  • Hello everyone and welcome to another video from Heavy Mining Equipment. In today's video, you will see the Komatsu D375A-8 bulldozer towing and the Caterpillar 18M3 motor grader supporting the Atlas Copco D60 surface drill rig. Due to an engine failure, the drill rig is unable to move on its own, so the bulldozer and grader had to tow or support it. The challenging factor was the rain that made the road slippery, posing a risk of the dump truck slipping. Enjoy the video.

I started out with Garder Denver and Chacago Pleumatic air-tracks. Usually they had a GardenDenver drill and a CP compresser or the other way around. GardenerDenver had Cat engines and CP had GM/Detrout and the drill usually pulled the compressors. Then came Furacawa and all was different. Hard road but those big trucks would pack it. Thanks!

I remember when I started, there were old and large Bucyrus-Erie 60-R rotary blasthole drills, now we have Atlas Copco rotary blasthole drills and Epiroc. Boy, I can tell you that those Bucyruses were giants.

@@HeavyMiningEquipment I've seen those but years ago the track drills did most everything but the big jobs like Bucyrus were in quarries where the big holes were needed. This one here a hundred thousand ton shot will last 2 weeks max and they have to shoot at 12 on the 2nd friday or they'll be out of shot rock by 2. I got to clean up the floor after every shot with the 980 or the 115.

A lowboy would have been a much better choice. Quicker, easier, and cheaper.

Yeah, I know, but the road is too steep and slippery for the trailer.
