Thanks Ken, I just started to look at a few vinyl reviews and yours was the first that showed passion for the music and was informative about the artists and record labels rather than the monetary value as determined by discogs. Well done video. Stay safe and keep following the medical advice as we have done in Australia.

I got a lot of modern audiophile reissues, but an original vg sound of Jazz mono is the most impressive sounding record I own. Don’t know what it is but it smokes everything in presence, presentation, scale and body of the instruments
Thanks for bringing back that 70's funk fusion- memory lane for me- I used to play sports in a park across from a club in Buffalo where Spyro Gyra used to practice and play (loudly with the doors open!). Love' em or not they would pump out that breezy mainstream jazz vibe and they gave us an excellent soundtrack for our summer. Speaking of Michael Brecker check out "Tales from the Hudson" my favorite Brecker LP. Some excellent up tempo tracks, a cover of a Pat Metheny song (as well as a guest appearance) and a very well recorded audiophile work. Peace and keep 'em coming Ken! Tony
After watching this I thought the Neil Larsen Jungle Fever looked familiar so I looked through my collection & found it. I picked it up a couple months ago at a thrift store for $0.50. Played it for the first time just now & it’s awesome!
Holy crap! I thought I was the only person who loves that Jungle Fever record. I bought it when it was a new release and I still dig it all these years later.
Great list, appreciated. My list is simple, finally listen to all the records I bought in the last year, its hard to keep up with listening, a luxury problem:-)
I love the albums you picked out . Out of the Afternoon is my most played album. Also love IN N' OUT OLE ' by coltrane is another great album to listen to . I was in Birdland when Ole came out . Love the double base , Workman and Art Davis .I see you like Howlin Wolf Great . I have most of his stuff . Keep them coming. Wolf's meet me at the bottom is super side thanks
Great video. Thanks. A lot of the records were new to me, just listening to Vibes in Motion here in Seville, Spain. I think the pianist is Austin Crowe not Cecil Taylor. Great record though. Stay safe.
Thanks for that correction. Walt Dickerson - vibraphone Austin Crowe - piano Ahmed Abdul-Malik (tracks 1 & 2), Henry Grimes (tracks 3-8) - bass Andrew Cyrille - drums
Love them Contemporarys! I was having a hard time finding Out of the Afternoon and was a happy dude when they recently reissued it. Tyner on Impulse....oh yeahhh. The Walt Dickerson sounds interesting. I have been on a Shelly Manne kick for the last year (and am lovin’ it). Insanity is too nice of a word.
Wow, nice Kuzma TT! OK, my two cents: I just discovered "The Prisoner" by Herbie Hancock on the Tone Poet series. Mind blowing music! Cheers and STAY SAFE everyone. We have a long way to go, be we have to get through this so we can get our lives and our society back to where we want it! BTW, I agree 100% with what Ken says!
You had my full and complete attention and enjoyment until 4:17 when you had to go and insult my President! That was 100% unnecessary! You're telling me about feeling good and taking it easy just listening to some great music to get through all this mess with the Covid-19 and there was no need for politics to be brought into it whatsoever! I never watched one of your videos and I'm never going to watch another one ever again! Regardless of how you feel about President Trump, don't use this time with this deadly virus and don't use great and wonderful music and the theme of having a good time and just taking it easy as a political platform against my President Donald Trump! That's insane! I love music and I love jazz music. There is no better Jazz album in the world better than Dave Brubeck Quartet-Time Out, with Miles Davis-Kind of Blue coming in at a close second. To me these two albums are the two greatest jazz albums ever to be recorded. They would be the jazz albums that I would play to feel good during these uncertain times. But I will be damned if I will continue to watch your video if you have to throw insults in and use this so-called feel good video as a political platform to insult President Donald Trump! Now, go have fun and enjoy you're liberal self!
I was looking for some new jazz recordings to help pass the time while I am home. I do not need your crazy liberal political commentary. Half of the U.S. may think like you, but half don't. Why piss off half of the people, even if you think that they can't possibly be as smart as you.

Stay safe in Australia, Paul. Thank you.
i always love your insight and thoughtful details behind each LP. thanks, ken!

Excellent call on the Frank Morgan LP. Wasn't familiar with him. That's about to change.
👽🖖🎷"Na-nu"
@@vcp93 You should. That album has Cedar Walton, Ray Brown & Billy Higgins.
Very cool list. Was just listening to “moanin’ in the moonlight” earlier this week. Loved seeing the different labels spinning. Thanks, Ken!

You're look'n good Ken. Keep healthy and keep the vids coming and I'll keep watching. Stay safe Sir.
Thanks Ken, yours are the videos I seek out first as a jazz and vinyl lover.
Will Gray thank you very much will
I’m a Carmen Mcrae fan.. I think her body of work is largely overlooked. Please do an episode on her.
Rick G I agree with you 1000%. That’s a great idea. Thank you
My favourite jazz singer by far. A great great performer, she could do whatever she wanted with her beautiful and wonderfully flexible voice.
excellent Ken...as always
Neil Larsen became Leonard Cohen’s touring keyboard man towards the end of his life.
After watching this I thought the Neil Larsen Jungle Fever looked familiar so I looked through my collection & found it. I picked it up a couple months ago at a thrift store for $0.50. Played it for the first time just now & it’s awesome!
Russ Whitt I have a copy of this awesome album I bought new way back then...
Love, love, LOVE the Neil Larsen album. Just ordered a copy from Discogs. Can’t believe good, original copies are still affordable.
Very cool list, you've given me some things to look for! Gotta ask, what is that turntable?? Interesting tonearm there.....
Thanks Ken...hope your well man..this is wonderful..I have a few of these..... thanks for the Roy Haynes tip..
Great video as usual Man !!
Perfect timing, I was just listening to Milestones and Nefertiti.
Good choice my Jazz friend. Two of my favourite Miles albums. I live in UK.
.
Jazz makes everyday a better day thanks for the suggestions
Great video! A reason to hear some of these records again.
The great cotton candy presidency. Light & fluffy and mostly just air.
"... HOT air..." ✌️💩🇺🇲
Boomers. No clue.
Ken way to take our minds off of all of this craziness.
Holy crap! I thought I was the only person who loves that Jungle Fever record. I bought it when it was a new release and I still dig it all these years later.
Drummer Andy Newmark says this is the record enjoyed playing on the most.
Such a fine gift to music lovers at a tough time. I listen to a lot of jazz and blues yet most of these are new to me. Thank you!
Dickerson LP looks very interesting. Grimes is hugely underrated I agree. Cheers,Alex

Ken, I am happy to hear you are doing fine. You certainly look great !
Dig the view from the couch Ken. Joe Henderson made no bad records. Walt Dickerson wax I would love to find. Scarce here.
Can you have one episode for jazz fusion? Your favorite albums, etc. I would really like to hear your voice
Glad you are doing well in nyc, love to watch you video’s, grtz from the netherlands
François Du Nord I hope you and yours are well François
Thank you. Quite the selection.
a very eclectic mix of great music a few titles i had not heard of but hope i can find them! Cheers!
Great to see you’re well. Have 4 of what you talked about Ken so it’s those I’m reaching for after a good shot of Jack.
Stay healthy everyone 😎
Great stuff, dankeschön.
Neil Larsen! Yeah, so glad to see you dig this one too.

What a sweet thing to say. Thank you very much

@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 its a pity. I was really looking forward to hearing Cecil Taylor in this context.
Thank you

I'm using my time cleaning and listening to my jazz collection especially the ones recorded in Newport
McCoy Tyner, May you Rest In Peace.
Willie Weeks! Remember his stint with the Doobie Brothers.
I like your vinyl collection I want to get in to jazz music

“Workout”is from 1960 indeed...which version is better tho, the original stereo or the 2005 mono remaster? :-)
Can I add a record by Claus Ogerman and Michael Brecker.
It's called City Scape, incredible playing.
Hope you all are keeping safe!
Great record
The coolest item on the list was the advice to follow the cdc and DR. Fauci... And not the president.
Great video, but Wolf did not write Spoonful, Willie Dixon did.....
Groovy.
well at least I have some of these
haha
WHY ARE WE SCREAMING ???
Great list Ken you just have to change the title "14 JAZZ and 1 BLUES... to survive...."
How about "The Cure" - Keith Jarrett?
I dont' know that one. Solo piano? Great idea!
@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette - Live at Town Hall, New York on ECM.

I wonder if Toby ever threw out an Obama insult out of context? I know I did. It happens, get over it. Jazz is more important.
His anti-Trump comments didn't be well, did they? Biden''s a whole lot worse.
Love the selection ken...also the comment about potus!
