I have been meaning to! Been really busy with other things, including getting ready to move into our house and get the shop all setup! I have some really awesome plans for this build when I have a little more space to work on things!
Looking good almost like the baby landcruiser; and the wheels makes the car look rugged and stand out. I have exactly like your car 2013 Highlander white too except without the mods. How is the gas mileage changed with those big tires??
My second ever car was a 93 Camry coupe with the 3 literally v6. My third car was a 2004 Solara with a 3.3. I got a brand new 2012 Highlander with the 3.5. Three years ago I got a brand new hybrid Avalon. I am really into the Tundra but I might need to sell the Highlander.
I use my highlander to pull my lawn trailer full time, thinking of buying another one. It’s the best vehicle ever built in my opinion. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a truck again.
Thanks for your video, I'm digging the wheel/tire setup! How is the eBay lift kit holding up? Does it make any noise or anything note worthy? Maybe a long term review?
It has been holding up great! I definitely will be upgrading to actual lift struts in the future so I can have a little more spring rate for loaded down adventures, but I have no complaints on the eBay lift at all!
I'd rather have a 20 year old Tacoma then a brand new ford anything , they're garbage , I have an 05' Highlander 4x4 all wheel drive , I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world except another Toyota , because , I only buy things that last , and retain their value .
Yes! next update video I will be diving in to those. I actually just installed the set tonight. I got hubcentric ones. you will also need extended lug nuts for the spacers to mount to the factory lugs, as they are a little bit short. here are the links to what I ordered. amzn.to/3sMGQoi amzn.to/465BF18 I have been impressed and its the same company that I got my 4runner spacers from.
My biggest concern would be the transmission shift points, most of these cars transmissions are computer controlled and are set to shift at certain speed and rpm. adding larger tires throws the computer off and it has no idea how fast it's going and therefore has no idea when to shift. have you noticed any issues with it shifting too soon? bogging down? if so it's having trouble figuring out what gear to be in.
Honestly these mods are so mild that I didn't see too much change in driving characteristics. The computer will re learn after driving and it will shift properly. I have also seen people use plug and play "tunes" that allow you to customize the shift points, similar to a pedal commander and what not. acceleration, shifting, rpm, speed.. they all seem to feel stock to me.
I have the same one but black. I would like to know what size the total wheels are and what Lyft kit you used to lift it since I want to lift mine but I am undecided which one to buy.
I have ran top hat spacers (ones that bolt on top of the top hat), even on my old 4runner with long travel arms. If you dont max out your suspension all its doing is re arranging the geometry of the mounts. They will take the abuse. The key is to not lift over 3" with just top hats. I would not recommend the spacers that go between the coil and top hat however because those are the ones that add more preload and ruin quality.
Part 2 is coming soon! I have installed more goodies on the highlander and am even manufacturing some highlander specific gear, so stay tuned. I should have more content in the near future!

haha what makes you say that? I've already taken this thing where most 4runner owners would be scared, but I have been offroading my whole life and know most people don't go wheeling much. Highlanders are on a different level though not being a body on frame rig. They definitely have their place and when you compare luxury and price to the 4runner, these highlanders can rank pretty high.
@@ThisWeeksWander2nd gen highlanders are truly underrated. Love with you've done to yours and I'm glad you've been enjoying it without issues. Godspeed with your adventures Bro! ❤
haha! when I listed it my wife told me I was going to regret it. She was right..I have every day since. But on to bigger and better things! Hopefully soon I will be making a video about a new purchase once I decide what I want as my dedicated offroad rig. For now Im scratching the itch with the Highlander

Highlanders are so underrated I love the simple looks of it
Same! Check out my most recent video breaking down how capable they are. They are like a mini landcruiser as far as looks go
Just bought a 2013 ltd highlander. Windchill pearl and cream leather. Love it. 39000 miles.
2nd gen highlanders actually are probably the best gen
Well done. Looks good!! I will be looking into Highlander myself.
Need to see a part 2!!!

Hey did a part 2 ever come out??
Looking good almost like the baby landcruiser; and the wheels makes the car look rugged and stand out.

Just bought a 2011 Highlander Limited! Silver with grey leather. LOVE what you've done to yours! Now I gotta see if the wife likes it!? Bet she will!
Haha thanks!
Shout-out to Provo ✌🏼 work in Provo, live in Santaquin. Nice Highlander!

*3 litre. Smh friggin auto correct
Nice Highlander man .

The Highlander honestly is the best all around vehicle hands down!
Thanks for your video, I'm digging the wheel/tire setup!

Did you paint the black around the bottom of the car yourself? Looks great. I’m wondering if it was easily done with store bought auto paint.
That’s how it came! Limited trim
Looks awesome, what do you get as MPG now?
I wanna see the new Grand Highlander with a lift kit and huge off-road tires

I have a 2012 camry with 240k miles lol, I’m in the market for a highlander Toyota’s are the best.
Great vide. Any chance you can post the parts for the upgrades you have done?
Sweet ride
Can you talk more about the wheel spacers you ordered? I’m looking for some also but, I want hub centric.

great video. I don't want to do the lift. what offset should I do
Pistol in the Party. This car is slick.
gotta stay strapped
Do you have a video on the light bar installation?
Does this modification affect the wheel bearing?
Too much wheel offset or big wheel spacers can add more leverage on the wheel bearings, but with my setup there is no issue as its still fairly mild
What changes did you make to the factory headlights? You mentioned some LED lighting. Thanks
I second the question on the headlights. Where did you find those?
Just purchased an 08 Highlander.
Found some wheels and tires on marketplace but wondering if they’d work with a 1 1/2 lift.
Toyo AT2 265/70r16??
You should be fine but might need to trim a bit. Its hard to say without knowing the offset of the wheels

Hi could you please post the link where you got the tire and rims. Thank you
What’s your tire size?
Hey mate how can I dm you? I have a questions about lifting the thing?
I have the same one but black. I would like to know what size the total wheels are and what Lyft kit you used to lift it since I want to lift mine but I am undecided which one to buy.
I will be making an update video since I have added a few more things to this build. I will link the details to that video, so stay tuned!
Uhhh, look into Dobinsons USA…top hat spacers in the long run will be a problem when it comes to correct compression and rebound

How's the unibody held up over trails and what not? Is it still going strong?
Still going strong! I don't beat on it but I don't think there are any worries about the unibody issues with this platform
Did you change the struts? If so, link, please
Struts are stock with spacers for lift
@@ThisWeeksWandercan you share a link with me where I can get full struts, please
what mounting brackets did you use for the lightbar?
What did you end up getting? Hopefully you got something relaible and allows you to adventure even married.
I got a 5th gen 4runner Trail Premium. Decided I didn't need a truck and got a steal on this one
Can you link the spacer for us?
Bro you'd live the tacoma 2017 plus in yr great great trucks bro and
Link to the light bar? Maybe a tutorial too? 👀
It’s just a generic 30” lightbar from Amazon. I can do a breakdown video
Is it a comfortable ride
yes!
Whats the tire set up? Ty
Did it originally have the 19 inch wheels on it?
when I got it It actually had 22s haha but yes 19" is the stock size for limited im pretty sure
what is your avg mpg given the mods?
What the roof rack size??
can you get fender flares for it?
I have seen a few options out there. The highlander facebook groups are a great resource for those questions!
