Many years ago (1992, to be exact) I performed this set for my senior recital; my teacher had never taught this set before but assigned it to me as "interesting and obscure work by Schumann" (he was a huge Schumann fan). I thought I'd never be able to manage the opening piece but pulled it off; its dissonances are pretty startling (lots of minor 9ths). The 2nd piece is especially lovely.
I feel like it's equivalent to the Kreisleriana beginning, not particularly a startling or weird passage for Schumann to have dominant 9ths. Great piece to have done for your recital
@@somonerandom706 Agreed. Scriabin and Rachmaninoff never really based their youth works on Schumann (Both was more influenced from Chopin in general). Their mature works written as adults have little to nothing in common with Schumann in harmony.

la deuxième pièce.....on dirait la plainte d'une âme affaiblie en train de quitter ce monde
Thanks for sharing the Schumann's work. I appreciate it so much.

Les notes du chant de la 1ere partie ne sont pas toujours très claires comme chez d'autres, mais l'esprit est à mon avis beaucoup plus fidèle.
it is too profound to understand his late works.....
it sound's like rachmaninoff or scriabin
I agree, it's very advanced for 1851. It does almost sound like a Rachmaninoff prelude or etude tableaux

@@marcoesquandolez Sounds like it inspired Op.39 No.1
It seems likely that rachmaninoff's op 23 no 7 was inspired by this piece
