i've never understood why they hype up the power and ability of a protagonist... then have him underperform until there is a reason for him to be angry. THEN and ONLY then does he become a badass. but badasses don't get caught flat footed. badasses don't get caught off in their own head and distracted and slow to react in dangerous situations. baddasses react and make plans and execute those plans quickly. they don't throw power angste fests after something they don't like happens... they just make sure it doesn't happen. if he's badass enough to handle the big baddies with ease then he should be capable of stopping bad shit from happening... BEFORE it happened.
