This song managed to surpass the hype, it's absolutely fantastic music and I can't wait to hear more. Really appreciate that they're speaking out against the war as well, I've got even more respect for these guys now!

It is about the War, Judging from the Lyrics atleast... 1984 could be a reference to the famous George Orwell Novel that was banned in the Soviet Union because the Totalitarian Government in the book was based upon Stalinist USSR and it hit too close to home.
The world is so fucked up at the moment that 1984 has become the present I think is what they are getting at.

Metal music needs to be appreciated more. People don't realize that metal music and especially bands like slaughter to prevail are trying to send messages like this. They just put out there in their style. Metal music needs to not be hated because of its sound. It needs to be embraced for the messages we are trying to send to People.

Definitely about the Orwell book 1984. 1989 was the end of the cold war. In 1984 the cold war was arguably at its height. New American nuclear weapons had just been placed in Germany and the UK in 1983 and the number of troops in Europe were lowered. The idea being that If the Soviets invaded western Europe then we'd have no choice but to retreat and launch nuclear weapons at the invaders.
@ 3:13 sh*t is supposed to break and fall apart during this track. You said it yourself “this made me want to break sh*t in my house” lol. The challenge is actually trying to stay seated during this.

1984 references Orwell's masterpiece of a book rather than the actual year and the song is about Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, essentially a war between "brothers" with large parts of the Russian people turning a blind eye to the unspeakable violence and suffering it brought, and the band's opposing stance to it.
