LesleytheBirdNerd you’re the cutest bird in North America 😉🥰
Bushtit?
I agree with all of them
Cute little wrens?
@@prshr6145 vvvvvbvbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb0
Waxwings are adorable too! Especially when they're drunk from fermenting fruit, or a pair passing a gift back and forth during courtship.
Can't disagree with any of your picks, they are all adorably cute. I would increase to "Top 12..." and add the Carolina Wren and the Tufted Titmouse. Your commentary was top-notch also. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a bunch :) I have to be honest, I'm regretful for not mentioning the titmouse. I really think it should have been in here but it was so hard to pick a top ten lol.
Loved your list, & I agree with creatorwise about adding the Carolina Wren & tufted titmouse - great birds on the adorableness factor.
One more awesome bird is the whip-poor-will. Their song is so very loud for their rather small, inconspicuous bodies - a really notable song. They stay hidden, so all most folks know of them is their song.
~♥~
I like the owls
Yup, the Tufted Titmouse is my favorite cutie!
creatorwise good additions! Love them both.
I think the titmouse is one of the cutest! Honorable mention, please!!
Agreed. Who can resist those cartoon eyes?
Awe! I totally agree! I love seeing them!
Totally agree
I concur!!!
Luck Yeti apparently they're old as well. Like one of the first of our modern birds.
I saw my first Kinglet about few months ago, and yes it was very cute, but my #1 will always be the Chickadee!
My mother called Juncos "milk birds' because she thought they looked like they'd been sitting in a saucer of milk.
And i have a friend who says she thinks nuthatches sound like a small rubber duck being stepped on.
Interesting about what your mother would call juncos. It really does look that way too. also, funny about your friends take on what nuthatches sound like, lol. :)
And I found out my friend describes nuthatches that way when we were emailing back and forth. She was telling me about a bird she hand fed and couldn't remember what it was. She described its call and from that I told her it was a nuthatch.
Called?
Thanks Mom! I now have a great way to both distinguish & remember their name! :)
This was great! The best are the Kinglets! I was blessed to help one. She hit the window in my sunroom and crashed on to a table right in front of me. She took a hard hit and even damaged her beak. I got her and brought her in and held her, she was shaking and panting so badly it made me cry. All the. birds flew off when she hit. Then one returned sat still on the suet cage and stared at me helping her. When she moved around I would walk her outside to see if she was ready to fly away. Eventually she perched on my finger, out we'd go but she didn't fly away. The whole process took about an hour. When she was ready she looked at me and flew up to her mate. Now, im assuming she was a she bc of coloring. You cant miss the yellow on the males. What could have been a tragedy turned into a giant blessing!
I love all of them, but my favorite bird is the Carolina Wren!
Can always count on chickadees and junkos to cheer you up. That chickadees will eat from your hand is especially endearing. 💕
This is one of the best videos I've ever SEEN! My favorite parts are when you put the sounds they make in after talking about them.
As a fly fisherman I vote for the Water Ouzel or Dipper. It's always nice when one comes by to keep me company. The way they bob and dip is definitely cute. I love how they go under water to find nymphs. No complain with any of your choices. I'm sure everyone has an additional entry.
Thank you for your videos. I just found your channel and glad I did. UA-cam is great. Thanks
That is one of my favorites too!
As a kid watching Ouzels fascinating behaviour creekside while fishing with my Dad, I realized how different birds could be. In those days Varied Thrush was my favourite call but the Ouzel was my favourite companion.
Agree with the dipper! They are fascinating!
I agree also...When im in the river swinging a fly through a run, I spend alot of time watching the american dippers. They are a cute and fascinating bird .Amazing how they walk under water picking up the loose salmon eggs.
Love your choices, I would have to include bluebirds , cardinals, and mourning doves as they give me so much pleasure in my yard.
Lesley is such a doll. I could listen to her chat about birds all day.
I was waiting for the Tufted Titmouse. I'm bummed it wasn't up there. They're cute as all get out.
I am glad u picked the Ruby Crowned Kinglet as the cutest!
I agree with all of your super cute birds, Leslie! Someone just below mentioned the Carolina Wren. This was my pick for #1 because it is the little bird with a big voice! They are curious and love to hop along the railings around houses. One hopped outside my kitchen window just the other day and looked in at me! They're so cute with their big bills, little bodies, and short stubby tails.
After that I would say Sandpipers because of how they run away from the waves and then run back on the beach. They are so cute!
And Woodcocks are another curious bird. I had one that kept trying to check out my garage while I was in it! It was checking out my yard and finally made its way back to the brush where they nest. They're so cute with their striped and specked feathers and enormously long bills! It's fun to watch them stick their long bills into the ground when they're feeding!
I love the Chickadees and the Titmice. The baby finches are cute too. Most of the birds you mentioned I never heard of but they were adorable.
Bluebird is cutest and one I can't remember the name but rare and use to see in wabaso beach. Very colorful.oh yesss, the painted bunting
More of a beautiful bird like the blue jay or oriole
Definition of "Cute" ...
Half an ounce of courage wrapped up in feathers...
😄😄😄
My niece saved a Hummingbird - featherless & helplessly tiny...
her vet came up with special nutritional wet food recipe... this little guy wld land on your shoulder & snuggle into your neck...the absolute thrill of this interaction was best muti in the world! She released him but kept returning out of nowhere - with his mate who watched this "madman" of hers interact with these humans... was hilarious in so many ways...all saved rescues were released and most returned for visits... Just shows we humans were created to be CARETAKERS of these sentient beings... for their good and ours too...
I loved your choices and agree they all belong on the list. One of my favorites is the Black Phoebe, because I've been able to watch them. I love their chirp and their cute hopping.
Doris Diaz they are adorable!
Love phoebes !! ❤️❤️
Also they flutter and hover and make cute squeaking noises.
They are so friendly and cute!
Ahh I live for Parakeets, yes common, but their stripes are so unique, and their colors are so soft and beautiful!
I love the Black capped Chickadee, Nuthatch, and GoldenFinch. How you handle feed the birds I’ll never know!
Love all your picks and would also give an honourable mention to the killdeer! Their 'broken wing' act is so smart and cute. They love the fence rows between our cow pastures!
They're so loud lol
Barred owls are the cutest. They are such derpy little balls of fluff, and even their hooting is cute.
Lesley your beautiful, and so are the birds. Thanks for sharing.....
Cardinals and cedar wax-wings too! Love chickadees tho
I had a rough day and your video brought a smile to my face. Thank you :)
2 years after you posted your comment we're in the pandemic and bird videos are just what the doctor ordered:)
I hope you're having better days 🙂
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Gray Catbird. They may not be the most colorful birds, but I think they're up there on the cute list, especially when they mew.
Until they mew foe 8 hours non stop
Until they do that for 8 hours on end and you're outside mowing your lawn! XD.
TheEmperorOfWei I get them all over the place in spring..I remember the first time I watched one actually sing and was stunned at the beauty and complexity..then it paused, looked at me, and "mew"..smh, "go back to the other song".."mew".."jerk".
Yeah. I would have to put Catbirds as an Honorable Mention on my list. I also like how shy they are. It’s like finding someone sing to his or herself and watch them get embarrassed when they realize they’ve been watched.
Yes Catbirds are so adorable personality wise we have had them returning year after year for Suet and once we know they are back we put out Jelly and fresh fruit. They especially love fresh fruit and once they see me outside they come flying to the feeder. Sadly a damn felix domesticus killed one today or sometime since I had checked on them yesterday.... poor little cuties T_T
I love piping plovers. Once I saw one on the shores of Lake Michigan. So cute!
I see the kinglets in the spring super cute i love those guys :)
Cuteness overload! Love them all! Thanks for sharing!
Your love for these birds clearly comes across in this video. God bless you !
Love your cute list...my favorite cute are waxwings.
Great little stories about great little birds! Thank you.
Daisy....love your tiny picks! sweet little birds make life beautiful🌅
Omg. I love you! This video warmed my heart as did your passion for these cute little birdos!
Dark-eye Juncos are all very cute. I can’t wait to see my little friends, which reminds me its time to make some juice. Love your bird choices, they made me smile. Very cool, had them eating out of your hands. Nice filming job, too. Made my night.
Love your choices (but I would def have added Eastern Bluebird)- my favorite bird call is from the Ruby-crowned Kinglet! It just makes me happy!
I spotted my first golden-crowned kinglets this fall! It was so special and they're definitely one of my favorite birds now.
I love these videos, just discovered them. Relaxing. And your photography skills are top notch.
This video is so pure I could cry
Great list! Not familiar with all of those bird types. I have always been drawn to the cardinal, with it’s looks and song. Thanks for sharing.
I love your channel. I watch it all the time with a great pleasure. Thanks for showing us those little marvels.
I just love the gold finch. They are so pretty.
Lola Thomas my fav too!
And when they fly, it looks like they're on a roller coaster!
What a great list! I never knew about the Kinglet until today. Being a prairie girl, I'd have left out the shorebirds and would have Sparrows, Barnswallows, Cooper's Hawks, or Screech Owls.
I find birds so cute, hardworking and so adorable. So fluffy with dainty feet.
Thank you Lesley. I am enjoying and learning more about these adorable birds, thanks to you
Tufted titmouse is my pick for cutest bird. The white ring around the eyes makes their eyes look big and the tuft reminds me of my cockatiel.
Great list! Enjoyed your choices! For me I would add to the list: Bluejays, Cardinals, Barred owls, Eastern Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, and orioles! It amazes me how you are able to get the birds to eat from your hand, what a neat thing to experience!
Another thing about Juncos that's super adorable: when I lived in an apartment, I would see them on the deck doing a little "dance" to scrape the snow away and reveal fallen seeds from the feeder. They would do small, short jumps back and forth. Very cute!
Omg loved this! Really enjoyed your take on it. And my fav bird (goldfinch) was in the list so that made me happy. Thx!!
This is the most adorable video I have ever seen THIS IS THE BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE those birds are sooo small and fluffy and so round and most importantly VERYYYYYYYY CUUUUTTEEEEE
The cutest thing is when Lesley says about. Aboot Love it!
Lesley, thanks for informing me of the Dark Eyed Junco.I live in So. Cal., and I see them in my backyard mostly during late fall and winter, and always wondered what kind of bird it was.
I'm a Newfoundlander and watched your videos for awhile but I never knew you lived here aswell!! :) Love our country and especially our island. Great videos
Just found your channel and love it! You are as adorable as the birds you highlight. I've always been nuts about birds too and can't thank you enough for the interesting and informative videos. Hope you are still making them.
My summertime favorite is the Gold Finches hanging on long bags of thistle. I make my own thistle bags using curtain lace...seeds don't fall out like the thistle bags sold in stores. One year I had 20 Gold Finches hanging on to one of the 22 inches long bag, was awesome, I have photos somewhere.
I love the Flicker Wood pecker...their distinctive flying pattern is awesome.
Today I have 2 Downy woodpeckers, 1 male, 1 female...Tons of Nuthatches and Chickadee's...nomming on seeds and sunflowers. My neighbor helps me make hanging Birch limb logs with 2" round holes I put nommies inside....I had a huge 18" long Pileated Woodpecker on my log feeder.
We hear the owls, AND i had one swoop right over my head late one night...but I've never seen one.
Last week we had an american bald eagle, swooping down in our big fish pond...he gets a big gold fish, but I'm OK with that, but NOT the Blue HEron who's wiped out nearly all of my big fishies.
Started out with more than 80...now I have less than 20...sigh.... I'm always sharing your website with others...I post a few bird videos...but mine are shamefully novice at best!
Loved that one with music...few weeks back...I play piano...well, try to at least! Tks for your awesome videos!
We're in Boring, OreGONE...base of Mt Hood in Pacific northWET.
I audibly said "YES!" when Kinglets came up as #1, totally agree :D I would have to include a wren, most likely winter/pacific wren. And with their "MEEP" call and huge eyes I'd have to include American Woodcock as well. Thanks for the fun video.
Haha! That's awesome. So glad you liked what I chose for number 1. Kinglets are super awesome! :) I really need to see a wren some day, everyone always mentions about them but I never get to see them :( And you are right the America Woodcock is definitely adorable. Thanks for the awesome comment!
I remember the first Golden-crowned Kinglet I saw up close and personal many years ago. He stuck very close to me for a minute or two. He was so brave and so proper-looking. He reminded me of a busy, but proud little corporal in dress uniform. It seemed like he was showing off his wing bars but the yellow and orange coloring on his crown is what amazed me the most. I couldn't wait to get home and look him up to see what kind of bird he was. Years later, during the first Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas, I discovered a nesting pair. This was supposed to be a rare occurrence in Wisconsin but many others also found them. It was one of the surprising findings that the atlas work uncovered. Wisconsin has a decent population of breeding GCK! The second atlas just wrapped up so it will be interesting to see what that one shows.
What a lovely accompaniment to my morning coffee! Love them all. I've found the Juncos very easily tamed and have been feeding the same pair for a couple of summers. My conure and I like to sit on the veranda before dinner to watch the comings and goings in the yard while we share a few peanuts and they never fail to stop by for their share. They are happy to clean up Scooter's mess (parrots are incredibly wasteful) below my chair and seem quite curious about the bird on my knee. Thanks for sharing and all the best in 2020. Cheers from BC
Carolina Wren! Honestly, I love your list & your videos!!
I could not pick only 10. I have never seen an ugly bird in my life they are all cute and adorable to me. Love your videos. I just discovered your channel a couple of days ago.
Ah!! Totally agree. These are definitely some of my favorites. However I might would add the Pine Warbler. They are so adorable. When I put peanut butter and seed in my suet feeder they are the first to show up. They fly up and sit on a nearby branch waiting for me to leave so they can get their treat. Love your videos!
All delightful and cute!
Great list Lesley! I have to say IMOA chickadees are #1 on the cuteness scale. "Hey Swee-tie!" 😚 - Alli
OMG! I saw the image for your video which drew me in cause I have one of those that has taken a strong liking to my suet cakes in a tree right outside my bathroom window. I love the way they seem "twittery" in their movements. Now I know what they are! Kinglets. I'm in southwest NM and haven't seen one of these until this winter. So dang cute. He's some shade of green/yellow. I can't decide what color he is. I agree! Love all the birds on your list but never experienced those long-legged ones.
I knew the black-capped chickadee had to make this list. A very fitting number 2 spot.
I love your list and your narrative! I agree with a lot of yours. Another favourite of mine are Redpolls.
Great list. Thank you.
I certainly will not disagree! Yep.....cuteness overload. Thanks again for the great footage and info Lesley!
Tears are pouring out of my eyes from the cuteness!!
:) Glad that you enjoyed.
I liked all the bird on your list. I would add house wrens so small and busy love the watch them working around. Really nice channel enjoying all your videos! Happy birding.
That's such a great list, Leslie! Always a pleasure to see you have a new video. Keep up the wonderful work!!
Glad you enjoyed. Thank you for the comment :)
I’m in MD, USA. And one of my favorite birds around here are the tufted titmouse. so precious and they almost post as a group for photos.
Sure appreciate your interesting and kind bird videos with narration! You have a kind voice and I’m glad you appreciate our God’s interesting flighted creatures. Thank you, Leslie!
I love your top 10. Thank you for sharing. I think all birds have their own cuteness. My favorite bird is the Blue Jay.. ❤❤❤
I think American Woodcocks are one of the cutest birds. There “beep” noise along with their funny dance/walk is adorable.
ua-cam.com/video/4Owj52XhoxI/v-deo.html
The Ruby Crowned Kinglets have learned to visit my Hummingbird feeders in the winter....they're adorable....... A few years back we had an albino Junco spend the winter in our neighborhood......she was beautiful, all white with a pinkish beak and legs. Birds friends make the world better!
I had my downy woodpecker loves peanut suet so beautiful .. thank you again
Awesome Top 10 Video. Love your picks. The Nuthatch's are so cool. I call them the upside down guys, because they do go down the trees like no other birds. We can hand feed them and the Chickadees here in Northern Ontario.
Great list...you've developed an interest in me..here in Ottawa Canada we have many forests...i will pay more attention to our feathered friends..thank you
Canadian Martin
I think your list is awesome ! All cuties for sure.. It is hard to narrow it down to just 10 so well done ! : D
Beautiful video, as always! My faves would be. 1. Chickadees, 2. Bushtits, 3. Piping Plovers, 4. American Kestrels, and 5. House Finches. :)
Thanks a bunch! American Kestrels really are adorable. I saw my first one a few years ago, super cute.
Oh yeah, Kestrels for sure!
Elias Zuniga yaass, I was so happy to see someone mention kestrals!
The little song of the chickadee was what raised my curiosity to learn more about them and other birds. At the time I knew NOTHING about birds, and I still don't know a lot, but I spent an hour one morning on youtube going through bird songs trying to figure out what little bird was making that morning song I was hearing at dawn. The Carolina Chickadee was the winner. We were in central Ohio at the time. I am now in Northeast Ohio and while I haven't heard the Carolina Chickadee, I do hear the Black-Capped. Always warms my heart. We put out bird feeders this years and it has brought so much entertainment for our whole family.
Great video! Now this might sound weird, but I had a wonderful experience with a friendly wild turkey where I used to live, and now I think wild turkeys are cute.
I adore all birds. I feed them year round in my backyard enjoying their company. The Saw-whet owls won my heart as the cutest. Chickadees come in a close second because they visit my backyard. Great choices!
Kind of surprised Blue Jays weren't on your list. I know they are on mine.
Lesley, you are wonderful! Delaware has many of these cute birds too!
Lovely! I'm gonna be looking out for Nuthatches and Kinglets now :)
it’s been 2 years have you gotten nuthatches?
Cutest birds, imo: Snow Buntings (so, so kaYOOT!) and Hoary Redpolls. Red breasted Nuthatches and Boreal Chickadees are in my top ten, as well. Great video. Thanks!
My top five:Bluebirds, Nuthatch,tufted titmouse,chickadee,buntings.
great list!! pretty spot on with me too. i might add Brown Creeper, because they are shaped like a croissant with a long bill, the American Bushtit because they are small round and huddle together and the Whiskeyjack because they are fluffy round and friendly
"Spot on", something I like to hear. We built locomotives for the Aussies here in Erie PA and they would send a rep to keep an eye on things. When we would take the loco out on the test track and he was asking us to go through certain tasks, I would here that a lot.
Nice list ! How bout wrens ? They're cute too ,but the list was a good one !!!
When I was in California the stellar jay caught my eye with the cute head movements! Here on east coast there was a private hummingbird reserve that was amazing ! Just to sit and watch was captivating! All your choices were great!
My top 10 cute birds are: 10. Northern Mockingbird 9. Song Sparrow 8. Carolina Wren 7. Tufted Titmouse 6. Hummingbirds 5. American Goldfinch 4. American Robin 3. Blue Jay 2. Northern Cardinal Honorable Mentions: Gray Catbird, Black-Capped Chickadee, Dark-eyed Junco, Red-Bellied and Downy Woodpeckers 1. Mourning Dove
BriannaBird Davis yes! Northern cardinal is high on someone’s list at least, to me they’re soooo damn cute, love their funny songs and pointy hairdo’s!
Definitely. Their whistles and chirps are cute, and when the male and female courtship feed, it looks like they're kissing. It's so adorable! Such spiritual birds.
I love mourning doves too! They are so sweet and gentle, and they look cute.
I mourning doves are so cuteeeeeeeeeee
BriannaBird Davis love this list! I was looking for the mockingbird too!
Agreed! My two faves were your two favorites as well. My nickame has been "ree-kee" (Erika=>riki) mostly because the Ruby-crowned is much like me in personality and voice. My boyfriend actually painted an adorable picture of a RCKI pair for me last Christmas (I can send you a picture - so cute). Also, next month, I am getting a MOCHI tattoo because I am a "mountain chick" and I they are home to me. SO happy you mentioned the "Hey sweetie!" call because I am terribly sick of the cheeseburger and I agree that "hey sweetie!" is more logical of a connection to function and definitely sweeter. I love all you post - thank you!
You only missed one, my husband and my very favorite.... Carolina wren. Very small with a little tale they goes up not out. Such a darling little note and personality that is just as darling. Check him out.
Yes, you have to add the tufted titmouse, and the Carolina wren with its huge call and upturned tail is sooo adorable!!! Love the video!
Chickadees (Especially the mountain chickadee, goodness!!), Juncos, Titmice, Goldfinches, Every single kinglet ever, tree swallows, Kestrels, Merlins,,,,,literally every other bird imaginable
Haha! I agree birds are pretty darn adorable. I love tree swallows. Two summers ago I was able to watch a pair nesting. It was so sweet.
whoa, that's so cool!! There's a wildlife refuge about 20 minutes away from my house that I loveee to visit, and during the winter it is filled to the brim with swallows. The best thing about it is the fact that there's a big walking bridge across the lake with the nest boxes, and I find that swallows are very friendly to begin with, so you can imagine how close they'd let you get. The tree swallows love to sit on the railings, and the young Barn Swallows are always super friendly and just sit on the lilypads underneath the bridge, cheeping away cheerfully. Also, for the past two summers, I've been staying at a super cool summer camp (it's offered for free to children of disabled veterans, aka meeee) right on Lake Erie, so you can imagine all the cool things I got to see there. There were tons of beavers, groundhogs, friendly baby bunnies, owls, bats, eagles, goldfinches and scarlet/summer tanagers etc etc. I even saw a blue bird in the field once by the equestrian center, which I found interesting since there were *loads* of swallows anywhere else closer to the water, mainly barn swallows. They were living everywhere! There was a nest in the roof of the main hall (which kept me occupied when waiting to get signed in lol), another one up in the far corner of the mess hall/"banana building" right along the pathway everyone takes at least twice a day, and I've even heard that there were a few nests inside the "cabents" (cabin tents, they're basically a cemented ground with a wooden frame and roof and fabric flaps) at the boys' camp, since they're much closer to the water than we were. It was super cool being able to monitor the growth of those cuties!
I love the chickadee call
I got to pet tree swallows once.
Agree with all of the above, but for me the House Wren and the Tree Creeper are up there too, specialy the Wren. We had a House Wren in the garden for years, called her Jenny Wren. And a tame
Robin as well. Robins, talk about not caring about their size!
Greatings from Holland, love your work.
Purple Martins and Juncos are my fave! ❤️
Megan Johnson ooh I love the purple martins!!
