Just in case you didn't realize, that was actually the second time Ven’s heart found refuge with Sora. The first time was after the darkness was extracted from it by Xehanort. Sora, as a newborn heart, reached out to Ven and healed the fracture. That was the voice in the prologue at the beginning of the game when Xehanort left Ven on Destiny Island assuming that he would never regain consciousness. Sora, for whatever reason has a heart that connects to anyone whose heart is hurting or vulnerable. He did the same for Kairi when she was separated from her body the night Destiny Islands was swallowed by darkness.
In Kairi's case it was just the spell Aqua put on her + ofc, Sora's nature to help others.
We still have to see if Sora is somehow special for all those crazy things
So as promised explanation as it’s not always clear to people at this stage:
When Ventus and Vanitas were separated Vens heart began to disappear however he was saved when he connected to a new born heart when Xehanort brought him to Destiny Island, that newborn heart was Sora’s which stopped Vens heart from being destroyed. At the end of Vens chapter he is falling into darkness and you hear him say “This place, so warm. I remember now. This is your heart.” Which leads into the conversation with Sora at the end here as Ven back in darkness is guided back to Sora.
Now this connects directly to KH2, Roxas looks like Ven because when Sora became a heartless in KH1 his Nobody was created however because Vens hearts rests within Sora his Nobody took on Ventus’ form rather than Sora’s. The reason both Sora and Roxas can dual wield Keyblades is because both have access to Sora’s Keyblade but due to Ven being with Sora they also have access to his. And as you noticed both Roxas and Ven share the same voice actor because Ven is with Sora he is connected to Roxas as well. Now as you saw Riku was given a Keyblade through Terra’s ceremony and as you saw in KH2 Kairi can also use a keyblade (unlike the other princesses of heart) because when she was saved by Aqua she touched Aquas keyblade so accidentally got access to a Keyblade. Sora is slightly different and it’s speculated that due to his and Vens hearts connecting he gained access that way however this conflicts per the narrative that Sora was simply chosen as the Keyblades master.
Now the darker side Vanitas, when Vanitas was created he had no real form just the body and mask however because he is connected to Ventus when Sora’s heart saved Ven this also connected Sora to Vanitas through Ven (almost the reverse of Roxas’ connection to Ven). This is why Vanitas would take on the form of an older Sora because like Roxas his form was affected by the connection to Sora, it’s also why Vanitas shares the same VA as Sora.
There is more to both Ventus and Vanitas however you would need to watch all of Kingdom hearts Union X and really play KH3 to avoid it being a spoiler.
The conflit with Sora being THE keyblade master is due to a mistranslation. In japanese, Leon said that he is A keyblade master. And he is called like that a lot in kh1 because he was like the only keyblade wielder that could save the worlds (Mickey being in the realm of darkness).
It always makes me laugh that a little mistranslation can cause such confusion 😂
You thought Aqua was the Kairi parallel, but surprise, she's the Sora! And Ven is the sleeping Disney princess lol. But now you might see why Roxas looks like Ven, why Vanitas looked like Sora, and just what Xemnas, as "Xehanort's" body, really was.
I guess the Final and Secret episodes didn't unlock together. Looks like you would need to collect all stickers and beat 9999 enemies to get it. If you watch a walkthrough of the secret episode, make sure you also watch the video Blank Points, whether before or after. It's highly critical to the story. But a youtube vid of the secret episode should include that, I suspect. So you're not done with BBS yet 😉 And after that I also suggest searching "bbs mysterious figure boss" on youtube and watching the very first result - don't look at other videos just in case of spoilers.
Congrats on beating the Final Episode Jade! As others have mentioned there's also a Secret Episode, which has a super grindy unlock requirement. But as always, here's a bit of extra lore that comes from interviews/etc.: So in 358/2 Days there was the scene when Roxas enters CO and passes out almost immediately. Nomura has stated that it was because he came in such close contact not only to Sora's sleeping body, but also Ven's. He was getting a rush of emotions and memories from both of their hearts and it overwhelmed his body. And in both KH2 and 358/2 Days, Xigbar makes several references to Terra, Aqua, and especially Ven. Remember how Xion has a different appearance to everyone who sees her, and when she attacked Xigbar, we see from his perspective that he sees Ventus when staring at her. And when Sora first encounters him near the beginning of KH2, he tells Sora "That's right, he used to give me the same look." when he glares at him, remembering when Ven was frozen on the ground in the climax. Lastly, one other thing you might have forgotten is that the scene where Ansem the Wise goes and asks the man what his name is and he says Xehanort was actually alluded to in the Ansem Reports in KH2, where he says he found an amnesiac man that was close to death, and took him in as an apprentice. Excited to see the rest of your journey through the series, there's still quite a few games to go lol
14:41 Terra , with the brown hair, was using trinity limit. He was shining a beacon in the darkness. Showing that he was still in there somewhere. And you, understandably , struck him. 😅
You could also join in with him, and shine a light that could deal decent damage to the guardian.
It was a reaction command
So a lot to unpack here:
-Aqua is in the realm of darkness, has been there the whole time
-Ven’s heart is inside of Sora, which (can’t remember if this is theory or not) is why Roxas looks like Ventus his heart went with Roxas when he was created, this is also why Roxas freaked out when Axel brought him to castle oblivion, because he was in such close proximity to Ventus
-Terranort is the Xehanort that we saw in KH2
There’s actually ANOTHER secret episode that’s unlocked after you collect every single sticker for all 3 characters, as well as defeat 9,999 Unversed.
If you don’t want to do any of that, then you need to redo the Final Episode (what you played in this video) on Critical Mode, which is the hardest difficulty in the game.

Kingdom Hearts is the only game where the story is part of the replay value.
“Remember that cutscene from 50 hours ago you didn’t have any context for? Of course you don’t! But it’ll make sense next time you play the game!”
Which is why most players going through the series one at a time all just get lost and give up on understanding the story.
And so the tragic story of the wayfinder trio comes to an end with a very complicated situation. Ven being locked away and Aqua being the only one who know and can free Ven from the castle is now lost in the Realm of Darkness. Now that you know Ventus' heart resides in Sora you can see where Roxas got his appearance when Sora became a heartless. A subtle detail a lot of people I've talked to miss out on is if you remember in 358 Days you see Xion fighting Xigbar on day 353 and he comments towards her "Of all the faces... Why do I look at her and see yours?" and it shows that he sees, not Roxas but Ventus when he looks at Xion, which is confirmed by the outfit he sees being Ventus' clothes.
So now that youve gotten to the ending. I can clear up that
Sora is the one who allows ventus to share his heart which explains why vanitas looks like sora. He was the one at the beginning ventus was talking to and healed vens heart. Now that ventus had his heart leave him sora once again opened his and let ven in. So vens heart is with sora which is why sora can use the keyblade.
Now you see why Ventus and Roxas look like twins :) Man, this ending never fails to make me tear up. Sora is such a sweet, caring boy ♥

Very well done fighting Terranort without going down or using block. Quite impressive you went on an all out offensive against him. That little scene with the Guardian on the room of light you needed to dodge his energy attacks to get close enough to get a reaction command. If you got it, Aqua and Terra will do a light attack to inflict damage on Terranort. Right before the Darkside Hearless' were about to attack Aqua, those two beams of light were Ventus and Terra's Keyblades coming to her aid. It was meant to fill her with hope so she can get out of the realm of darkness. That's not the true ending either. There's more but you need to get some pre qualifications first to get the the secret ending.
Just a small tidbit: only Sora lost his memories in Castle Oblivion, and that was due to Namine's unique ability over Sora's memories due to being Kairi's Nobody.
By "lost to oblivion", it simply means no one will be able to find the Chamber that Ventus is in.
If you recall a cutscene in KH II, right before the 1,000 Heartless fight in Hollow Bastion, we see a hooded Organization member (that we now know to be Xemnas) walk down a LONG winding staircase. There he sits in a throne and says, "It has been too long... friend". He is speaking to Aqua's armor and keyblade. That is a replica of the room Ventus is in.
Xigbar also tells Zexion about that Chamber and that he can hear Xemnas speaking to someone.
Namine doesn't have power only over Sora. Donald and Goofy lost their memories as well. She can mess with anyone's memories.
@ianluzdub only those with a connection to Sora specifically. CoM states she can only affect the memory of Sora and those connected to him. This is because she is technically Sora's Nobody as well as Kairi's.
Otherwise she'd have affected Marluxia's, Axel's, Zexion's, etc. memories.

The secret episode takes more effort to unlock. Hopefully you experience too. It’s a bitter sweet ending across the board, but worth investing. And you likely wanna checkout Re:Coded. It is the most filler entry in the series, but the ending of it in particular is worth taking it a look. And it leads to Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance. Which is the next significant entry that isn’t apart of this collection. Lol

But now we have a bunch of questions answered; what's inside the Chamber of Waking? Ven. Where did Castle Oblivion come from? It used to be the Land of Departure. What was that weird armor and Keyblade in the Chamber of Repose in KH2 that Xemnas referred to as "friend"? It belonged to Aqua. (And many more answers too) BBS was probably the first time were I played these games and had a huge mindblowing reaction. I was also old enough at that point to appreciate the story better, but I think the story itself is also just really really good. But, as is the case with a KH game, more questions always rise up to take the place of the answers. xD
But yes! There is a secret ending. It's a playable ending as well, but just watching a video will absolutely suffice. c: The best parts of that ending are the cutscenes anyway.

Chain of Memories features a Sleight mechanic, essentially moves like Strike Raid and Zantestuken. The remake you watched added Sleights like Holy and Tornado, which didn't reappear until this game (Minnie notwithstanding).
They appeared because Ven's Heart resonated with Sora. Quake seems to break this, but could be explained by Linking with Terra.
That bit when Aqua was sent to another dimension had a hidden move you could have started with Square (you could briefly see a prompt before you attacked Terra). It added context to the following scene where Terra/Xehanort pulls the Keyblade on themselves.
Well, at least some of your questions now have answers. Like how castle oblivion first got created and whose heart that Ventus has joined. And I’m just going to say the obvious because it’s so simple, and everyone knows this. Sora was will always be the main character, he always is. In every KH game, something or someone always connects to him. Which I find very fascinating when I first witnessed all the gameplays for the first time.
Hiya jade, the final fight against Terranort was real intense, great job.
As others are saying there is a secret ending and secret episode which would take too long to unlock on standard mode so I'd recommend simply watching the cutscenes.
The secret ending is called "Blank Points". As for the secret episode, looking up Birth by Sleep Secret Episode would work.
That is right, the brand new heart that connected with Ventus in the beginning was the heart of a baby Sora who had just been born. The light of his newly born heart helped heal Ven who was on the verge of death, and that connection had the side effect of giving Vanitas Sora's face.
At the end, Sora felt the cry of Ven's damaged heart and gladly welcomed Ven's heart to take refuge within his. Hearts are a really mysterious concept in kingdom hearts. ❤ but I love how even as a 4 year old boy at the end of BBS he is already a person who is willing to help others without question

Remember in KH2, Xemnas walking down those long spiral walkway and at the end, speaks to his "friend", yes that Aqua's Armour. Ok now you seen this Episode. The reason why Roxas looks like Ventus is because when Sora sacrificed himself in KH1, he had both Ventus and Kairi's Inside and that why's Roxas looks like Ventus and why Naminé was created. Normally Princesses of heart doesn't have any darkness in they hearts, so it's impossible to create nobodies of them, but since Kairi was inside Sora's heart, that's how Naminé was created. Now you know hehe. yes that's why Vanitas looks like Sora. Remember in the beginning of the game, Ventus joins hearts with a young heart to heal his own? That's was newly born Sora. Hehe Now time for the secret Episode reaction, a simple UA-cam search of the walkthrough will do. Trust me very important cutscenes on it. Just type "Birth By Sleep Secret Episode" and first video should be the one you should watch and react to. It's around 30 mins long. Enjoy!

Ventus broken heart first took shelter inside Sora when master xehanort abandoned him in a comatose state after splitting him into two - which is why vanitas look like sora. And the second time, after literally sacrifocing himself destroying vanitas - a part of himself - he found once again haven in sora - influencing roxas appearance and his ability to feel emotions since after all - at the time of.his creation sora literally had two hearts in the same body!

Vanitas isn't a part of ventus. He is one of 13 ancient darknesses.
so if u remember in the beginning of the game when vens heart was fracture another heart jopined with his to repair vens heart, now that ven completley lost his heart and it found its way to sora .....interesting that the part of vens heart tha became vanitas wich looks like sora was repaired by sora who looks like vanitas......and when vens heart was completley lost it made its way to sora.....then later kairis heart was lost and found its way to sora so sora had 3 hearts in kh1 his own, ventus, and kairi ....but when sora freed kairis heart at the end of kh1 and he became an heartless vens heart somehow wasnt freed like kairis and thats why roxas soras nobody looks like ven because when sora became a heartless vens heart was still inside him make roxas take vens appearence even though he is soras nobody , also riku was bequeathed the keyblade from teraa thats why riku is a keyblade weilder and aqua formed a bond wich somehow is why kairi weilds a keyblade at the end of kh2 wich looks the same as aquas keyblade she gets after meeting young kairi and sora can weild a keyblade because vens heart is inside him and ven weilds a keyblade
And this is why Xehanort looks like Terra all through kingdom hearts2 and why, ansem the wise said that xehanort appeared to him as a young man he had to Nurse back to health- kind of makes you wanna go back and look at those cut scenes from the game to see if there are any or even know resemblances
