There's no denying that all rock music has to be measured from before Jimi and after- he's even an artist I don't listen to much, but we have to know how talented and amazing he was. Now this is a set I would love.
Thanks for the video. I have the CD version and it’s excellent. You hear him build songs in the studio. Not for fans new to Hendrix. A must have for fans that have his other stuff. Rock on!
If you buy the CD, check your discs asap for scratches and blemishes...had to return my copy to Amazon in the US for a replacement. It is a great release indeed. Thanks Jimi!!!
I went to see the documentary at the theatre tonight, it's mainly Eddie Kramer & oher engineers telling the story of setting up the studio with some interesting insights into Mike Jeffrey. I will add this set onto my list of ones to get when the price is right.
Got the vinyl box as well and totally agree with your review. As with Rory Gallagher, you can never get enough of Hendrix either. He was in a league of his own as this set so amply shows in demos and alternate takes alone!
Yes🎸 I was hoping you would show us this box set. Fantastic Phil. Good choice with that big vinyl box set. I can’t wait to hear that 26 minute medley cheers from Houston 🎵🕺🌈
Hi Phil laying here after a total hip replacement and in a great deal of pain I thought to myself what can I do to cheer myself up and then you came along with this, cheers Phil can’t wait to get home and spin this great box set a must for any JH fan .
I bought the Blu-ray audio disc separately. DTS 5.1 from a guy on eBay 15.00 bucks. This is the ony way, to listen, to this music. Originally released right after his death, on a album called CRY OF LOVE. Electric Lady Land is available in 5.1
Aw man, not another Hendrix box. I have a similarly named 6CD bootleg box from almost ten years ago. Can't remember what its called exactly. If this set isn't too pricey in Belgium I'll gladly have a go at it. Thanks for the heads-up.
Phil, Excellent ! I have a deluxe 50th Anniversary edition produced by Jamie Hendrix, Eddie Kramer, and John McDermont, with comes in a large 48 page hardback book with 3 cd's and the Blue Ray in 5.1 surround inside : titled The Making of Electric Ladyland. Disc # 1 ElectricLadyland, Disc# 2 At Last..The Beginning, Disc # 3 Live at the Hollwood Bowl, Disc# 4 Blue-ray. Looks like plenty of newer material in this new set ? Thanks for the video !
Good product. My only disappointment has been with the Blu-ray surround mix. It's not that it's bad, but the mix doesn't allow you to enjoy the music in a more complete way, as I expected.
The more sets that are made from Jimi the better.
I think I have almost all of them, including this one and they are all a gem to me.
