'23 Limited 2.5 in my garage. 17k miles already, have really enjoyed road trips in it! Sunroof squeaks, which drives me nuts, but otherwise I'm very happy with it.
Nice review! Subary has lots of chunky looking plastic body cladding which isn't appealing, but understandable. Nice inside, yet I prefer manual HVAC buttons. CVT with paddles is lame. All said, it would still be on my top 10 list of next car to get.
These are so popular, I don’t know why other brands don’t get on the bandWAGON. For example, the Toyota Crown could have been a wagon. The previous Honda Crosstour too.
The Buick Regal TourX could have been a nice wagon too. Also the Acura TSX. Now the only choice is Subaru or spending 60-80k on a German or Swedish wagon
@@snowboarderskier5888 That's semantics made by the marketing department to try and make believe that their car is an SUV. the Outback is a wagon. The long body and low center of gravity indicate as much. It is bigger than a sedan, but not as big and tall as an SUV still despite its size gain.
Interested why you didnt also mention the Forrester as an alternative? Its basically the same car (without the turbo option ) but with slightly higher seating and shorter trunk and nose. I honestly would pick up the Forrester if it had a turbo.
I sat in an outback as my car was getting its maintenance and there's simply more comfort in the outback. The forester feels unrefined, its noisy AF in the cabin and there's no 12 speakers system. The outback also has those front seats extender depending on which trim you get. The outback also looks nicer. The only negative point I would give to the outback is the 11.6 inch infotainment system. What I instantly noticed about the outback is the fact I could drive with my right arm on the console which I can not do in the forester. Add to that the fact that 2019+ foresters are known to have this thermo valve issue (google P26A3 or P26A5 forester), which mine just had last week and it cost CAD $3,500 to get it fixed under warranty. Which is why I'm currently thinking about buying an outback limited XT but it's so much money. My forester is already paid off but I fear the thermo valve is going to break again. Yes the seating position is lower in the outback but you gain comfort if you get the seat extender, plus you can get the turbo and the 12 speaker system. Finally, who knows if there will be a 260hp turbo charged engine in the next gen coming next year? I have the fear of missing out.
Rented one of these and drove from San Diego to Yosemite late November, drove thru hail and on icy windy roads, worked well. My only qualm it felt a little smaller for a bigger guy, like he said, more wagon type shape/size but prob drives a bit better because of that, especially on mountainous winding roads
Can’t wait for the 2025 Outback! We are on our 2nd Outback 2022 ! Assuming pana moonroof. Full Digital display? Can’t wait. Will def get it when it comes out. Tbh the cVT here is fine especially on the turbo.
I am glad they didn't put piano black plastic everywhere. It makes the cabin more durable and attractive for long-term ownership. Piano black plastic is awful because it scratches and collects dust so easily. I like how they kept it at a minimum here
@@MDplanetZone ... a current year model and a "hold-over model" from last year can actually often be almost exactly the same vehicle. I rented an Outback 2 months ago, that car yelled at me all the time!🤬 If you’re not looking straight ahead it’ll let you know………I could Not own a Subaru for that reason alone!
I did a test drive before I bought my model Y. I love the outback but the seat is really uncomfortable for me. If Subaru makes it as a hybrid and improves the seat cushion. I will trade my model Y for it.
Go to you own gears? Theyre not even gears. I wish Subaru would’ve just invested into a 8 or 10 speed auto. It’d drive better and would do better off road. Only reason they won’t is money.
I tested the Touring XT. The cabin was a bit noisy, and the ride quality wasn't that great. The ventilated seat didn't do much more than make an annoying noise. And Subaru makes you pay $10 per month for an app that allows you to use remote start. Overall, I just felt like the car wasn't a good value.
A CVT in an off-road oriented vehicle makes no sense. Also strongly dislike the messy infotainment system. I wouldn't mind an Outback if it wasn't for the above disappointments. Feels like the best was the previous generations.
2023 is ugly as heck.. 2022 please. subaru is really nickle and diming it.. halogen tailights turn signals for over 30K.. ridiculous. i have a 2018 crossttek premium. its a good car, though i think subaru is as frugal as it gets. safety features are almost top class.. though the competition has caught up big time. my next car will npt be a subaru..

Dangerrrrrrrrrr. Fresh fade. Fresh video. Appreciate the solid video as always.
The babies!!! Love the bloopers at the end!
Lol! What up Eric Thanks for tuning in! Yeah this video was a bunch of fun. One of my favorites that I’ve done
Best review no beating around the bushes. Subscribed!

Good review thank you! The 2.5 is most likely my choice.
Thanks for the review Mike. But just curious where is Micah? Been a while….
Great review Mike!
As always great review ! 👍
At 5.45 the wheels don't spin..😂😂
Ha! Lyn finally video-bombed Mike.
I swear the name Mike Danger has got to be a Secret Agent or Action Hero 🙌
For anybody wondering, with the seats folded down the cargo space increases to 75 cu in.
We own both an Outback XT Touring and a Santa Fe Limited. Both are great, but Hyundais beep at you less.

The paddles are essential in the mountains. It allows you to use engine breaking when going down mountain passes. 😉

I like the Outback, but I would not classify it as an SUV. It's a lifted station wagon with off road cladding.
I adore my outback!!!!

That touchscreen is still criminal.
I agree with one of the other commenters. Nit sure what it is but that drivers seat kills me. I think the set bottom is too angled towards your rear.

Less oomph, but naturally aspirated engines are more reliable than turbocharged engines.
The only thing stopping me from getting this car is the touch screen in the front and the lack of physical buttons.
it only gets better from model to model
Dude, you're funny 👍🏾
Haha glad you enjoyed
You can already get the 2024 Outback, why review the 2023?
They’re the same car

The way the reviewer treats things, especially the gear selector, won't be long before something breaks.

This will be my car the day they put in a hybrid system on this.
WHY ?????

Did you check if you can shut those features off. There are some that you can.
That’s only on a Touring trim.

How come they don’t put a remote start on there vehicles

Great review. I find this vehicle to be absolutely atrocious, inside and out.
I don’t know about the technical details, but Subaru’s exterior design just looks too boring to me😕

Ugly with an F. The Forester is beautiful by comparison. I like the Willow reference, though.

It's an ugly looking estate.
