Looks nice, but the 2nd loop won’t hold much load. Figure 8 or bowline if your life depends on it.
Yes 2nd loop is not a great idea here, but don't rely on a bowline for your life, the bowline is so good as it ties fast and also because it comes undone easily.
@andrewcarr3650 it's the number one knot for arborists to attach with, so can't be that bad😂😂

Was done with the musac at second wrap
Muzak.
I keep the sound off unless it is a video I think I would gain something by having it on.
Nice knot, annoying music.
Dear friend, thank you for your opinionI
apologize for this, I will try to use better musicI apologize for this, I will try to use better music
Or not. 😂
Try mute if it bothers you.
I don't mind the music at all. I've heard way worse music on many other videos.
Annoying knot also. Just tie a bowline
Looks like a hatchet knot.
You'll need a hatchet to get that thing out.
And sometimes that's what you want. Not all knots are intended to be easy to undo.
@@catsupchutney Rarely. The right knot for the vast majority of situations is one you can reliably tie correctly, that will hold what it needs to hold and that you Can untie without unreasonable struggle. This particular knot probably won't lock up all that tight because there's so much excess wraparound going on. But that's part of why I don't think it's as reliable as a simpler knot could be for the purpose, nor is it anywhere near as time efficient. Lots of people have suggested a bowline for this purpose, and with good reason. I've never seen this knot before, but bowlines really are a part of every day life for people that work at all regularly with ropes or lines, in rigging or securing, whatever.
Good to get a second loop through the eye of the hook. Gives a factor of safety when the rope abrades or takes a shock load.
Wont be much grip on that tail
@@butchphillips873 add some length to the tail and throw a half hitch around the load. Still going to be fun to untie though.
It's a knot I use often and three turns is enough. I use it on dinghy painters and they stay good forever
Thank you, my good friend, for expressing your opinion about my video, I welcome your opinion, thank you kind friend
beautiful ❤
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
So... How easy is it to untie once all that tension is there with the loops wrapped around your lead line ....
I use this one with fishing hooks. The line may break but the knot won’t.
A decent knot for an anchor hitch. Perhaps with fewer turns.
И зачем так "путать"? Веками существует и.н. "якорный узел", гораздо проще и не менее надёжный.
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
Dude,.. the spending will never stop,..especially when you have a credit card...lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know this movie quite well ... I've spent $60,000+ on fishing gear in the last 3 years and I just got another reel delivered this morning,.. it's like some crazy addiction....that you need to buy this and that.... lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No matter how many of these videos showing how to tie different knots, you should also practice them until muscle memory kicks in.
what a nice choice for rope :)
I’m tying this one on my anchor when I can
Google an anchor knot instead its a lil different but better for you application
So....What's the advantage of this knot when the rope is only as strong as it weakest point.
Anchor bend or double fisherman's termination or bowline or buntline for starters
My question is how you would untie it
How great
It's only as good as its weakest point, so all that bother but on the end of it is a single strand of rope that might hold 100 lbs or whatever the rating of the rope is
Esthétique mais pas certain qu'il apporte une plus-value à d'autres noeuds plus ''traditionnels''...
Very neat.
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
The second loop is not load bearing and is actually the weak point of this knot, as it is putting strain on the loose end.. Far from ideal and hard to make. There are better knots around
Проще булинь с контрольным штыком завязать. Ваш узел самозатягивающийся, после работы с грузом вы его не развяжете.
Why not show the line, knot and hook under a workable load after you cinch it down. Maybe toss in a threshold test too…
That looks like a piss poor knot throw a double half hitch on it and be done in 1/10 the time
A real over kill of a knot that is knot necessary
Boyscout spotted
Dear friends, your opinion is very valuable for me. Thank you very much for your comment about my video🙏🙏🙏🌹♥️
That's what I was thinking
I don’t even tie my shoes anymore
Thanks for knothing. An organised tangle does not constitute a Knot. This is a basket case for a hangmans knot . Meaning it is the worst attempt at showing the world how to do that, without knowing or learning how, before attempting to be clever on film. Ideal for tying my GF up for some fun because if I die of exertion, she will be able to wriggle free in a New York Minute. I advise everyone to NOT use this for any useful purpose! A bolun or BOWLINE knot will do more than satisfactory. Where concerned about the strain on rope through the eye of a hook , take the first loop through the hook and feed it through the loop wrap it through the hook again and finish the bowline with your bight through the loop.
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
That's a leader to fly line knot.... better known as a nail knot.
Ha, the only knot I can do is a granny knot!
Thank you, my good friend, for expressing your opinion about my video, I welcome your opinion, thank you kind friend
❤❤
Why are they playing strip tease music?
One of the best parts of a great knot is being able to untie it easily. Bowline.
Agree with other commenters. We appreciate the how-to, but why do DYI-ers feel the necessity to add annoying sound tracks? If you feel the necessity to add sound, how about a brief voiceover explaining what you're doing. Again, appreciate your taking the time, and submitted with respect.
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
@@Knottraining'Welcome. I hope my comment was more constructive than whiny😊
Bad marks on this video for your sound track being TOO DAMN LOUD AND ANNOYING!
❤
No its knot
Hey 1970’s porn music! Wait, what oh that’s what my brother said!
hangmans knot
Wrong
Get rid of the stupid music
goofy way of making a "hangmans noose"
It's stronger because of that tail wrapped the other way. I've used noose knots for years because of their strength and resistance to loosening, but this improves upon it. I'm going to try this.
It isn't.
hangman's noose has only one loop for the neck of the condemned. This knot would have two...
@@argentum530Means there is twice as much hold and the condemned head don't slip out. Used for a horse thief in the old days 😜
@@anthonycash4609 I've read a lot of western history but never heard that before.
How great
It's called a Scaffold Knot, Ashley #1120, technically a hitch.
It's a strong knot, with no sharp bends under stress, and the free end leads neatly back along the standing part of the line, where it can be neatly seized for greater security.
I have one of these knots instead of a traditional eye splice on the main halyard of my sailing yacht, the reason being that it's Spectra for which an eye splice calls for a very long bury that won't pass the masthead sheave. So, ironically, this high tech line has to be given a traditional treatment. It's held for seven years so far, so I think it's proven to be a suitable knot for the purpose.
Thanks for giving the Ashley reference number!
This deviates from the scaffold by passing through the hook eye a second time. This extra turn does not add additional strength, in my humble opinion, and may make it less secure.
Not a scaffold hitch..
Well, THAT was about 2 minutes longer than it needed to be.
speed 2.0 is what need to
Adapted from the classic “hangman’s knot”. Knots use friction to keep them from slipping. With all the coils, this knot will NEVER SLIP. But it takes a minute and some skill to tie. I use knots like this all the time.
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
Why not a simple Bowline?
Bowline can invert, so there's the water bowline, which is a bit less prone to slipping. There are no ideal knots, but generally yes, you use the simplest one for the purpose so that a crew member will be familiar with it if they need to undo it quickly. Climbers, riggers, arborists each have their own favorites.
Bowlines can shake free. Bowline is perfect for a fast knot to resist load that can undo. Note the can undo! As for this knot, I am not convined it is safe....@@catsupchutney
The bowline would go through the eye only once, this example goes through the eye twice and may be more appropriate for some situations.
I thought the same thing. I used a bowline on a 35,000 test synthetic rope pulling stumps and he held beautifully.
I might be wrong but this looks like a fishing knot that would normally be tied in monofilament line. A lot of standard knots don't work in monofilament because it's so slippy. Would be useful if the video gave any context, a name, anything for this knot!
It's like a Hangman noose with 2 loops. I can do a Hangman noose. It's done differently with only one loop, and the tucking in is done at the start.
So it's basically one of the knots my gramps taught me for fishing. Cool but while adequate for crappie, it won't handle bass.
That's an awfully big hook for crappie !!
That knot really can’t be that “ essential”, I’m 49 years old and iv survived perfectly well without knowing how to tie it.
I learned something! I use a “fisherman’s knot” on many of my products. I like the extra pass through the eye of the hook! I’m going to try it and see if it dresses nicely as it tightens up.
Dear friend, thank you for your opinion
waaaaaaaaaay to complicated, you're joking right?
Dear friend, thank you for your opinion
Netflix is going to steal this for a scene in it's next serial killer show for the music alone.
Hate to break it to you, this is a hitch, not a knot. You cannot untie this hitch when it's under tension, unlike a bowline or other knot when they're under tension.
You cant untie a bowline under tension. Also a bowline can collapse and you wont get it undone. Could have just used a round turn and 2 half hitches. round turn spread the load on the shackle half hitches easy to untie. Extremely secure.
Knot true
@@born2wander2 Do me a fouvour tie your bowline and try to untie it under tension, get back to me. I have seen countless Bowlines collapse. And getting so tight you have to cut the line. Especially towing a 30 ton vessel in 9 meter swells.
@@born2wander2 Although the bowline is generally considered a reliable knot, its main deficiencies are a tendency to work loose when not under load (or under cyclic loading),[4][5] to slip when pulled sideways,[6] and the bight portion of the knot to capsize in certain circumstances.[7] To address these shortcomings, a number of more secure variations of the bowline have been developed for use in safety-critical applications, or by securing the knot with an overhand knot backup.
Overhand on a bight won't budge either. Bowline is good if its always under slight tension. I use a figure 8 when rigging and dragging trees out if the forest. The knots always come undone with some yielding force.
I was raised on a ranch and I have never seen this knot. The bowline is easy to learn, can be undone and has endless applications.
Almost like a fishin modified hangman's knot with double loop in eye.
I was a lineman for Ma Bell in my earlier days. Loved, and still do love the bowline. If you know that knot, you’re covered 99 % of the time.
Bowline needs to stay under tension, Anytime it yields it gets loose. But it is easy to untie if it gets loaded.
Cool......This video isn't about the bowline.
Why not just make a slip bowline?
Good video, horrible music! Loose the 70’s porn track.
I've got a query. Which knot? I have one piece of rope, need to tie the two ends (make a loop) with a knot which will tighten as required but easy to loosen. Example - for use to stop bleeding and then quick/easy to remove without cutting.
So many shadetree engineers in here. Where's their knot videos? Are they knot the experts?
ta corde prend 600kg et ton Crochet de levage vaut 1T, tu es ingénieur à Grenoble toi
Fancy knots may be very strong...or very weak. Only lab testing to failure will verify which. I like this one's chances. But I wouldn't use it for anything critical without test results.
Nice and slow and clear. Most tubers showing how to tie a not or hitch seem to be in a race to win a contest, You never quite know cuzz it isn't clearly shown.
My dear friend, thank you very much for giving your opinion about my video. I will try to use your opinion to improve my work. Thank you very much.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️
Looks like the knot I used for attaching hooks to fishing line, when I used to fish.
a good knot is one that you can tie, and have it hold, and then untie.
lesson one in rope access, or on ship, or on a mountai.
or tying your shoes :)
expecially tying your shoes
@@bobceffo Yes. I used this know to tie my shoe and I'm still wearing them. I have to wear them in the shower, to bed, and everywhere. I can't get them off!!
Horrible music. Horribly SLOW. Wicked waste of time
This music is also the music he puts on when trying to get laid.
That is the dumbest knot I have ever seen. Bowline is the king of knots. Quit trying to reinvent the wheel.
YEA SO?
Its look like complicated to knot with fluorcarbon line, i gonna try
it is not the same knot shown in the picture. Picture has single loop video shows double loop.
Looks a bit like a noose
What we used to call hangman knot
Yes. That's right
Dear friend, thank you for your opinion
Just use a bow line much more efficient
True but not as pretty !
A bow line can loosen up when not under tension.
Bowline can walk out if knot is loaded and unloaded repetitively.
That looks like a halyard knot, common on sailboats.
@@TheNutzandBoltz eskimo bowline...

no knot is strong , and that one is long way from safe and reliable .
Overly complicated way of tieing it though....
it's kinda like a reverse hangman noose knot but w a dbl on the loop..
You genius!!!
Lucky they never used this to hang people
I SUCK at knots. Always have. This was so simple to follow that I can easily remember it for future reference.. Subscribed so I can find more easy ones.
Shit. Sorry I had to unsubscribe. I ended up with 50 knot channels clogging up my feed and the only way I know how to prevent this is to not subscribe and the start "don't show this channel" on all the ones that pop up. I love YT but hate that part of the algorithm.
That’s the night I use when tying on lures and hooks.
🎉
Even a bowline will become untie-able if it becomes tight enough
Music is too loud and intrusive. Please consider either refraining from 'musac' or tone it down. Secondly, if one is to use a fishing hook/lure knot, as this is, why not just tie a Palomar. Safe, secure, zippy fast (less than five seconds if you know what you're doing).
Safe 🤷🏾♀️ depends on its use I suppose, it's basically a double looped noose or hangman's knot.
Reeee! That knot is Racist! I’m offended. 😂
Thus knot ..in no way makes the rope stronger
I would be nice to test the breaking point under load for comparison purposes with other knots using the same rope
Dear friend, thank you for your opinion
I tie my hooks like that fishing most of the time
The slipknot, very usefull 😂
For knots, interesting to see how it's done- too "complicated" to do in reality. You need fast knots in the field.
I’m just gonna say a couple things. Some people tie knots that look really awesome but you know what I just tie like a tennis shoe the first time and the second time and it’s never come loose on my winch.
Please show how the fireforce use the special knot with which they lift a man....
Dear friend, thank you very much for your opinion
Can you due thet a bit slower Fer me?
I would just use a bowline at 1/4th the time and effort.
Dear friend, thank you for your opinion
heck, i learned how to snell fishing hooks when i was 10. same knot, bigger line and hook.
Hand is covering too much in beginning
Thank God for the mute button.
It's hard to untie once it's been put under tension. Make sure you have a knife handy.
This knot is amazing ❤ I'll give it a try too
Bubba Pull Rope Wallace would find that knot offensive 😂
R.I.P. Don Knots.
