Question I have for you (or the crowd) will you be overly docked for only fixing on critical areas of flight in the score?
I don't want to do 8+hours on a long flight. The score system seemed to only dock a max of 3 points but wanted ppl who've used this
I realise i'm late to answer this, but when using this app you "buy" an aircraft license, join an airline that has that type of plane, and then generate a schedule consisting of 10 flights of that airline. While generating the schedule you can select whether you want short haul, medium haul, and/or long haul in your schedule, and you can keep regenerating the schedule until you get a result you're happy with, then you accept the schedule. Once accepted the schedule cannot be changed (but you can skip 5 flights / month and buy extra skips with in-app "money"), this is done for realism. You can add event flights to the schedule, and you can always switch jobs after 7 days even if you haven't finished your flight schedule.
Also, the app does not care about your sim rate. if you want to, you can absolutely put long haul flights in your schedule and then fly them at 4x sim rate. You will only be credited the real time flight hours though, so if you do an 8 hour flight in 2 hours, it will count as two flight hours. No points will be docked for this.
WooHoo….just made my first flight in the app and got a -44 landing. Total score was only an 89 though because I didnt turn lights on/off when the system wanted. I havent been turning off landing lights until after 10k, and the system showed they needed to be turned off by 10k. I also accidentally exceeded taxi speed for a brief moment.
When u fly do u have to fly at the scheduled times
@@khygaming1892 …..no. Your schedule is just the order in which you fly. There are different settings that allow you to even take longer than a week if need be. Once you accept a schedule you just have to work your way down the list in order. Then once completed you can request a new schedule and will be able to select which one you want. Just finished my 83rd flight monday.
This is really tempting. I've been trying out NeoFly 4 yet the grind is ridiculous honestly. I managed to find out how to access the database but at that point it takes away the fun if I'm just able to manipulate every aspect of it. My main issue was the level of pay and the fact that even when flying 737's Neofly will generate 20 something airports for a job and not one will be an airport I want to fly into. I'm not trying to land this 737-800 with a 20,000 payload into some non-towered local aiport with a 4,000 foot runway, or some backwoods grass strip that's not even an airport anymore because it's been closed for 10 years.
APLv2 user here, can really recommend it. It's very much a career addon, but unlike NeoFly 4 it's specifically an airline career addon. You start at a 1 or 2 star airline (usually low cost carriers), generate schedules consisting of 10 flights (you can keep regenerating the schedule until you're happy and then accept it, but the app assigns the flights to you, you don't get to cherry pick), you fly those flights, get scored for the flights you do and earn XP. As you earn XP you will go up in rank, and the better your flight scoring the higher your rating, both of which will contribute to your hourly pay and your odds of getting accepted into higher-level airlines.
Personally I really like it. The 10-flights-schedule system does add a lot of realism, as it's meant to simulate you getting assigned flights by your airline, and the scoring and XP systems give a sense of progression to my virtual airline career. I started with Copa Airlines Colombia (Wingo) in Colombia, grinded my way up from Junior First Officer to First Officer (took about 22 flights), and then switched to Flydubai where i'm currently continuing my career.
I've been having a blast with this, great overview!
My plan was to start with purchasing the a320 family, which I did. Second was to purchase the 737 family. Figured those two should cover the vast majority of opportunities. Nice suggestion on the crj. I will add it to my list for second purchase. My ultimate goal is Delta, so that should keep me on track.
Got hired by Delta week before last. Have a320 family, 737 family, and CRJ. Lots of options now on schedule. Just starting my 65th flight. Really great app
Just bought this evening. Havent completed a flight yet. I selected the a320 family license, but made a mistake a didnt realize that I was “hired” by an airline that only flies the a321neo. So I had to go purchase the LVFR a321neo. I also accepted some type of schedule, but that may have also been a mistake as all the flights start at 21:30 utc, and I wont be available during that time. So Im still a bit lost.
So they made an update a while back the good news is the time schedule doesn’t matter anymore. You can fly whenever you want technically.
@@cptrocsavage …nice. Good to know. Will get my first flight done in the morning then. I still need to make sure I get the app connected to the sim. Im sure it has to be connected somehow in order to track the flight. Do I have to save the flight into the app somehow?
@@jay-rus4437 you need FSUPIC for it to connect. Flights will automatically save once completed. You can’t save flights mid flight they need to be completed
@@cptrocsavage hi, is FSUPIC free or is it the 30 dollar version?
@@luukdendekker159 you can use the free version. The paid is only if you need to use it for mapping buttons and such.
So I only have the PMDG 737-600.(It was the cheapest) Can I use that or do I need the -700 or -800 since that’s what airlines use?
So technically yes. If you own the 737 license you’ll be able to swap that plane (73-6) with whatever (737) flight you have on the schedule.
Am I the only one who is straight up addicted to APL? I currently fly the A319, A320, A321 with Delta Airlines.
haha i love this app! the VA stuff is the best.
App is solid I just can’t seem to build my bank to buy other licenses
How were you able to get the airline logo on the gate/vehicles?
gates are usually done by the scenery and the vehicles are GSX.
First off, let me say great video. I enjoyed your instructional style, it is a pleasent change. I will be going to your channel to see what other videos you have after this. Ok, my question, Is this app only geared toward airliner. I perfer to fly turboprops (TBM's, Caravan's, Kodiak's etc.) Are there any cargo or pax charter flights in this app. I've just started researching career mod's for X - Plane 12. This seems like a great app to have would would seriously consider buying if it does the kind of flights I'm looking for. Any considerations you could give would be greatly appreciated. Again, great video and have a blessed day.
Thank you very much for the support! So the application has every airline/company out flying in the skies. There are companies that operate those aircraft you listed however it needs to be a charter of some sort as this isn’t an application for a private made career. There are plenty of cargo companies to choose from as well as charter companies. Make sure before you choose your company if you so choose to buy this application you buy the correct license for that company. My recommendations for charter are anything in the Bahamas! Beautiful views and awesome approaches. I prefer the airliner route and honestly it takes me all around the world and seeing new places I would have never flown to without this app.
Thank you very much for the prompted response and for your advise. Looks like I'm going to grab this produce. Aslo, I have checked out a couple of your video and enjoyed them so I have subscribed to your channel. Look forward to watch more. Thanks again.@@cptrocsavage
Great video and I'm a little late to the party but I was just curious to know why my game says flight not started? Is there something I'm missing? Do I have to purchase SimBrief?
Hello! So it will say flight not started either by it not being connected to the sim via FSUIPC or you are not at the correct airport for departure
Great video, i want to buy it now. Can you do freight ops with a a300?
Yeah of course you can! They have every airline in the world.
This looks very good but is missing a major factor on being a pilot or more specifically a career as a pilot.
There is no GA options available to fly smaller crafts. It seems ga is always the missing factor when it comes to flight simming and a part of what I like the most.
You pretty much start as a commercial pilot which is not the case as a real pilot. Would have been nice if it had GA crafts like king airs or caravans and such where you can still earn a living as a pilot but on a smaller scale and choose if you want to go between jets and GA even as a captain or increased rankings.
Is this just major large jets or it has smaller jets as well.
You are right to some degree. They do have some GA aircraft licenses however I think the idea behind this application was more intended for the airliner commercial route. I believe there are some other applications that feature more GA based options.
@@cptrocsavage Yeh there is. I have been using AH2 for a long time and even had the first one and I found that to be really cool as you can do anything with that from running a company to buying and selling goods and also manufacturing your own products to sell through productions of factories and also building your own aircrafts. You start your career from humble beginnings from the smallest plane and work your way up or even play as a nomad. AH2 is basically a total economic model of flight simming. But I also like what this has to offer.
@@freespeechisdead202 yeah I have heard of it. It’s really nice for smaller flights and GA.
Hello everyone, I need help installing this, it is so confusing. I opened a ticket but that got me nowhere.
I clicked on the pilots life app on my desk top to finish the install and it asks for -
Username? I didn't create one, is this my email address or my six digit ID?
Serial number? is this the registration key?
I can't see anything else.
you have to create an account
this is a fantastic overview. i was wondering if you could help. 1) i don’t have that much time to fly. 2) i’ve spent money on aircraft and i only want to fly them (such as pmdg 738).
will i find it difficult to get a job at the start? i don’t want to fly an aircraft i don’t want to fly, to get the hours up. will the app be worthwhile for me?
Sorry I’m really late to responding to you. If I were you I would pick companies that do shorter flights if you don’t have a lot of time. I would focus more on regional carriers at first to build hours and then move to a bigger company.
@@cptrocsavage thanks for the reply
Hello there, fantastic video! Just one question: how can I put this into my msfs? When I start up my msfs and return to the app (APL), it shows "flight simulator disconnected." Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
So you need to use FSUIPC for it to work. It’s free and an easy download. Once that’s running the app will use that to communicate with the sim.
ok thankyou! I already have it installed; should I place it in my community folder or leave it on the downloads? By any chance, could you paste the link for me so I know I have the right one?
@@cptrocsavage nvm, I had to run as administrator. Thanks for the help!!!! :)
@@jadenikuzir2686 no problem happy you got it all working!
Hi, nothing to do with APL, what traffic do you use or is it just static?
So it’s just static aircraft I use in my videos (usually) otherwise it’s FSLTL.
I always wonder if this can work with GA aircraft
Can I have time skip in sim while using this app ? Potential deal breaker for me if not
Yes you can, however you only get the real life time in your "hours". So if the flight in real life would take 1 hour, and you time skip so it takes half an hour, you only get half an hour to your profile. Your flight however will be completed and you can fly the next one.
@cptrocsavage Can you provide any input on use of time compression and how it affects the application?
So I’ve never personally used the sim rate in sim so I couldn’t tell you the correct answer on if it does or doesn’t. Usually good rule of thumb with these types of apps is best not to use the sim rate.
Is there an age requierment for simbitworld? And do I have to be on vatsim to use simbitworld?
no there is no age requirement and no you do not need to be on vatsim in order to operate this application.
And its 30 euros right?@@cptrocsavage
I just downloaded it, I’m having a problem getting it to download, it downloaded the windows in stalled but can’t get it to install the application do you happen to know why?
I would need some more info. Once it’s installed you should only have to search for the application
When I downloaded it with the link in the sim market app it puts apl_v2 file in my downloads, I click the file it says windows installer on said file but I double click it and it shows the load icon by the mouse but nothing pops up to complete install
@@prowelddynamics is it being being blocked by virus software?
@@cptrocsavage that’s kinda what I’m thinking but can’t figure out how to get it past that
@@prowelddynamics it’s hard to really help when I can’t see it you know haha
Demo? There is no demo of APL2 ?
well there is a demo of the product and how to work it and how it works.
What do I think about neofly
Not as good as fscharter
@@ctartastic fscharter
Anyone know a cheat code for unlimited money lmao I keep switching airlines because the routes are ehh
So when u buy a license when u first start do u have to actually have those specific planes already in game or does it unlock them for u with the license or can u download the type of planes as a mod
So when you buy the licenses you need to have them in game already. So for example if you buy the 737 license and you are using MSFS you need to own the PMDG aircraft in order to fly the routes in simbit world.
@@cptrocsavage so can I download one of the 737 addon planes the free ones
@@R3ALTR1LLK1LLA yes totally! You can use whatever you want as long as it’s the plane from the license.
@@cptrocsavage and they have free plane addons for them specific licenses my other question is can I use assist options with a pilots life for easier gameplay like ai assistance while doing a pilots life
@@R3ALTR1LLK1LLA you can use them however if they do stuff before the in-app checklist requires things to be done you might get docked points on your overall XP and score
Why would you purchase tickets? I didnt understand what the purpose of buying tickets
So purchasing tickets is great because it allows you to choose your flights if you want to do something specific and still be able to log the hours and get the XP.
@@cptrocsavage … makes sense. One kind of big mistake I made was purchasing the LVFR a321 that I thought I had to have based on the airline job that I accepted. I didnt realize that I could just fly my fenix a320 instead.
@@jay-rus4437 yeah you can switch the aircraft
Hey what yolk is that?
honeycomb alpha yoke
I load in and it say "Flight Simulator Disconnected" how do I fix this?
You need FSUIPC in order for simconnect to register with the application. You only need the free version if you don’t have it downloaded already.
@cptrocsavage Thank you so much, it is working now. Appreciate it!
@@popcat3357 of course! Happy flying!
@@cptrocsavage You too!
Why do I need flight tickets,? Thank you
You don’t “need” them. You can purchase tickets for flights that aren’t on your schedule. You also not only then can get credit for those flights as far as XP and hours but then you can fly routes with different airlines or just simply something specific if you so choose. Just note you will pay for each ticket so you don’t get paid for these flights you purchase.
can i do this in vr as well i would assume u can
I would imagine so it’s just a third party application.
@@cptrocsavage appreciate it I been thinking about buying chapter 2 I never played a pilots life at all is there a difference in the two versions?
@@R3ALTR1LLK1LLAso other than some visual changes and new features which you can find the list I’m sure somewhere it’s pretty much the same idea. Overall a better app than the original that’s for sure.
How do I start a flight in apl?
you have to get hired by a company and then pick a schedule.
@@cptrocsavage I found that out a while ago lol but thanks anyways 🙂
@@NavyLizard99 haha I figured but I was going through old comments and figured… just in case. Glad you found it.
Hello, NOT WORKING in XP12 with Zibomod737....remains STILL at the PRE-FLIGHT PHASE. Any comment though would be appreciate ....thanks
Well I’m not sure how or what is going on with Xplane 12 as I haven’t used that sim, I would recommend reaching out to the company that makes simbit world. I would make sure I have the latest application update along with FSUIPC
@@cptrocsavage Hi, thanks for your kindly response; already sent inquiry to the manufacturer and no support yet. Let me know if you try APLv2 in XP12+Zibomod. Thanks
