- CNN contributor and former Lt. Gov. of Georgia Geoff Duncan, who served as witness in the Fulton County grand jury investigation, has a message for the Republican Party after the fourth indictment of former President Donald Trump. #CNN #News
Just for the record, if I had 4 indictments, I'd be sitting in jail with an unaffordable bond.

The intriguing part of this is that when convicted in Georgia, trump must serve his time in prison BEFORE he can be eligible for a pardon, according to current Georgia Law. A state pardon takes time and the convicted has to show positives while in prison, whereas a Presidential pardon is immediate. When convicted of Federal crimes, even if he wins the POTUS he can try to self-pardon. That self-pardon would be contested, most likely all the way up to the SCOTUS. Not one of the Justices could/would side with trump because in doing so would make trump an autocrat. That kind of decision would mean that the POTUS is above the Law and superior to it’s equal branches of Government. So, at this point we may indeed have our first felon POTUS sitting in prison. An unprecedented impeachment process would likely ensue because if he is a prisoner, he cannot reasonably do his job without a phone, computer, travel, etc. He may get some special treatment, however, prison is a hard life. As he is 77 years old, and at that age, even a 5 years sentence is basically a death sentence. Very sad for our Democracy.

That does bring up part of the harm in not prosecuting white collar criminals, offering sealed plea deals without any incarceration, etc. If we let oligarchs have their own tier of the justice system, inevitably some of them will do more and more damage. In actuality, the outcome of the election will be decided by whether or not these indictments fail. If they do? Trump will win the election. Biden's national support is down to 20% and stands no chance to emerge the winner no matter how much ballot harvesting is used.

This Republican is living in the real world. No one really wants that party to destroy itself because choice in any way shape and form is good for our country . I'm a progressive independent who's family in the past voted straight ticket Democrat . When I reached the age to vote in 1988 my vote went to Reagan because I believed my family was better off then they were in 1980. In the 1990s work was hard to find and the Republicans were busy fighting a war and jobs were hard to find here at home so in '92 I went blue and voted for Clinton. Through the Democratic policies of that time I was able to have a choice of jobs to provide for myself. Working two jobs that I enjoyed doing, I felt good as an American and I enjoyed my life. To me, Clintons personal problems near the end of his term were not important to me as was the economy. Being able to make money and spend it is what I believe most Americans want. The Republicans are not very good gardeners because they refuse to shower their beautiful plants with water. Know what I mean? If this keeps up, no matter what party is in power, we are all going to be at each other's necks for a long time coming. We need to reach out to each other and say we're sorry . Because if we don't heal right now, here today, we will die as individuals. That's life. That's all it is. NOW, what are we going to do?
I am a liberal Democrat who is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. And, even I am impressed by what Georgia Governor Geoff Duncan said in this interview and he has my respect for his honesty too. And, Duncan is absolutely right about the Republican Party along with the Republican presidential candidates currently running for the White House. If they make it all about Donald Trump, his court cases, what Trump says in public and their fears of Trump, the Republican Party will go down in flames. And they will have no one to blame but themselves.

After 40 years a Lincoln Republican I left the party 7 years ago because of trump. I would love to see healing and more agreeing to disagree so America can get through this rough patch. But CNN just let his false Republican talking points about the alleged failures of the Biden Administration go unchallenged. Inflation lower than any other G-7 country, unemployment the lowest in decades, rising real wages. Insulin finally affordable for millions more Americans. Infrastructure investments that are working so well, the Republicans who voted against the legislation are taking credit for it. And there is no "open border", that is just made up crap.
To me it's refreshing to hear him speak the truth. And part of what he said was true: Trump and the others will get a fair trial, and if they are acquitted, everyone can move on. That's how our justice system, including Georgia, is supposed to work.
I love Mr. Duncan!!💯❤ He is a man if integrity, honor and objectivism.

I have always been called a leftist, labeled that by right wing people just for questioning their logic. However, This man and several other guests that are right wing are saying things I fully agree with. This mans points are logical. Its whats best for the party and its also whats best for the country. I respect that not out of spite but legitimately respect when anyone uses their brain and puts bias aside. Thats a leader, not a follower.

I don't believe any poll that says Rump is that popular. Who are these people they're polling? We saw in the midterms how off the polling can be.
I can imagine they're asking the same people again and again for aome technical reason.
Someone pointed out that polling is lagged. The stories go up 24x7 and the most recent polls are included in those stories, but those polls were taken days/weeks before and talk to people who may not yet have taken in the news from even that point in time (slow spillage into their news silos).
So we, on our own, have to note the polls in like 2 weeks to get an idea about how much this impacts things.

I’ve had it with moderators that default to polls that at best lag behind the growth and development dynamic for the country that we need to embrace to move forward. Polls are like old bad habits that need to be understood for what they are.
I was formerly an independent, but since Trump, I'm now a moderate democrat. I may not agree with all his policies, and may not vote for him, but I wouldn't mind seeing Geoff run for president.
I applaud Mr Duncan for standing up to the Republican party and telling it like it is. He espouses leadership qualities that far surpass the current crop of power hungry clowns.
