  • This septic tank replacement project sure got our blood pumping, and on Friday the 13th no less! 😅 While Troy patiently watched and helped the driver readjust, Casey videoed and let her nerves show in every gasp and gulp.😂 In the end, our planning and coordination paid off, while also making for an interesting video. 💪 Enjoy!

    Project Details:
Peak DirtWorks was introduced to the project after it was determined during the course of a real estate transaction that the existing septic tank(s) were cracked and needed to be replaced. We assessed the area to determine the best course of action. Our first challenge was getting the delivery truck back to the area to drop the tanks. The grade wasn't the issue (though it did create a challenge when the Mini Ex walked off the tracks, as seen in THIS video: ). It was more the narrow corridor through which the delivery truck would need to maneuver, between the house and a retaining wall. We were not sure if the wall would hold with the pressure of a truck and concrete septic tanks.
In anticipation of potential challenges, we scheduled an on-site meeting with the supplier prior to delivery. They agreed it was tight, but decided it could be done. We also had a crane company on-call for the delivery, just in case the truck couldn't get back there. However, we were not even sure if a crane could access the property due to the winding, steep roads leading up to it. We also were not sure if the crane could extend the heavy tanks beyond the house to the area where we had to set them.
Ultimately, we moved forward with the plan to bring in the delivery truck and well...things got more interesting than we would have liked! However, everyone stayed calm under pressure, and we were able to work our way through a hairy situation in order to get the client back up and running.
The entire project, from excavation/demo, to delivery and reconnection/inspection took just 2 days. Thanks to Valley Precast for their expertise and nerves of steel.

That’s a lot of faith in that retaining wall

The truck was a little too far to that side, for sure! We had to reevaluate and adjust but it was pretty stressful, to say the least!
