  • I never owned a tele, and when I saw this Squier Bullet Telecaster Limited Edition in Surf Green for $119 on sale, I decided to give it a shot. I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the guitar, especially at this price point. Inspires me to play some funk, blues and rock!

I did the fret ends, conditioned the fretboard, and that's all it needed. For $149 it is a very good deal. The build quality is good. Indonesian. 42mm vs 40mm (Affinity) nut width and modern C neck is right on. The pickups sound ceramic, and not bad at all.
Adjust bridge saddles to your liking. I tightened the truss rod on mine just a touch. The fretboard is Indian Laurel, not rosewood. It plays fine, but condition it. Mineral oil is way cheaper than the expensive lemon oil stuff (I don't use anything acidic).
My Surf Green needed the sharp fret ends dressed, I did the $3 method. My brand new butterscotch blonde Bullet Tele barely needs any fret work! Best cheap guitar frets to date. It has a cheap (one piece w/fretboard, not laminated) maple neck and it was set up to a T from the factory.
I have been gigging since 1969. My gig Tele is a Jackson USA Custom Shop. (My work Strat is a Fender Custom Shop.) As to "sustain", it is better than the intermediate guitar player who did this video says. The solid poplar body and hardtail bridge make for plenty of sustain (not from a distortion pedal).
So, yeah. I own two of these now. I am going to upgrade both.It is an excellent beginner guitar, and I like 25.5" scale length, not-wide Fender-style necks period. (Been playing U.S. Strats since 1978.) If you have big fingers, this is easier at the nut end as it is wider at the nut than an Affinity. I have medium hands but play down low a lot and Affinitys are too narrow at the nut. (I own open mic backline Affinitys. Good builds only.)
Note: Play it into a tube amp, and it really sounds good. (It also sounds good into a Champion 20 For accuracy, go straight into a p.a. or line to phones and skip any pedal processing. It will tell you what it sounds like. Sh*t. I should do a video. I already have secrets about this excellent sleeper from Squier. Note #2. Fender lists only black and sunburst in their catalog, so these excellent colors like the Sparkle Red (now up to $209 GC) and Lake Placid Blue may or may not surface in the future. Two thumbs up, and why I have two. YES, there will be some minor work needed to be done - frets. But all cheap guitars are like that.

I walked into a pawn shop yesterday (( just looking to see )) and there hanging on the wall was this very same guitar , (( for $116.00 )) spotless .. ((I gave it a for-ever-home )).
I'm getting ready this weekend to give it a complete dressing & make over.. When I first got it home I plug it in just to see if it even worked ( strings had tarnish on them )) "Boom" it sounded outstanding , even held a fast tuning ... I feel blessed , Plus I really like the color , it just looks really good & that sound takes me back to the old-day's .. I was born in 54" started playing at 12 , Everything is good .!

Change the strings i use 10s and that alone made HUGE difference and oiled fretboard and polished the frets. Omg!!

Just received the one I ordered for my niece's 11th birthday. The action is nice, and the frets are smooth. A unique finish, kinda sky blue/light robin's egg. I'm ordering one for myself asap. I bought an epiphone es 335, used but really nice, but I could have saved about $150 and have been real happy with this one. Heavier than I expected m

I ordered one & had no holes in back like pic & a pain in ass to change strings. Sounded totally different than my sunburst $200 Squier, more like a humbucker, & pickup switch shorts out. But then again, i ordered from GC & they suck anymore! Planned on upgrading anyway, but just sits in corner now till do. Got a Harley Benton for $140+$60 for shipping from Germany to U.S & it was hardly distinguishable from a $750 Mexican Tele, which is basically just a $1,500 with cheaper wood & labor! Was only shipping they use, but got to Nashville in 2 days! So, can you can buy a cheap Squier for $200 that sounds like a $200 guitar, or spend $200 & get a guitar that sounds like a $1,500 guitar! Your choice!

If it walks like a tele talks like a tele squawks like a tele and twangs like a tele then by God it's a freaking tele!
I just got one of these on sale for about 130 bucks, with sparkle red metallic finish. The finish is perfect, it was almost perfectly tuned out of the box the neck is perfect the Frets are almost perfect could use slight polishing. The back of the neck is smooth and not glossy. It certainly is not a baseball bat. I found a sparkle Red Metallic pick guard to replace the white one and it looks fantastic!!!
Even this pickguard came as an exact fit zero tolerance. Playing this through a Champion 20 amp and it's a perfect Fender sound all the way😁👍 260 bucks for both you just can't beat this. This little amp even has built-in effects and halfway decent ones at that😁 and yes it's got some balls too🔊🔊🔊
This rig would be great for a beginner kid or even a pro doing some small gigs, or Mike it through something bigger and you're good to go. Definitely I give it an A++👍👍😇 I even use this amp for my Ibanez mikro bass 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 no problemo

This is a matter of personal preference. If you can, visit a store and see which one you prefer. I personally would recommend a Strat if that is what your guitar heroes play. Many people get a HSS (humbucker - singlecoil - singlecoil) guitar as first guitar for ultimate sound flexibility.

That’s not the bullet. Look at the head. It does say bullet. And the string rigging should connect from the back. Also, this is blue, not surf green. I just had guitar center send me two of the incorrect ones, and now I have to go to my local one to get a correct one. Which I don’t think they’ll have, but we will see. What you have is not a bullet. You have the wrong guitar my friend

The only thing I would agree with you is it doesn't say bullet on the headstock. Mine has a string through body like this one if you watch the whole video you will see the holes in the back Everything is identical to mine. Great sounding guitar. Like it better than my Affinity Telecaster.

    • @sllm2406

That one IS a bullet and you can tell by the lack of the back (ergonomic) cut. And the ticket of course.
