I am decorating a vacation rental cabin and have a very colorful “oriental” wool rug in the living room I’m using as inspiration. I was struggling with a coffee table and wanted something rustic. I’ve had this chunky 70’s pine table covered in pine pollen for 20 years. It’s distressed from the weather and scarred up. I cleaned it up, sanded off maybe half of the old finish. I mixed in 2 tsp bentonite clay into 1/3 cup your DIY Apothecary chalk paint and let it set up for 10 mins. Then I took a small wood block, and randomly sort of “frosted”the top, legs and bottom shelf of this table. I let it all dry overnight then sanded much of the dried paint off. From there I tacked the surface to remove the dust and then used a Polyshades 2 in 1 stain/poly sealer in Espresso which is very dark. I went board by board (the table is made of 2x6” boards), slathered on the dark finish and immediately wiped it off. I cant tell you how amazing this coffee table that was headed for the dumpster was transformed. The bentonite clay really added something amazing to the paint for sanding and finishing. In all I bet I have less than three hours into it and maybe will have another hour into it putting on a clear finish. Your paints are amazing. I bought several jars last week and am anxious to do more projects with them! You are amazing too!!

Every single time I see your father (aka, grampa) and your sister, I see how much they look alike, their laughter and facial expressions are mirror images of each other! Did you both grow up in the same household? I seem to remember that you two are half sisters so this is why I asked if she grew up with him? Sorry, hope that isn’t too personal, was just curious. Love that you all have the tiny houses around each other. I love my family but now that we’re all adults, I couldn’t stand living together. But, living next door would be marvelous! 😄😄😄☺️☺️☺️☺️
Living close by is perfect, we dream of getting property some day with several cottages on it. Danielle and I grew up together but have different bio dads. My family is wonderful and my dad raised me as his own. However, this is probably why I am the only one who likes to paint the other side of my family that I didn’t meet until later or all very artistic.

❤️ the vid as usual. MOST especially the doors. I believe this is too often overlooked as an eye-catching, creative way of decorating a home. It is the spot of color that adds warmth if not “Welcome Home” to the homeowner and guests. (kind of like a tie to compliment a man’s suit OR shoes complimenting a woman’s dress.).
