I've been impressed with the new lock related stuff that Sparrows has been putting out. The new locks, the re-keying kit, and this kit are great for learning how locks work.
Someone mentioned it and I agree, this would be great in the Sparrows Revolver lock. Best review guide on Master Keying I've seen on UA-cam so far. Great Job!
This giveaway is for the master key set, not the cutaway lock :-) Like, Subscribe and Comment to be in with a chance to win. Oh, and read the RULES in the description. Really. www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/masterkey.htm
Would you consider doing a video on master keying traditional locks, such as Yale etc? I think it'd make a good video. how much do pins sizes deviate? Medeco for example would be different, but I mean, between tradition euro profile key ways Thanks again man
Kevin Kreis thanks :-) it's the first time I thought I'd throw some graphics in since the theory can be hard to grasp when you first start out. I might do more in the future :-)
Finally, master keying brilliantly explained and demonstrated. That great little kit surely helps making it easier to get to grips with the theory and practice of master keys. Security takes a hit with these kinds of locks (easy to pick), but for multiple rooms in the same building, it makes life easier for managers, service staff, etc. We had these in a building I worked in Canada. The high security stuff was at the main entrance; once inside, every room in the floor space had locks with one key to rule them all... we called it a 'Passepartout'. :) Honestly, I found it quicker to rake the lock rather than go look for the master key...don't tell anyone! Actually, I was responsible for security so no worries there. To everyone else, please stay safe and keep it legal!
Great video makes it very easy to understand. Never been a book learner and more of a hand on visual learner. Even an old noob like me can follow this. Your videos have helped me a ton and am progressing quickly thanks to you.
Hi I’m a newbie as far as locksmithing is concerned just got my first set of picks and some practice locks, your video was very easy to understand and to follow keep them coming!
An more complex setup is with each single-suited key opening the door to their building and the door to their own room, while the building attendant has a key for just the building but not the individual rooms, and the super attendant having a key for both buildings, but still not the individual rooms. And of course variations of that, while still making sure none of the keys accidentally opens a lock they're not supposed to.
Master keyed systems are super interesting and the amount of levels and different locks a system can hold is amazing. Only down side is bigger systems have multiple wafers in each chamber which makes them easier to pick
Impeccable explanation of master key systems lock noob. I’ve always had a rough idea how they worked but that’s made it much clearer. Thanks, I’d love to win the set!😬
Nice explanation and presentation 👍👍😎😎😎 Sparrows have been super busy extending their range and all the new bits I have seen I am impressed with👍👍👍 Keep up the innovation guys😘😘😘
You did a very good review of the Sparrows master key kit. I see in the description that this video is a few years old and I'm sure that the giveaway for this is over but I'd like to win it. I will be ordering this from Sparrows eventually because I am going to start doing locksmith work as well as the H.V.A.C&R work I do now. As soon as I get the tools to take door knob locks apart and a pinning kit for those locks I will be re keying a lot of locks for my customers who have apartments and rental properties and they do want master key for the rental properties
Nice video, really clear demonstration of master keying. It's worth mentioning though that creating more shear lines on a lock increasing picking susceptibility. Count me in for the draw by the way.
I happen to own one of those Sparrows training locks, so this would make a fine addition! :-) Also I do agree that Sparrows' selection of products is very nice (usually with quite reasonable prices too).
Really a brilliant kit for learning and getting a basic understanding of a master key system, especially in combination with one of the Sparrows cutaways :D. I once did see a video where masterkeying was explained fully in detail (maybe defcon or so...), but I did forget a lot and will definitely have a look at it again :). The little curse of masterkeying are the multiple shearlines for picking, but in my experience thicker wafers help more than nasty thin ones ;D. Thank you for the cool review buddy :D.
It is really a lovely set and a cool idea from Sparrows :). There is a lot of cool new stuff from them :) and I havn't seen anything really exciting from other manufacturers lately. I did even see cutaways with prepinned chess pins :D yeah.
Just started following you! You have great content. I just placed a large order form Sparrows and didn't know what this was, so I didn't buy it. If you haven't already picked a winner I would love to get this! Thanks for all the great videos!
Nice set and a great review that's really clear and easy to understand. I'd really like to give that kit a tryout as I've not done any masterkeying before. I wonder how it would work with a Sparrows Revolver?
Nice explanation. I suspected that's how master keys worked, but good to have it confirmed. I presume they are easier to pick, given that there are more correct positions for the pins?
enjoyed the video. can you do another video showing the different kinds of pin and how they offer resistance to picking?(ie: a spool key pin or lock pin and where should the sheer line fall in relation to the spool)
I would certainly recommend Sparrows, Southord C series and Max series as well as Peterson 0.018 picks. Best value are the Southord C2010 and the Sparrows Tuxedo in my opinion. There are many oth r good kits out there though :-)
Lock Noob The revolver seems pretty nice, especially for timed picking, but the fact that you have to rotate the cylinder to the correct position to test a key could make the whole experience less enjoyable. I was thinking of something more like one lock per 'user' key (with the card symbol!). For me, as long as they are not mixed, the master key and the revolver are very nice products.
This is a great product and would love to win it and experiment with it. :0). This would be an amazing addition to the sparrows revolver they recently launched. 4 master keyed locks in 1. :0)
Seems more like an educational kit rather than a training kit. I don't really see a point in training on picking masterkeyed locks, or am I missing something?
Not about training rather than learning as you intimated. It's. Afun kit to explore if you find locks interesting. Certainly I don't know of another kit like it on the market :-)
I've been impressed with the new lock related stuff that Sparrows has been putting out. The new locks, the re-keying kit, and this kit are great for learning how locks work.
Yeah, there is some great stuff :-)

Thanks very much; good luck :-)

I'd certainly think about it :-) I don't really have the kit or keys though :-)
Excellent demo and explanation of master keys and wafers. Love the graphics, makes it much easier to grasp what is going on.
Kevin Kreis thanks :-) it's the first time I thought I'd throw some graphics in since the theory can be hard to grasp when you first start out. I might do more in the future :-)
thats pretty cool that sparrows is teaching master keying! It's a great skill to know.
I agree :-)

Thanks :-) Good luck :-)
Often wondered about master keys. I always thought it was some sort of black magic. Now I know, thanks. Enjoyed vid as usual.
Thanks; good luck :-)
An excellent learning resource for what can become a complicated topic.
Thanks 🙏

Yes, that does sound more complex :-) I wouldn't know where to start pinning that one, lol :-)
A fantastic kit, well illustrated and top quality item once again from Sparrows. Thanks once again for most enlightening video.
Thank you :-)

Master keying is quite the art and you’ll need a lot of pins! :-)
@@LockNoob and of course that special tool known as "The Cold Wrench" for those times of frustration when jobs get hard to do
Nice video, really clear demonstration of master keying. It's worth mentioning though that creating more shear lines on a lock increasing picking susceptibility. Count me in for the draw by the way.
Very true, Good luck :-)
Nice explanation LN. Multiple shear lines sound like interesting picking too.
Wel... easier picking... :-)
Haha i remeber the janitor at school having like a hundred keys

Really a brilliant kit for learning and getting a basic understanding of a master key system, especially in combination with one of the Sparrows cutaways :D. Pretty well i think :-)
I'll have to get some pennys together for when uklockpickers get some Revolvers in then :-)
Nice explanation. I suspected that's how master keys worked, but good to have it confirmed. I presume they are easier to pick, given that there are more correct positions for the pins?
Alan Clarke yes, they should be easier :-)

Marty Hastings this is an old one I did... is it what you were looking tor? ua-cam.com/video/5rKFMEORh3k/v-deo.html
Very nice! Out of curiosity, what picks do you recommend? Sparrows?
I would certainly recommend Sparrows, Southord C series and Max series as well as Peterson 0.018 picks. Best value are the Southord C2010 and the Sparrows Tuxedo in my opinion. There are many oth r good kits out there though :-)
I think this kit would go pretty well with the new revolver kit to learn how it works

Very nice kit, but i feel that it needs to come with 4 locks.
CodeBurger or, you could treat yourself to the Sparrows Revolver ;-)
Lock Noob
