awesome x excellente. i always wanted to say you beloved Patti, 'you saved my teenagehood' when i heard your words i felt i belonged somewhere. it take me 44 years to wake up : ) bless up! from the most easterly part of gondwana land they call it australia last 200 years x
Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son? Oh, where have you been, my darling young one? I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what did you see, my darling young one? I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin' I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin' I saw a white ladder all covered with water I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son? And what did you hear, my darling young one? I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin' Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin' Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son? Who did you meet, my darling young one? I met a young child beside a dead pony I met a white man who walked a black dog I met a young woman whose body was burning I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow I met one man who was wounded in love I met another man who was wounded with hatred And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall Oh, what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young one? I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin' I'll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest Where the people are many and their hands are all empty Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison Where the executioner's face is always well-hidden Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten Where black is the color, where none is the number And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin' But I'll know my song well before I start singin' And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall
Thanks for writing the lyrics down. Every single verse gets me all tearful. Bob is a genius isn't he? I dread the day when he is no longer with us. Perish the thought! He is such a special man. Glad that Patti got to sing it and I wish I could have been there when she did.
If Bob Dylan could not have been there to perform this immortal song, Patti Smith would be my next choice. She connects perfectly to the pathos this song is driven to. I agree with you Lindsay Cohen, Dylan deserves the oft given but rarely earned accolade of genius.
She could not have done so intentionally, but her stumbling over some of the lyrics combined with the urgency of her voice, actually draws in the listener so that all of the lyrics seem more meaningful and vivid.
Dylan, as everybody knows, borrowed the traditional melody of the Childe ballad "Lord Randall", but elevated it to a wholly original (and brilliant) work of Art. Patti's voice adds even more emotional resonance, it's tough not to cry as she sings this, regardless of version - there's so much relevance to Today and to our uncertain future.
Es duro, esta bellísima voz, bellísima interpretación del maestro, maestro de grandes intérpretes. Letras de premio Nobel y príncipe de Asturias, poeta inmejorable. Más se le debería reconocer.
I feel exactly the same Marcel ..... I only discovered it 3 nights ago and I love it. I shed tears every time I listen to it. It is such a beautiful, meaningful song, written by the great Bob Dylan and sang by the lovely Patti Smith. Two of the best.

the humanity she expressed at the nobel ceremony only added to the moment, more real...The most powerful perfprmance I ever heard
@AllSeeingEye ofGod I would say that may be responsible for her recent promotion of the "vaccine"; breaks my heart
That was an incredibly affecting moment, so disarming in her openness and vulnerability.
I love her version - even with the forgotten parts. Her voice has so many feelings you can almost touch it
Yeah. It's so emotional ! Love it !
Demasiado emocional😭
Dan ganas de abrazarla y llorar con ella!!!
Oh, please bring the forgotten words back. That part is so emotional and special and real. It only heightens the performance
the most moving rendition of dylan's song. it touches places inside you that you didn't know were there. bravo, patti smith!
I just lost my young son and play this song everyday.
I'm so terribly sorry. I hope your sorrow will somehow be lessened by listening to this song. All the best to you.
I'm so sorry.May your son's spirit and memory live forever in your heart. May his light strengthen you going forward.
God bless you. God bless you.
this makes me cry everytime. she's perfect for this song. Fabulous.
Super great! She is singing and crying at the same time.
Awesome, what a voice absolutely beautiful
So relevant to today. I did love the way Patti so humbly explained she was nervous
Only love for Patti Smith. No song and no cover are better than this one.
Incredible version! I love Patti!
Wonderful! Both versions. Bob Dylan must have smiled when hearing this, it's a magic song with lyrics that surpasses this world. Magic!
Thank you for providing this version. The world needs to hear it!
She has the same emotional power, wisdom and tenderness as Bob Dylan, very few musicians have this.
this should be everywhere!!!!
such beauty such love such deep emotion to cry out the lyrics of the bay that's bleeding how could you not shed tears the soul of the lost humanity

Patti Smith et Bob Dylan ; que du bonheur !
Thanks for this edited song, its an excellent work..
Great one for a music Queen 👑
You're a Godsend, thank you!
i was hoping that someone would create a version without the forgotten lyrics part. this song should be on the radio or something.
i don't understand you, perfection mostly is boring. This performance was humane and touching
I love the original, but I also wanted to be able to listen to the song continuously without the music stopping.
Oh, i see, from your view......thank's for answer me
Indeed.
Very cool, great edit! Thanks for sharing! Genius.
She could not have done so intentionally, but her stumbling over some of the lyrics combined with the urgency of her voice, actually draws in the listener so that all of the lyrics seem more meaningful and vivid.
Thank you very much! this song make me cry. Wonderfull. I live it. it´s the better cover of this song!!!
Pati, generacije nas koji smo te voljeli, nećemo dozvoliti da umreš !!❤
This is very good thank you sharing

Linda interpretação ela é muito boa parabéns
No, many of us like the emotional and real side. Edit unto yourselves and for your radios or whatever. Patti is quite real. Only the original will do.
Bravo Iva, Thank You.
