New to DCC here, Ive been a DC user since I was 4 years old, so 34 years in model trains. January 2021 I decided to switch to DCC and what made me buy the ESU Cab Control over NCE or other wireless systems was the price and ease of consisting. You simply create a consist by selecting the locos you want and in the menu you change their direction if needed and that's it! You cant beat having a base station, wireless controller for the price! Also what turned me on was the Android based system, WIFI, and big motorized wheel for speed and endless support on their website forums and internet connectivity. Oh did anyone ever mention the base station is capable of supporting 7 AMPS!! I knew nothing about programming DCC CVs and addresses before January 2021. was completely shy to the fact it was a foreign language to me. DC trains you put on the track, energize the block and off to the races. But DCC gives you light and sound controls and multiple trains on the same track. DCC you can program signals and turnouts easier. I now acknowledge DCC is and has been the future of model railroading for almost 30 years. If you are getting into the hobby, the ESU Cab Control is more than enough throttle to start! If I lost mine or it were to go missing I would buy one again in a heartbeat.
Sounds as though you might have a surplus Cab Controller ICU. I use them in battery cars and wire the DCC to locomotve decoders on my garden railroad. I could use an another ICU but I don't need another mobile. Might you be wiling to part with the ICU?
Saludos !!
I purchased a command station and was wondering if you know can you use the lnet converter and hook it up to digitrax ds74 to change board id? I have two ds74 and can't use the second with out changing board id. I was just seeing if you could without me purchasing a digitrax controller.
Does the Mobile unit, when connected to the ESU CabControl unit allow programming on the main, separate from the ECOS system? In my mobile unit/CabControl with original firmware, it does not allow that option. I'm waiting to decide whether to update, as other than that, it all works quite nicely for me.
I think that system is one of the nicer ones. But while I know it's a specialty hobby, it still irks me that command systems are typically very expensive and yet seem to be mostly 20+ year old technology. Enough ranting for today. 😉
The ecos 50200 is 600 usd and the cab control is 400. Id gladly pay it again rather than use MRC, NCE, or Digitrax. They are decades behind this system.
@@brianroper5626 after doing factory reset and updating the esu apps on computer the only thing I did was add the wifi password dont touch a single other thing and it will run snappy

It does, I was doing this the past weekend I only tested on the main but it worked fine
I heard you can have access to UA-cam on the esu mobile control 2
Probably can but you wont want to. Battery life is bad enough

@@RodimusPrime have you tested those with non ESU decoders? I’m one who’ll probably be running a mix of decoders
@@CentralJerseyRailfan its dcc it runs any decoder
its $150 i have two and never had a problem with it. im not sure what you problem .
How do you like the control 2
I had one but sold it on a few years back ..
I never use it, new tcs throttle is light years better
@@RodimusPrime yeah I thought it was way over priced..and the battery did not last..
It was like a very old smart phone tech...
@@RodimusPrime Which TCS throttle are you referring to and why do you think it's better than the Mobile Control 2?
Good tips. How do you delete the apps that are already on the system?
Factory reset
@@RodimusPrime Thanks. Sorry if I wasn't clear I meant the built in apps, or did you just leave them alone?

@@RodimusPrime OK thanks for your help. I have noticed a speeed improvement and by not signing in to Google, this helps too.
