  • First working run on the Ol' Girl after a massive teardown/rebuild/save from the hedgerows of rural Upstate NY (late April 2023)
Digging a pit for my uncle to bury scrub brush and the remnants of an old barn.
More videos of the mechanical restoration to come; thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

People who can diagnose, rebuild, or fabricate machines are like magicians to me

D2's are nose heavy, I did most of my leveling in reverse, after the rough in was complete.

Yes they are under powered, I had to push a lot down hill to move product, cause it did not like pushing uphill. Have to learn how to operate with that in mind.

For sure, already taught myself a few tricks and will definitely do some back dragging next time I'm up there

They're pretty short. It's difficult for a beginner to grade smoothly.
A larger tractor is much easier.
Slop in the cylinder linkage also makes for fun. By the time you get the blade to bite you're several seconds away from taking the slack out to pull it back up a bit.

You're absolutely right about the nuances of working with this machine.
I've run all sorts of different equipment over the years and they all have their pros and cons.
