The person who designed this must be made to write “I am sorry” a million times and post it on the internet. Thank you for saving us!
I would go even further than an apology, they should be fired. So poorly designed. Thanks for this video that helped so much to get this open!
Thanks for the video. Whoever designed these sensors needs some love. 30 minutes later, after using a pry bar, I finally got it but my fingers will never be the same!
You are ABSOLUTELY right… The directions on the back doesn’t explain to the detail on how to actually get to the batteries… Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial … Bless You❣️
Thank you for showing the trick on getting the cover off! My handyperson and I spent an hour struggling unsuccessfully with the three tabs. We even watched another video on how to replace the batteries--that skipped the step of how to get the battery compartment open in the first place! I'm so glad to find your clear demonstration.
We're glad the video was able to help you out with your device!
Thank you. This video helped me to replace the batteries. You saved my time.
I used the plastic bread bag tabs to jam into the 3 tabs. Then I used a small flat head screwdriver to pry open the sides. Thank you the the posters below for these suggestions. They worked for me.
Thanks for the bread tab tip!!! Struggled for 45 min. before this :)
Man, I cannot thank you enough for posting this video! After destroying one motion detector out of sheer frustration, I found this video after giving up trying to open the 2nd and 3rd ones. You've saved me a lot of stress, as well as the amount of money it would've cost me to purchase two new motion sensors. THANK YOU!!
You're very welcome! We're glad it was able to help you out! :)
Thank you so much !! I'm an airplane mechanic and couldn't get the darn thing apart. Lol
I just wanted to add another "thank you" for posting these instructions. As someone else wrote, you are a fine instructor; the video is clear in presentation and complete in content.
Holy Cow!! After an hour of family frustration, i used three knives and one spoon to get it open. Directions on back, yeah right. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! I walked in the room and saw my husband’s frustration at trying to open this for AN HOUR. So, then I just googled the words from the instructions, found your video, and opened it. 😆
Thank you! Based off the directions on the box I could not bet the battery cover open. Got it within second after watching you do it.
GOOD LORD!!!! Thank you 1000 times. I was about to toss this thing out the window.
Thank you so much for this video. I just saved myself a $125 service call from the home security company to change my batteries. Cheers
The three fingers on the top worked for me. Thank you for this video. It helped me keep the swearing 🤬 down!
You saved me hours of frustration. Very high quality video!
thank you…just called support and they were of no help. you are Fantastic!!!!!
OMG,! Thank you! Without this video, I would have called the company. Had a hard time pulling out the battery part but...awesome, perfect instructions. Great job!
This may be an old video but it sure helped me out today - I would not have figured it out on my own. Sometimes calm reassuring instructions that acknowledge 'it isn't as easy as it says it is" ....THANK YOU for the help, worked perfectly!
What they said. Thank you SO much for taking the time to post this. It's seems like a small thing but the frustration level before I found your video was off the charts.
We're so happy this video helped you, Peter!
Thanks a lot! This is a very useful video..after 5 minutes a fighting with the tab i chose to look for a video before i break it. Fortunately your video was there and save me the visit of a technician!
This is an awesome video and presentation. Thank you! Like other viewers here, no way could I get the unit apart. Your video led me to use toothpicks to wedge the 3 tabs open so I was then able to use both hands to get the thing apart. One of the most frustrating yet simple devices I have ever dealt with!
The designer of this gadget must really hate people. Or be conducting a longitudinal study on rage management.
Thank you for all the tips, especially the one about the spring. Used a pen spring to replace the one I (inevitably) lost. We did need to resort to prying to open the darn things, but at least your video warned us that it was no easy task.
agreed. this is impossible to open even with the instructions. I wanted to smash it with a hammer.
It's probably designed to be that way; we don't want unscrupulous individuals removing the batteries.
Super helpful video. Thank you.Even using the three fingers on top method, it wouldn’t budge. Finally went into my kitchen and retrieved 3 toothpicks. I stuck them in (pointy end first) to hold down the tabs (my fingertips will never recover from this). Once those were wedged nice and deep in there, I was able to pry it apart. Turns out a bad battery was to blame for the extra resistance. The acid was gritty and prevented the case from sliding apart. Popping open my other two motion sensors revealed I had replaced the batteries in one of them, but not the other two. The other two had the leaking batteries. Lesson? Replace the batteries in ALL of your motion detectors at the same time. If I had done that when I replaced the one set, I’ll bet the other batteries hadn’t blown out yet. Don’t be lazy; do them all at once. Don’t kill your fingertips; use some toothpicks.
Thanks so much for this video! I also had a very difficult time getting the sensor apart until I watched this. I'll echo the comment about the poor engineering. It should NOT be this difficult to take the sensor apart. Because I had such a hard time with it, I deleted the sensor from my system. Now, I'll add it back in. Also, thanks for the tip regarding testing and the 4 minute delay on unit.
Greg, thank you for your comment, and we're glad the video was able to help you out.
Thanks so much. I had given up and delayed the new batteries for a year. Now it works.
Oh my Lord!!! This thing had me so flippin frustrated!!! Thank you for the explanation!
I had a really hard time opening the unit, my fingers were getting pretty sore.
I managed to open it by holding the bottom tab down by inserting a small flathead screwdriver in place, then I only had to concentrate on the 2 top tabs.
It finally did open this way and I was able to change those batteries!
Thanks for this! I was having a hell of a time trying to open mine.
I followed your instructions precisely, and did, finally, succeed in getting it apart. BUT!! This is without a doubt the hardest battery replacement I have ever done in all my more than 65 gadget-filled years, both the opening and getting the batteries themselves out *and* getting the new ones in. I had to bang one end of each battery with an implement to get them properly inserted; I could not press hard enough with just my hand. Total time, including climbing ladder to retrieve it, wrestling with it using the instructions on the unit, finding better instructions, (thank you!) finding appropriate tools, etc., = nearly an hour. Ridiculous!!!
Thanks for the visual explanation, it took us prying with a knife, but we got it open.
Thank you for this video. It saved us from a complete night of frustration!
Omg this was the worst ever. Finally did it with putting some cardboard box strips holding the locks. Thanks for your video
This worked like a charm thanks!
This was SO helpful. I don't think I could have figured it out by myself. You are a good teacher!
Thanks for the video. Although the the fingers didn't work for me, the bread tab trick from one of the comments did it for me. What a relief!
Thank you. This was driving me mad. Till i discovered your video
Thank you so much!! I thought, there's no way youtube has a video on how to change batteries on these things. No way
Best instructional video i've ever watched
I love you. Thank you. You saved me.
Excellent video. Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks so much for the video. Even after watching the video multiple times and talking to technical support from my alarm company I could not get to the compartment that has the battery. Ultimately I had to use a small screwdriver and wedged in between the sensor compartment (with the battery) and the case to get it to dislodge.
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial. Great teacher. You made it plain and simple.
It was getting personal, thank you for posting this video.
Really clear description - thanks for the extra tips.
Thank you very much! We're glad to help you.
This was simply and useful. Did have to use something to help pry off the battery pack but I was able to change the batteries myself. Thanks!
It is very easy when looking at the instruction how to assemble the GE sensor battery.
great video!! just had to pry with small screwdriver once tabs pressed. came right off. thanks!!
Thank you very much! We're glad to help you.
Thank you! Very helpful
Very well done, thank you. However, I found it pretty hard to indeed. The piece did not want to come off. My husband helped me out for this part. Thanks again!
Thank you for your step wise and very good directions
Thank you for this video. Clearly spoken and great instruction!
I appreciate the video, but it didn’t help me. Nothing worked in trying to pry the front off. In the end I had to use a flathead and exert so much pressure that the device will no longer close properly. I’m really amazed that a professional engineer could design something so poorly. What should take 5 seconds now requires a call to the alarm company. Ridiculous.
Super helpful, THANK YOU
helpful... took me half an hr with various tools to no anvil, lol... This definitely helps
Thanks so much for the video. It was incredibly helpful. That said, this device is junk. The casing was impossible to slide out easily and we darn near broke it. Then the batteries were just as though! I needed a pocket knife to get them out.
THANKS...You help me and I am very happy.
Big thank you !!! Time saver !!!
Perfect video. Thanks so much!
Thanks, I was struggling and this video helped me out a lot.
Thank you, My alarm Center. I Just installed my battery and everything is good. System Ok. Thanks
Thanks for the help!!!
This is a perfect video, but my ADT Alarm is outfitted with interlogix. That's good for me because it's what you are showing, but it still doesn't open. I'm afraid to break it so I guess I'll call the company even if it's out of service.
THANK YOU!!! THIS VIDEO IS SO HELPFUL !!!!
I agree that this is a miserable, poorly designed device that is very difficult to open. A huge THANK YOU for this video that saved me having to pay the alarm company $100 to come open it for me!
Hello, thank you for the video. Could you give me some advice as to why my sensor will not work since I changed batteries.
Mine quit working too since I changed the batteries!
Very helpful. I think I have a different kind but it has given me the idea to replace the battery myself if I can get up high enough on my ladder. Usually I get a company in to do it but that's a waste of money if I can do it. Thanks from the UK. I wonder if mine will open in a similar way. KNowing my luck it will be even harder.
I used dimes and wedged them into the tabs on the top, and use a flat-head screw on top to separate.
Great idea! I had guitar picks laying beside me and used those, perfect!
Thanks two thumbs up
Excellent Video, thank you very much for sharing.
Dillard Alarm Company
Thank you so much. It's not easy with out this video.
Great info, thank you
Thank you for the instructions!
Have little issue, once I do the walk test after 4-5 mins the sensor doesn’t light up. If I move the sensor off the bracket, the first 60 seconds like you mentioned it picks up movement. Can you adjust the sleep mode?
Thank you! Trying to get this device open was driving me nuts.
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Not easy with finger pressure. Made 3 plastic card shims to depress the 3 tabs and pried cover off with plastic knife in side slot. Bled from cuts from sharp center hook. With cover off, used a nail file to round the 4 sharp corners of the sensor body. Also flattened the 3 tabs (2top, 1bottom) in the cover with file. Finally, flattened the center hook. Now cover comes off easy. Used a little scotch tape to hold cover if I took off too much.
Thanks man appriciate 👍
Thanks alot me and my grand pa didnt know how to do untill u hela
Helped i ment
AWESOME THANKS
Thank you
I actually had to use a screw driver to help unseat the tabs on the top then on the bottom because the thing wouldn’t pull apart with finger pressure alone.
Obviously they were laughing after they concocted the locking tabs for these detectors because thieves won’t bother trying to remove the batteries they will just blind them with paint or something like that
TY, Just what I needed. Beep Beep Stopped..
I used the loaf of bread plastic expiry date tabs (as per Travis Gaines comment below) to block the bottom tab and both top tabs (you could also just wedge any semi-firm plastic, or even screw drivers).
Then i wiggled the bottom with a flathead screwdriver and it came out slightly, then i used a fat flathead screwdriver in the side (theres a slit on the left side if the sensor is pointing away from you) to gently wedge it open, and i also pushed on the very big tab on the top before it finally popped open.
Bloody hard though its in so tight, impossible to pull it out just using your hands...it took about 10-15 minutes of messing around and i was worried i might snap something.... Whoever designed this is an idiot lol
So helpfull!!
Thanks for the video
Are this things made by the Ford motors co. 😂😂😂 can’t make it more hard because they couldn’t 😂😂
Thanks! Uninstalling these since we have Ring alarm not
These motions came with so many different types of "AA" batteries on different versions.
The black pin card fell out/broke off and now it is missing. Is there a way I can just order a replacement? What exactly is it called? Any help would be great!
Thanks for the video...the alarm was beeping like crazy I have to cut the line off cuz it's ignore.
I had no problem opening the compartment but where do I find these batteries? I have not been able to find them! HELP!
I'm confused. When I place 2 1.5vAA batteries, it sets off a low battery alert. There was originally one 3.6v lithium battery installed. What are we supposed to use? The leaflet I saw online says one lithium battery, but I cannot find it for the life of me.
This video was helpful but I still could not remove it. those little finger push downs really suck making it almost impossible to open. I finally tried using paper clips to hold them open but they got stuck in the unit. Opened a drawer and found old credit cards and that worked the trick. push one in the bottom and the other in the top to the top portion of the tabs and it releases the tabs from the case.
I shaved down the tabs while still assembled with a sharp pocket knife. I feel the my tabs where too large because as a depressed it i could still see them catching
The guy that I work with put it in upside down now it's jammed in and I can't get it out help me!

what does it mean when it blinks 4 times really fast?
Tha.nk ù so m uch don't ķnoŵ.what we would ĥave done without u😊
Dangit, that's why mine stopped working - the dang spring. I had to take one out of an old pen.
is these wireless sensors
Is it like a camera like can someone see threw it
