevin,
    Tim here, u made more HP with the air filters installed, cuz the filters straighten out the air as it goes over the air bleeds/venturis....OBVIOUSLY great flowing filters......Vizard proved this, with a good flowing Filter, air is less turbulent, and allows the carb to pull a straightened out charge, so the result is better atomization/signal to the boosters........again Vizard (gosh i'm sure u know who he is) proved on the dyno......LOVELY combo my brother!!!

    Ya might need split lock washers for the wing nuts. The center one worked its way loose.

      Not a big deal on the dyno but good eye buddy.... just didnt tighten them down enough. Not the end of the world AND we sell wing nuts with nylon inserts!

    That is a sweet setup! Will it fit under a stock hood on a '69 Firebird? I've got a '72 455HO/4spd block from a GTO that came as a spare when I bought a '72 455HO T/A. The VIN is still on the block so I'm going to try to track down the car before I build the block to put in my '69 Firebird. See if the current owner wants to swap a new aluminum block for this one. Seems like a fair deal to me.

      If a stock '66 Tripower will fit under a stock '69 Bird hood this will fit - we have installed this unit on our '66 GTO with 1" spacers and still had hood clearance. We have also run a stock '66 Tripower with 1" spacers as well - no hood clearance issues.

    did you add timing when you installed the filters?

    What set up flows more, EFI , or the 2300"s?

    • @TinIndianPerformance
      @TinIndianPerformance  5 місяців тому +2

      EFI "should" flow more since there are NO obstructions in the throttle body HOWEVER, the carbs always seem to out power the EFI.

      @@TinIndianPerformance in my understanding of it all....carbs will ALWAYS beat EFI for power......instead of a computer TELLING the engine what it wants, the carbs let the ENGINE tell the carb what IT wants, yes, spend months on a "tune".....u cud get it closer.........only good at Pro Stock levels, for normal driving and power, carbs will ALWAYS win!!!...everybody is SPOILED with EFI......start up and go, no warm up period, or fussy warm up........then u wonder why it doesnt have the same UMPH of a carb....so u washed down the cyl with fuel, puttin it into the crankcase, when cold, just so u cud drive 3 min sooner, or let it warm up, let it be fussy, and when u stomp on the GO pedal, its MUCH more rewarding.......i'm a carb guy period!!

    Have you driven them yet? I have seen plastic bases (not yours!) loosen up & let the filter tip over into the throttle linkage! You don’t want some morons prized possession get hung wide open! It’s happened before, it’s not pretty! JS!
