I've just seen the movie. Ariana definitely deserves an Oscar nomination, she was amazing as Anita.
Is the movie a masterpiece?
@@delrey874 not a masterpiece no but its definitely a respectful and good take on a classic with some strong performances defo worth the watch and Ariana outshone everyone as Anita
@@delrey874 Anita was leaps and bounds from what everyone in the movie brought. She and Rita were the only good ones. Honorable mention to Maria, but I didn’t believe her. I believed Anita.
I’ve seen it twice with my cousin and we sobbed while watching it, I sobbed for a good 15-20 minutes straight nonstop because it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
Agreed Mel
Just saw West Side Story. She was incredible. A powerhouse performance.
I want to be this woman’s friend. She just radiates happiness and joy! So refreshing
👍🏾
willing to be a friend too...with or without benefits.
She stole the entire movie for me-felt like it was her story being told!
I felt EXACTLY the same! I saw it in a largely deserted theater near Los Angeles the second night, Friday.
Agreed
Yep yep!!!
i absolutely agree. i personally didn’t connect with the main storyline (Maria and Tony) but always felt myself smiling (or crying) whenever Ariana was on screen, her performance was outstanding.
I think that's also the character. Anita is a scene stealer and is more dynamic than Maria.
She absolutely KILLED IT as Anita. Perfectly cast. I really hope she gets an Oscar nom!
She won best supporting actress today and I’m seriously so proud of her!! It’s on her Instagram, she deserved it too! I sobbed during her performance her acting was phenomenal!
She won an oscar!!! :D
@@notyouruser. I know!! 🥺🥺💜
The way she talks and looks at the audience. she’s born to be a star. I love her so much.
She’s going to be nominated for an Oscar next year ! Mark my words !
I believe so too 🙏
Hopefully
Keep the winning streak going.
And she’ll win!
Guaranteed. She was amazing.
Good for her! We saw her on Broadway in the Donna Summer musical and she absolutely killed it, and she was great in The Prom movie too. Looking forward to this West Side especially since Anita is everyone's favorite character in the show. Also loved that she mentioned Chita Rivera in addition to Rita Moreno. She knows her history! (And when I was doing theater in my 20s, West Side Story was the 2nd professional job I had, as a Shark, and I treasured that music and choreography!)
I saw this amazing movie today, Ariana DeBose stood out, there was something regal about her. She danced with her entire being, she moved the screen, she put her whole heart into this role. I loved this movie, I cried, my heart broke, I screamed, I was glad it was over, my heart could not take any more. Bravo Ariana DeBose!!!!
“Now I get to be ‘the lady with the yellow dress and the red skirt.’ ” that’s so adorable knowing that Ariana knew Rita as “the lady in the purple dress”- my heart is gone, just melted
Finally watched it. I have seen the original and stage production many times but seeing Spielberg's interpretation was like seeing it for the first time. Rachel, Ariana, and the rest of the cast were absolutely spectacular and make you feel all the emotions of the characters.
Oscar winner Ariana Debose has a nice ring to it! Been a fan of hers since Bring It On: The Musical!! 🤩🤩
Her and Bernardo were by far my favorite part of the film I will cheer for them from now on and the rest of their careers
This is one of the greatest things about being a Latina woman!! Thank you for being such an awesome representation of our culture.
That's what I'm saying! Love seeing this in my time!! ❤️🇨🇴
Afro-Latino, specifically, who often get overlooked by their Own communities.
But she’s not Latin right ?
@@marisolgarcia3123 huh??
@@marisolgarcia3123 She is Afro-Latina... haven't you been paying attention??
Give her all the awards! Like Rita Moreno, she was an amazing Anita.
she needs to frickin win every award
Ariana Deboce stole this movie I saw it last nite! She had me shaking with emotion with every look, every move, every note, She did not miss a beat with each word. She will! Get the Oscar 😃
Ariana Debose is fabulous in every way! Love the energy she gives and that smile... Wow!!!!!
She’s one of the people you know is a good singer from her speaking voice. The term melted chocolate comes to mind. Absolutely beautiful
I just saw this movie, fell in love with her character Anita, such a strong woman. She did AMAZING.
I just watched the movie, her performance made me cry too many times to count. She's awesome.
4:50 when shes basically like, " no noonononono" you're not gonna talk over me
Watched her career blossom on Broadway, so great to see her knock it out of the park as Anita.
The Bullet from Hamilton's gonna win an Oscar!
I didn't realize that was her. But I see it now ❤
And her hair is flawless!!! She is getting the credit she deserves for real!!! Very proud of her!
Her impression of Rita is spot on 😂😂😂😂
She has a beautiful smile.
The same thing happened when I saw the film version of Chicago...applause after every number!
Absolutely deserved
She's the perfect cast for Anita, I hope Wicked screen also like Steven Spielberg 😍😍 the Film is terrific experience 💋
Wicked got Jon Chu to direct and let me say if he does as good of a job as he did with In The Heights it's gonna be great for sure
"PON LE FUEGO" she killed it as Anita. Continue the legacy Bory🇵🇷❤👍
She is finally getting the credit she deserves! And she looks fantastic!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁😁
If you going to play Anita, you better be ready to steal scenes. Ariana's got the right stuff.
Great job, great interview, love the original and this version too
Love Ariana Debose!! She's amazing & so talented. She has to win an Oscar!!💯🇵🇷👑
just saw the movie and her performance truly had me in tears! a gem !!
Saw the movie yesterday loved it. Blown away by her performance.
She and the character Riff were the standouts.
GIVE HER ALL THE AWARDS
They filmed on my block in Harlem back in 2019 surprised it took so long to release but cant wait to see my neighborhood in the scenes❤
I'm an ex Harlem resident, east and west. Can you tell me where in Harlem was this done? Thanks.

Ive just seen this movie today and i cant stop the music/ songs running in my head! ❤❤❤
She killed it as Anita!!!!!!
I like her personality and this interview. Looking forward to watching the movie. She is stunning in that red too.
My all-time favorite movie has been remade by Spielberg.😲 Rita's in there but still !!! Original is always the best. Jimmy Bryant was the singing voice of "Tony" Richard Beymer was the actor. Favorite songs Maria and Somewhere. Marni Nixon singing voice of Maria played by Natalie Woods. Movie theater are expensive but it will be worth it on IMAX.
She is stunningly beautiful, absurdly talented, and so intelligent.
She is one of this generation's brightest stars.
Gorgeous!! Her performance, and her! Loved her and Bernardo juntos! Loved it. I'm gonna get it in DVD👍🏼💃🏽 for mi colección
What a lovely, spirited, and genuine young woman. Definitely an Oscar nom-- at least.
Great clip..definitely gonna go see this
She could play Eartha Kitt kit. Someone, please make this happen!
She is a fierce dancer and actress, thats all I have to say!
She's amazing!! Full of energy!!
what a good interview. thanks jimmy. so often we find hosts (fallon) butchering the whole thing
She was incredible in the movie ah gave me chills!
She is a phenomenal actress.. goodness woman.. Oscar in your way👏👏
Only Spielberg could have pulled this off!
She is a Tony Award WINNER. The Ensemble from Hamilton .
She’s the secret character in Hamilton: The Bullet
Although she has few lines, she kills them in Blow Us All Away
Now excuse me while I cry 😭 over Philip
This woman is the absolute coolest, I can't wait to see her in the movie
She was AMAZING as Anita! Probably the best actress in the movie, I think
You’re right! Say it with confidence
"I think I'm gonna make something with her."
* slowly turns to an imaginary camera, blinks three times, and slowly turns back to the screen *
She was great as Anita. Saw the movie on Friday night.
So talented , Intelligent and pretty..She brought an authentic Puerto Rican energy to the movie.
The ending jajajajajajajaaj i love her so much
She was an extra in hamilton… what a phenom
Not necessarily an extra i mean she was part of the ensemble but the most important of them, The Bullet. It's a key part, but even so I'd say in Hamilton the whole ensemble is an integral part of the show and part of what makes it what it is honestly
I can't wait to see West Side Story.
I remember her from Hamilton. She played a soldier and wore the outfit. She played other roles too, like the bullet.
I've gotta see this!!!
Love this!
She was amazing!! I only remembered her
Best supporting 🌹🥰🙌🏽
She is such a great and entertaining person based from her interviews. Her face and personality, her voice and the way she talks reminds me of Camila Cabello.☺️
Let’s all stop talking and just hand her the Oscar.
She is stunning!!
She was the best part of this movie. Oscar nom for sure
Deserves nomination for sure!
this movie didn't get enough press or hype that it deserved. not enough people were talking about it
Beautiful, very talented with lots of charisma young woman.
My family and I just saw the movie. We all agreed that she should get an Oscar nomination for this performance.
I watched WSS yesterday and she was phenomenal. Even better than the original in my opinion. I hope she wins an Oscar...
Congratulations, Ariana DeBose. You were grandiose on West Side Story.
She really said it’s hard for Stephen who’s in editing room to not share.
Yep, unless Stephen says something we’ll never know what happens in “West Side Story” or how it ends lmao
I can’t wait to see the movie!!❤😅
She was amazing!!
I love how she look and doesn't ignore the audience
She's world class talent.
She better get an Oscar!!! What a future she's going to have!!!!
Qué gran pareja hacen Anita y Bernardo. Se comen la pantalla 😍. Saludos desde España
Weeeppppaaaaa🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Ariana is awe-inspiring in this film.
Beautiful!!
I'm glad Steven Spielberg didn't use Jennifer Lopez...Thk God! Ariana ia so whole-hearted and intentional and humble and absolutely great at her craft. She's also sooo genuine....
Mygawd, this movie is being so hyped…..
She did the thing.
The Bronx gave us Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn gave us Rosie Perez, Chicago gave us Gina Rodriguez. Which Puerto Rican community gave us Ariana DeBose?
Ariana is such a breath of fresh air
She is a gem.. :^)
I would love to see her play Ronnie Spector in a biopic.
Representation matters.
Puerto 🇵🇷 Rico ❤👍
Lets go Jimmy!
CHARISMA!!!
Knew her from Hamilton! Isn't she beautiful and great!
She will definitely WIN the OSCAR!
