I'm Swiss. I love Caran d'Ache, and I support them by buying all writing utensils, that they produce, by one of the most important Swiss brands. The quality is the best, that you can buy. I can actually recommend all of the brand's products.
I’m a big pen enthusiast, and I’ve tried pretty much any brand out there in the 5-500$ price range. One thing i’m really anal about is the play/ gap between the refill and the nose of the pen or the body . The 849 sérié actually has too much play compared to much cheaper pen from pilot or uni pens. The quality of the 849nis outstanding I have to admit, but that excessive play is no no for me and unacceptable for pens in this price range.
Really enjoyed the video ! My Grandpa used to work for Caran d’ache in the sixties for almost thirty years. He has hundreds and hundreds of stuff like pencil/pen/gold feather pen and even some really rare vintage Caran d’ache watch and lighter (all for free) that you can’t even find them anymore. He told me a lot of great/incredible story about this brand so yeah thanks for bringing me these memories again :)
I just purchased a matte gray 849 Rollerball. I cannot wait to try out the larger size. I also appreciate the wider variety of refills available due to the incorporation of the g2 (Parker style) cartridge.

Present fave is my Caran d'Ache Ecridor Chevron Rose-Gilded Ballpoint using the Goliath (Broad) in black ink. Perfect. I n every way and absolutely fantastic to write with. I also have their 849 'Pop' in scuffed graphite back. Again, just perfect as this 849'er has been dropped so many times, yet it still plods on regardless. Thank you for such a *great* video, so well presented. I've subscribed, too.
hello, i have these Caran D`ache prismalo aquarelle from somewhere between the 1930 and 1950 that i got from my late grandmother, and i really want to know more about them, but i can´t find anything about them anywhere. so if you have any sources or any information about them at all, i´d really appreciate it.
I have a Blue 849 with black medium Goliath refill. A bit small for my hands but it is outstanding compared to others. Is the Ecridor more comfortable?

The Ecridor is heavier and more luxurious as it is fashioned out of silver with delicate guilloche engravings.
It's basically the same pen, but more heavy. It's made out of brass, actually, with plating in silver, gold or rose gold.
i have this 849 with an ecridor metal clip - it reads inside "clip acier". it was from my grand mom, any idea how can i date this pen?
