He's telling his story. He's showing that it's possible to achieve your goals if you put your mind to it and work hard. When you write a song, you write about how you feel and about your life. I bet he was feeling pretty good that he's become successful and that's what he wrote about. If all you're paying attention to are the "I" "Me" and "My" 's, then maybe that's because all you ever think about is yourself and you don't like it, because he's not talking about you.
